  1. Why should people use led streetlights? • The latest technology to begin replacing aging HID and sodium lamps are of course LEDs, which are becoming a staple in the modern home. LED street lighting systems offer several advantages over older technologies, making them an attractive alternative to many municipalities. • There is no warm-up period • Street lights are usually controlled by a daylight sensor or timing mechanism, which switches the lights on only when it's dark enough for the need. Conventional lights, however, take some time to reach full brightness after they come on, often creating periods of insufficient illumination. LED lights require no warm-up time, so they switch to full brightness instantly - eliminating lag. • They are safe for the environment • One of the biggest problems associated with older outdoor lighting solutions is their reliance on gasses and hazardous metals like lead and mercury. This poses a significant risk to their environment, both during use and when they are retired, and must be replaced. In contrast, LED streetlights pose no such environmental risk, making them an ideal replacement for older technology.

  2. They attract fewer insects • One of the uglier aspects of outdoor night lighting is its tendency to attract swarms of insects. Some of this is because many types of bulbs emit light in the UV spectrum – which is exactly what many insects desire. LED lights have been shown to attract the least amount of insects, making them suitable for outdoor night lighting applications. • They cause less glare • Conventional street lighting solutions do a respectable job of allowing visibility on the road at night, but they are not very adept at controlling where the light travels. This means they are more prone to creating glare, which can be dangerous for drivers and pedestrians alike. LED street lights make it possible to control the direction of the emitted light more precisely, reducing glare, illuminating, and spreading light where it is not wanted.

  3. Better color rendering • If you've ever walked down a street lit by conventional lights at night, you've probably noticed that what you see doesn't look the same as it does during the day. Most people attribute this effect to the fact that street lights are dimmer than sunlight, but the real reason is that conventional street lights produce light with a low color rendering index (CRI). • They are energy efficient • The biggest advantage of LED streetlights is that they require much less energy than other types of lights to produce the same amount of light. In some cases, the skill difference is huge. • The bottom line is that LED street lighting offers a huge improvement in technology over other, older solutions. They last longer, produce better quality light, and cost much less to operate.
