The road projects improve the connectivity of industrial and commercial center’s like Trichy, Srirangam, among others. In addition, he dedicated five road projects to the country: a 39-kilometer four-lane road for the NH-81 Trichy-Kallagam section; 4/2-lane road for the 4-lane road of Chettikulam-Natham section of NH-785; an 80-kilometer two-lane road on the NH-536 Karaikudi-Ramanathapuram section; and a 44-kilometer 4- lane section of NH-179A Salem-Tirupathur-Vaniyambadi Road. The construction of a 323 km natural gas pipeline by Gas Authority of India (GAIL) from Krishnagiri to Coimbatore as part of the Kochi-Koottanad-Bangalore-Mangalore Gas Pipeline II (KKBMPL II) and the installation of POL pipelines in the Common Corridor for the proposed grass root terminal at Vallur, Chennai, are two other noteworthy projects for which the foundation stone was laid. He also opened Kamarajar Port's General Cargo Berth-II (Automobile Export/Import Terminal-II and Capital Dredging Phase-V). The PM has designated three railway projects for electrification: Tiruchchirappalli-Manamadurai- Virudhunagar; Virudhunagar-Tenkasi Junction; Sengottai-Tenkasi Junction; and Tirunelveli-Tirunelveli- Truchendur. The other railway projects include the doubling of the 41.4 km Salem-Magnesite Junction- Omalur-Mettur Dam section and the doubling of the rail line section of 160 km from Madurai to Tuticorin.
