  2. Many are shocked by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) 's triumph in Lahore and other urban areas in central Punjab, which has historically been considered the PML-N stronghold. Due to the PTI's resounding victory in pivotal Punjab, by-elections are likely to shape the country's political and economic future.

  3. Imran Khan conducted a ferocious campaign against individuals who abandoned the party and supported Hamza in the first election for the chief minister on April 16. He has also targeted the Establishment for failing to join him in foiling the 'plot' to dethrone him that the PML-N, PPP, and other parties had devised "with the support of the United States."

  4. Observers had anticipated that Parvez Elahi, the speaker of the Punjab Assembly and a joint candidate of the PTI and PML-Q for the re- election of the chief minister, would be hesitant to dissolve the assembly and would try to persuade Imran Khan to extend their time in power in the province in order to strike a further blow to the PML-N through state resources.
