  1. Farmers Selling Directly to Consumers Near Me Opportunities to buy food directly from farmers, in urban and rural areas, have increased considerably in recent years. The number of farms that sold food at roadside stands, farmers’ markets, pick-your-own farms, onfarm stores, and community-supported agricultural arrangements direct selling in India grew 4.7 per cent in the first half of the pandemic hit 2020-21 to touch total sales of Rs 7,518 crore, aided by heightened demand for health and nutrition segment products, according to a report by industry body Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA). Farm direct marketing is a long felt need of the farmers and consumers of the country as it goes a long way in ensuring higher remuneration to the farmers and meeting the satisfaction level of the consumers through direct sale of the agricultural commodity by the farmers to the consumer at affordable prices. Direct marketing of agricultural produce helps in complete elimination of middlemen and commission agents who charge a high level of commission fee from the agriculturists/farmers coming to the market yards for selling their produce and then artificially inflate the retail prices.

  2. Subhiksha to help farmers sell directly to consumers Subhiksha Organic Farmers’ Multistate Cooperative Society Limited is registered under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act (2002) Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Govt. of India. We are currently delivering farmer's produce from across 15 districts in Karnataka to consumers' homes in Bengaluru. During the last 8 years, we used to organise "Krishi Melas'' across Bengaluru, every fortnight. You might have bought our produce from Rashtrothana Parishat in Chamrajpet, Rajajinagar, or from HSR Layout in Bengaluru. You might have been a regular consumer of our popular products such as the Brown Sea Salt, Desi Ghee, Jaggery, Millets and

  3. more. During these melas, nearly 100 organic farmers used to come to Bengaluru and directly sell their produce. All this changed when Covid19 struck. Challenging times call for unique measures. Taking the Covid19 crisis as an opportunity, we at Subhiksha have decided to set up a digital market and deliver the farmer's produce directly to your homes. As always, our products are of excellent quality and each product comes with the name and details of the farmer, enabling the connection between farmers and consumers. Subhiksha is India's first vertically integrated multi state co-operative society, run and managed by farmers. - Farmers sell directly to end consumers, without any intermediary. - The produce & price are directly controlled by farmers through the co-operative set-up.

  4. - Every produce bears the name, location and photo of the farmer and his family, ensuring traceability of all products. - Consumers and farmers meet periodically through the Krishi Melas to mutually learn, understand each other, and improve the process. - We facilitate farm visits for interested consumers. - More than 30% of our field officers are women. - A minimum of 73% of our Product Cost goes directly to the farmer's account. - All financial transactions are digitally enabled, thus bringing in transparency and accountability. - We have an open architecture, and we help other organic farmers' groups to replicate this model in other regions. - We take responsibilty for the environment and ensure that all our packaging is plastic-free.
