This session aims to share information about the achievements of the Get Back Into Project in the East of England, give thoughts and ideas about how this project can be used as a tool to meet a number of shared targets and agendas, and discuss opportunities to increase adult participation through various other means.

1. The Get Back Into (GBI) project’s history and achievements in the East Region

2. tB&L’s plans for increasing participation through GBI in the immediate future

3. How GBI could help to meet your objectives and reach specific target groups (group discussion)

4. How CSP’s can work with partners to deliver GBI activities

5. How other initiatives and campaigns can be used to meet adult participation targets (break-out groups)

team BEDS&LUTON’s Get Back Into Projects in Bedfordshire and Luton

Nearly 2,500 people been the ages of 16-75 have been engaged in the Get Back Into project in Bedfordshire and Luton. Athletics, hockey, netball, tennis, touch rugby, gymnastics, cheerfit, cricket, badminton, pilates, keep fit, box-fit, yoga, table tennis, climbing, dance, mountain biking, running, basketball, golf, swimming, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, outdoor fitness, dance, ju-jitsu, aqua aerobics, football, cycling, trampolining, bowls, tone and stretch …

50% of adults who take part in a Get Back Into project go on to join a local club or group, or form their own70% of Get Back Into participants have been women15% of Get Back Into participants are from black, minority and ethic backgrounds

  • 2 x large scale (40+ activities) countywide projects

  • Engage a further 2000 adults aged 16+ and retain 1,000 into regular exercise through clubs and classes

  • Continue to use a range of delivery models
