  2. Kinds Of Rectal Prolapse • Rectal prolapse befalls when part of the rectum becomes overextended and overhangs from the anus. There are three kinds of rectal prolapse: • Partial prolapse befalls when the lining (mucous membrane) of the rectum slithers out of place, usually when you strain to have a bowel movement. • Complete prolapse befalls when the wall of the rectum slithers out of place and overhangs from of the anus. • Internal prolapse is also called intussusception. This befalls when one part of the wall of the large intestine or rectum slips into or over another part. In grown-ups, intussusception is typically related to another intestinal issue, such as a polyp or tumor.

  3. Symptoms Of Rectal Prolapse • The prime symptom of rectal prolapse is a reddish-colored mass bulging from the opening of the anus, particularly following a bowel movement. Other indications take account of: • Rectal bleeding • Leakage of stool or mucus • A feeling of having full bowels and a pressing need to have a bowel movement. • Passage of several very small stools. • The feeling of not being able to empty the bowels entirely. • Anal pain, itching or irritation

  4. Causes and risk factors • Rectal prolapse may develop for several reasons. For certain individuals, minor rectal prolapse occurs infrequently when they strain to have a bowel movement and may head off on its own.

  5. Other factors may also add to rectal prolapse: • A lifetime habit of straining to have bowel movement • Suffering to the pelvic floor muscles • An advancement of the aging process • Constipation • Cystic fibrosis • Neurological glitches • Malnutrition and malabsorption because of other illnesses or conditions • Parasite septicity • Prior injury to the anus or pelvic region

  6. Diagnostic tests • Your doctor can habitually detect rectal prolapse with a watchful history and a complete physical exam. Internal prolapse may necessitate supplementary tests such as anorectalmanometry to gauge the function of the muscles around the rectum. www.ProlapseRectum.com
