Located in an unspoilt village of Leh, at an altitude of about 11,700 feet, Jaadooghar Leh offers dramatic, panoramic views of the Stok range. Accessible, yet secluded, this property is located in the upper reaches of the Leh valley and offers a glimpse into the traditional Ladakhi way without taking away any modern comforts. A small stream passes through the area which has its source from the Khardung glacier. Such is the purity of the stream that it is the local populus’ source of drinking water. Whether it is engagement, activities or relaxation you seek, the harbouring village has plenty to offer. In order to preserve the natural resources and the pristine landscape of Leh, the hosts of Jaadooghar Leh, conscious of their responsibility, have constructed it in the most low- impact manner possible. They have done so by utilising traditional building methods and materials – the cabins have been built using rammed earth and wood. Since cement and iron have market-corrected these ancient methods, identifying skilled builders to execute this ambitious plan was not an easy task. However, as the old adage goes – doing the right thing is not often the easiest thing to do and the hosts went the extra mile to ensure that the property reflects the ethos of its surroundings accurately. The use of earth and traditional insulation methods has also created natural climate control and so the cabins are always at an ideal temperature, irrespective of the weather outside. All the furniture in this property has been customized, representing a contemporary-chic take on traditional Ladakhi interiors, combining form and function. Note: As the property is a little away from the city, we have a clinic equipped with basic medical facilities for common ailments that occur in this region. On-site facilities include First Aid and provisions for dealing with guests who may experience some side effects as a result of the high altitude. Leh Hospital is a short (5 kilometer) drive away and a doctor is available on call, for any emergencies. JAADOOGHAR EXPERIENCES The Farm-to-Table experience Gangles is an agrarian village and the farm-to-table dining experience is the norm here. The farms here churn out a wide range of high quality, organic produce that is the basis of the culinary repertoire of the area. At Jaadooghar Leh, authentic Indian chefs create magic from these fruits of the land, supplemented by quality ingredients from other neighbouring farms, as you marvel at the sheer beauty of the Stok Range that dominates the skyline.
