  1. 5 Ways To Boost Your Child's Enthusiasm Towards Online Schooling The onset of the pandemic brought with it unprecedented challenges in the realm of schooling. As the world shifted to virtual mediums, so did schools. Perhaps your child hasn’t yet adapted to the online schooling system adopted by Pragyanam School, a CBSE School in Gurgaon. So, here are five ways to tap into your child’s enthusiasm!

  2. Establish a Routine • Researchers have often stated that kids tend to be more productive when the expectations are laid out clearly. An easy way to establish a routine is to earmark a time every day, to set the goals for the next day. Of course, don’t forget to use loving words while explaining the schedule!  • For younger kids, you may want to create designated areas for learning and quiet time. For older kids, establishing a routine may revolve around getting them to stop scrolling on social media during online classes. “Media multitasking” hampers their enthusiasm to learn and reduces productivity.

  3. Create a Comfortable Learning Space • Learning spaces that are free from distractions can make your child more enthusiastic about learning. Instead of opting for the mundane desk and chair set up, you can get creative like a “pillow throne” or bay window set up.  • Researchers also suggest personalizing the learning space, especially for younger kids. This can be anything from a pin-up board to display their artwork or a vibrant calendar where they can track their progress.

  4. Mix It Up!  • The best part about remote learning is the flexibility it offers. It is a great opportunity to delve deep into topics that your child loves learning about! You can try to build upon their interests and try to boost their learning with practical activities.   • For example, if your child is inclined towards astronomy, you can try camping outdoors and gaze at the constellations. If plants are their forte, you can plan a nature hunt in your backyard!

  5. Communication is Key!  • Sometimes, a simple discussion about what’s bothering your child can help motivate them. Instead of assuming what they like or dislike, try to ask them how they feel and what they wish to accomplish.   • It is also important to take notice of your child’s progress and praise them for their efforts. If you feel that you’re unable to connect with your child, you can try to schedule daily check-ins with their friend to give them that extra boost of determination!

  6. Make it Special! • It’s natural for kids to be motivated by the rewards! So, you can try using incentives once in a while to give them that extra push. It can be something as simple as going for a walk outside, for a change of scenery, or playing a board game together.   • Also, your children may feel isolated at home, away from their friends. Don’t worry; you can still give them something special to look forward to! You can plan a fun, virtual celebration with the class, with a theme like a dance party or trivia night!
