What are the pros and cons of platinum plated rings versus sterling silver

1) Platinum plated rings have a plating of rhodium which is a Platinum family metal. Platinum rings are both extremely pure and extremely durable. “Sterling silver” is a name for a high quality silver alloy that contains 92.5% fine silver and 7.5% other metals.
2) Platinum rings are also more expensive because of its rarity and density. Sterling silver is an exquisitely beautiful, white, luminous precious metal but less expensive than platinum.
3) Just like gold, platinum doesn't tarnish, corrode, rust, or change colour over the years. And like gold, it's a great metal for making jewellery. It's dense, malleable, (moves easily) and at the same time, very strong. The main downside of sterling silver is its softness. It may scratch, bend and tarnish under repetitive daily wear, pressure or sudden knocks. So you need to clean it regularly to maintain its gleam.
