Medical image management software

The constant rise of the patients needing diagnostic medical imaging and advanced types of equipment required to do those imaging has increased the workload for our doctors and radiologists. To do this much work is a challenge and sometimes can lead to error. Medical image management software has made this easier for the doctors by storing, archiving, and retrieving this immense amount of data in an organized manner. In this article, we discuss what is the medical image management software and how they work.

  1. Medical Image Management Software and How They Work The constant rise of the patients needing diagnostic medical imaging and advanced types of equipment required to do those imaging has increased the workload for our doctors and radiologists. To do this much work is a challenge and sometimes can lead to error. Medical image management software has made this easier for the doctors by storing, archiving, and retrieving this immense amount of data in an organized manner. In this article, we discuss what is the medical image management software and how they work. What Does the Medical Image Management Software Do? When a dataset is entered into a medical image software, the dataset first gets analyzed, the next thing is processing, the last thing is the management of that dataset. The management software does this managing by organizing and integrating such datasets. This is important because if the data is not organized it will cost time and energy to bring them in order.

  2. For example, let’s say a patient got an MRI and a CT scan for her illness. She also visited the same doctor 2 more times in the past. So, she obviously has her information e.g. medical history, faxes, medical findings, etc. So, before she comes for her latest scan result, the doctor must look at all those previous and new findings to get a comprehensive picture. The medical image management software takes all this information and organizes them in a digital patient folder that is easily accessible. Most of these software use vendor-neutral archive so the data is accessible from anywhere, regardless of the vendor. Features of a Regular Medical Image Management Software Medical image software is connected with a PACS server, and supported by Vendor Neutral Archive technology, the server can be combined with a regular DICOM workstation and the data can be accessed vendor neutrally. The management software usually has these features: Removes the need for physical archiving as it can do that digitally and organize the data. The user can store or archive the images on the cloud- given the particular software provider provides cloud support- and the data is then more conveniently accessed. The software allows the doctors to access the data from any corner of the World and allows more than one user to access the data at the same time. This saves time and is very user-friendly. It also allows exporting the images into different file formats so that those images can be used for reference, teaching medical students, publication, and used for research purposes. It lets the doctors coordinate medical image data with other data of the patient, e.g. electronic health record, health information system, and radiology information system (RIS). Conclusion Patient data is personal and needs security, we suggest you look for the medical image processing software that gives the highest security of the data. The

  3. medical image technology is much needed for doctors to make a diagnosis and these kinds of software make their job much easier.
