Henry specialises in deep tissue massage for muscles that are tired from

Henry wa s a professional ballet dancer fortwelve years, finishing his career at the prestigious Royal Ballet company in

London'sCovent Garden. Thisled him to a deep understanding of the human body and

particularly the effects of hard physical training. After hisfair share of injuries and the resulting physiotherapy and many hours of massage Henry felt he had an ideal career to step into after dance.After graduating wi th distinction in holistic and deep tissue massage therapy from ITEC Henfy now divides his time between the Royal Ballet School where he is on the medical staff as their massage therapist and Central Health Physiotherapy clinics in Chancery Lane and the Hospital of St John &St Elizabeth. BIOMECHANICAL CYCLE

ASSESSMENT

A biomechanical cycle assessment takes 60-90 minutes in which time a full subjective history and objectivemeasurements are carried out to assess any injuries you are currently

e xperiencing. Muscle length,strength and core are checke d and problematic or weakareasidentifie d.

Our ergo trainer enables our physiotherapists to conduct an assessment of your individual cycling style on your own bike,or the one you are about to buy to make sure it's right for you. U9ng video analysis, measurements are taken of the trunhip, knee and upper limb angles. Advice is given

regarding ideal cycling techniques. Adjustments are then made to your bike se t up to optimiseca dence and reliev e stress on musculoskeletal structures.

You are then giv en an infonnation sheet of the changes and any exercises to perform,and you have the opportunity afteiWards of emailing or calling a physiotherapist for further a dvice.

Hydrotherapy is proven to be a safe and effectivetreatment in accelerating the rate of recovery.

What happens if Ican't swim?

Do not worry if you cannot swim. A physiotherapist will be with you in the water at all times. The pool is not deep and you can

hold onto the hand rails which surround the pool. You will not need to put your head under water.

What should I bring?

A swimming costume and any acute

medications. We provide towels and dressing gowns.

How do I get in the pool?

Access to the pool is via stepswith hand-rails if you are able.Electronic hoist accessis

available to those patients who are less mobile.

What are the side-effects?

The warmth of the water and the exercise may make you feel tired afterwards.

What happens if Ihaveasurgical wound? Waterproof dressings will be applied to prevent contact with recent surgery sites. We have stringent disinfectant measures which ensure clean water. The pool water is tested weekly for

micro-o rganisms by the Health ProlectionAgency in accordance with their guidelines.

When is hydrotherapy not appropriate? You will be assessed by a physiotherapist before yourfirst hydrotherapy appointment. Certain conditions may prohibit you from

hydrotherapy.

Hydrotherapy is the perfect therapeutic solution for those who may not be so physically able on dry land.Thebuoyancy,support,and the

resstance of water enhance d exercises create a safe environment for rehabilitation.The pool, heated to a comfortable 36'C and complete with automated hoist to aid entry and exit, reduces gravity to one seventh when a patient is immersed,facilitating e xercise techniques that provide both resstance and support.Thetemperature of the water prompts muscle relaxation,facilitates stretching and generally helps reduce the sensation of pain.
