  1. How is CBD Oil Extracted from the Hemp Plant to Treat Cancer?

  2. What is CBD? • Cannabis plants contain a variety of chemicals, including cannabidiol, which is also known as CBD. • Some have touted it as an alternative treatment or even a cure for a wide range of diseases, including cancer. •  Many cancer patients report that medical marijuanahelps manage their side effects and symptoms as a complementary therapy to standard cancer treatments.

  3. How is CBD sourced? • CBD is one of the hundreds of chemicals in flowering cannabis plants and is availaible in a marijuana dispensary. • CBD does not have the mind-altering or psychoactive effects of the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) found in cannabis. • The chemical THC emits a feeling of being ‘high’, whereas CBD is being used to treat pain, anxiety, and sleep disorders. • CBD is extracted from cannabis plants called hemp, which are grown according to specifications with a high CBD content and a low THC content. • Cannabis plants that contain high levels of THC are called marijuana.

  4. The oil extracted from the cannabis plant is CBD. • It can then be taken as a liquid, a capsule, a gummy, or inhaled via vaping. In addition, it can be found in lotions and patches for the skin.  • Cannabis oil has a varying potency depending on its origin and extraction method. Methods of extraction include isolate extraction, alcohol extraction, and CO2 extraction. •  Extracting cannabinoids from a whole cannabis plant with a high CBD content has been found to have the highest yield.

  5. Can CBD help people with cancer? • Medicinal cannabinoids in cannabis oil are known to kill cancer cells that are abnormally proliferating and mutating. • This is especially true in the early stages of cancer. To date, studies are being conducted on the extent of the benefit of CBD for cancer patients.  • While some scientists are examining whether CBD could treat some side effects of cancer, such as pain, insomnia, anxiety, or nausea. Other scientists are studying whether CBD might slow or stop the growth of cancer cells. • According to the American Society Of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) depending on your state of residence, your doctor may be able to prescribe cannabinoids for chronic pain management.

  6. The Takeaway  • The use of CBD may reduce some cancer-related symptoms as well as treatment side effects. Researchers are also exploring CBD's potential to treat cancer, but further research is required before any conclusions can be drawn. • We need more rigorous studies about the potential benefits and risks of CBD, dosing, administration, and how it affects other cancer treatments. • CBD can interact with other cancer treatments, so make sure you consult your doctor before taking it from a medical cannabis delivery.  • If you are interested in buying medical marijuana, apply for a medical marijuana card and buy 100% legal medical cannabis from our dispensaries in Missouri.
