  • Maintain aviation safety as the #1 priority
    • Provide safe working environment for NOAA personnel and partners
    • Ensure aircraft meet FAA airworthiness and operational safety

NAO Revision Status

  • The following provisions of the Aviation Safety Policy are currently under revision. An initial draft is about to be circulated:
      • Aviation Safety Training detailed requirements (Section 6.07, Exhibit)
      • Medical Screening (Sections 5.06a, 6.06 – deleted)
      • Redefine Observer:
        • Once every 4 months on average
        • No more than 3 x per calendar year
      • Point-to-Point Transportation
        • Re-define in NAO
      • Training Table for water survival updated
        • All Mission operations over water - Anti-Exposure Suit

  • ALSE & CAS vendor inspector support contracts require

continuous mgmt and annual contract renewal

  • Compliance monitoring & CAS event reporting are

required by CFRs

    • Standardized procedures need to be developed
