  2. Pushkar Camel Fair Every year, nearly half a million visitors descend on the tiny desert town of Pushkar in rural Rajasthan to attend the annual Pushkar Camel Fair. This five-day festival held during the full moon of the Hindu month of Kartik, which usually falls in October. Festivities include moustache-length competitions and camel races, and there’s even a camel beauty pageant! However, the main purpose of the festival is trade, and it’s the place to go if you want to buy or sell a camel.

Sometimes referred to as the Chariot Festival, festivities involve putting deities of Jagannath and his siblings on chariots and transporting them to the Gundicha Temple in a long and festive procession.
