  1. The Dangers of Tramadol The drug tramadol is a centrally-acting opioid agonist. It is used to treat moderate to severe pain in cancer patients and people with musculoskeletal pain. Although this medication is an analgesic, it can cause drowsiness and addiction. However, its potential for abuse is well-documented. For this reason, it has received several warnings from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Tramadol is a centrally-acting opioid agonist The active metabolite of tramadol is a synthetic opioid agonist with a phenotypically distinct m-opioid receptor affinity. It binds to m-opioid receptors in the central nervous system and exerts analgesic effects by inhibiting the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin from the brain. These endorphins are important for pain perception. In clinical trials, tramadol was found to be superior to acetaminophen in the reduction of post-operative pain. Although it is comparable to codeine in its ability to suppress pain, its absorption rates are lower and it is unlikely to cause respiratory depression. A study conducted by Turturro and colleagues compared the analgesic effects of

  2. tramadol to acetaminophen in patients with acute musculoskeletal pain following minor trauma. While tramadol is a highly effective pain reliever, it also poses risks for abuse. It has a high bioavailability of 68%, and its half-life is 5.1 hours. Additionally, it has a two- compartmental elimination kinetics. This means that tramadol can accumulate in the body during multiple doses. The maximum daily dosage is 400 mg. It is a synthetic form of codeine The synthetic version of codeine, Tradamol, is prescribed by doctors to relieve minor to moderate pain. It is often marketed under the brand name Ultram. Some doctors believe that Tramadol is not addictive because it does not contain the real opium or codeine. However, it can become addictive as it is much stronger than natural codeine. This is one of the reasons why it is recommended only for short-term use. In addition to treating pain, codeine is often prescribed for cough and cold. It has been used as a cough suppressant and for treating diarrhea. Because codeine is less potent than morphine or OxyContin, it does not require a large dosage to achieve the same results. Because of this, it is often blended with other medications such as Tylenol and Aspirin. It may cause addiction A synthetic opioid pain medication called tramadol is a prescription drug that helps reduce moderate to severe pain. It is often prescribed for post-surgery recovery, but is

  3. also used for recreational purposes because it produces a "high." The opioids found in tramadol are highly addictive. This makes it especially dangerous for people at high risk for addiction. If misused, a habit may develop into a dependency. The use of tramadol causes the brain to release endorphins. These hormones cause people to feel good and euphoric, which impacts the reward system. Because people tend to use these substances in large quantities, the symptoms of addiction are similar to those of physical dependence. Those suffering from a substance use disorder may describe their behavior as dependency, while others may call it addiction. If you are unsure of whether or not a drug is addictive, speak with your doctor as soon as possible. It may cause drowsiness Tradamol is a strong painkiller that belongs to the opioid class. Because it acts on the central nervous system, it can have a drowsy effect. People who use this medicine should not drive or operate machinery while they are taking it. Tramadol may also cause dizziness. If you have a history of drowsiness, check with your doctor before taking this medicine.
