  1. Amazon Best Seller Trends - How To Find Profitable Products Every Amazon seller wants to know what the best way is to rank their product on Amazon. What is the Amazon Best Sellers Rank? How do they get it? This blog post will answer these questions and more! In this blog post, I am going to give you a quick rundown of how the Amazon Best Sellers Rank works. We'll go over what it means, why it's important, and how you can improve your ranking on Amazon with three different ways: A/B Testing, Optimization Strategies from ASINspector Pro, and Tips from Seller Labs. If you're an amateur or professional seller looking for some insights into improving your rankings on Amazon then keep reading! The first thing we need to know is what the Amazon Best Sellers Rank means.

  2. What is the Amazon Best Sellers Rank? The best way to determine how well your product will perform on Amazon is by looking at its Amazon Best Sellers Rank (BSR). The BSR is a number between 1 and 100 that is assigned based off of sales volume in the last hour, last 24 hours, and in the last 30 days. Keep in mind though, there are some exceptions when it comes to products with an extremely large number of sales or variations that skew these numbers. Guidelines state that products/variations with more than 96 products may not be accurately reported by their score alone. This means if you have an item with 4 different color options then it will be treated as one product instead of 4! The Amazon Best Sellers Rank is updated every hour. This means if your BSR has gone up, it's possible that the rank will be even higher in an hour. We'll go over strategies to help you increase your Amazon Best Seller Rank in a little bit, but first let's go over what factors affect it! The Factors that Affect Your Amazon Best Seller Rank There are three different things that can affect your Amazon Best Sellers Rank Recent Sales Every time someone purchases an item from your listing or any other seller then this number will drop by 1. Keep in mind that this number gets multiplied by the # of units sold to determine the rank so the more items being sold, the higher this number

  3. will need to be. This means that it is imperative to find a product with extreme demand! How Long It's Been Since Your Last Sale Every hour on the hour, Amazon calculates how many items have been sold in the last 30 minutes and will give your BSR a boost depending on which quadrant you are in. Time of Day The time of day affects the Best Seller Rank too. This is because there are typically more sales during peak hours like 8am-12pm EST than outside of these times (sorry West Coasters!). Now that you know what factors affect your BSR, here are three strategies to help you increase it: A/B Testing Optimization Strategies from ASINspector Pro Tips from Seller Labs A/B Testing This is our favorite method. It's the most efficient because by testing, you are increasing your chances of finding a product that has great demand and can be sold for more! The concept behind A/B Testing is very simple: find two products with similar demand for each product, but different BSRs (one should have a higher rank than the other). If there is no difference in search volume then the higher BSR product will always outrank the lower one. This means you will make more money since you're selling it at a higher price! Now let's take a look at how to do this. First, log into Amazon and go to "Reports" on the top navigation bar. Next, click on "Best Sellers Rank" and select "Sellers".

  4. Now you'll need to create a new report and this will be different depending on your product category. Select the categories that you want to include in the comparison (we recommend checking at least two). By selecting multiple categories, you can do a more thorough analysis when finding similar products. After clicking the blue button, sort both columns by their BSR rank (high to low) and copy/paste all of them into excel sheets like so: Now we have two very long spreadsheets with several hundred listings in each one. The next step is rather tedious but crucial to A/B Testing. We need to find which listings are actually comparable so we can remove any listings that have a sizable difference in BSR. What we will do is add up the number of units sold for each 30 minute time block and then determine which product has the higher amount to make sure there isn't much of a difference when it comes to sales volume. In this example, 9 out of 10 products are safe to test since they both have a similar amount of units sold in the last 24 hours (2093 vs 2093). The other product should be removed from the A/B Testing comparison because its demand is much higher. That being said, you can still choose to test against it if you think it will outrank your original search results or use another strategy from this list! Now that you've created two lists of comparable products, it's time to find out which one will make you the most money! Before we get into that though, we need to talk about optimization strategies. We recommend splitting up your testing list into three parts: The 1st Tester should be ranked in the top 100 Remaining testers should all fall between ranks 101-499 The

  5. rest should be rank 500 and lower If you aren't familiar with how ranking works on Amazon, check out our post here . I know what you're thinking... "Why do I want my product falling under rank 500?" Well this is intentional because an item with a very low BSR (rank <100) is typically selling close or at its Buy Box purchase cost which means they are selling for their Cost + Shipping price. This means we won't be able to increase the sale price and still compete for the buy box (we want our product to sell with a profit!). Your product will typically achieve rank 100 in its respective category with about 20-50 units sold per day over time. For every 500 units sold, your BSR should go up by one rank which means if you're properly optimizing your listing , you should be able to maintain rank 100 most of the time (depending on search volume and competition). The reason we want most of our testers ranked between 101-499 is because they will all have enough sales to indicate demand without competing too much with each other. If we had them all ranked at around 100 then some would lose their buy box because the main competitor (with 500+ sales) will keep them out of the buy box with their low BSR. The last part of our strategy is to have the remaining listings rank between 500-1000 since they won't be able to compete for the buy box anyways so it's okay if they are ranked at a high number. We usually give each tester about two weeks before making any changes so we can build up enough data for accurate results.

  6. Now that you have your testing list, let's get back to A/B Testing! If you haven't already, download Rank Booster and import all of your products into our software . If you're already running Rank Booster then just select "Bulk" on the top menu bar and select "A/B Testing". On this screen, we will first need to create a control and risk for each product. This will be used as the baseline to calculate our relative lift for each product which is what Rank Booster calculates in order to determine if you should make changes to your listings. For the control , select your original listing (the one that has been ranking on it's own). Then for risk , choose a similar listing from your A/B testing list that ranks between 101-499. Now go ahead and click "Start A/B Test" and then "Confirm". You'll now see a spreadsheet with all of the data collected from our algorithm! The column that is highlighted yellow was the winner so I would recommend copying and pasting this data into your original excel file to begin making adjustments. Conclusion paragraph Finding products that can be profitable for your business is a difficult task. If you want to find the perfect product, take advantage of these three tips from ASINspector Pro and Seller Labs. You'll get actionable advice on how to analyze Amazon Best Seller Rank in different ways and improve your ranking!
