  1. Do’s and Don'ts of Car Insurance Claims in Dubai

  2. Accidents are uninvited guests in our daily life. Accidents can happen at any time, no matter how much careful we are. So If we are involved in an accident, what to do next is the important step that get us out of a lot of troubles. You need to be protected with adequate insurance covers to settle the loss keep in mind the accidents that can cause in your case. Here are some important steps that has to be done after we have been involved in an accident.

  3. Report the accident The first and foremost thing that has to be done once you met with an accident is to report it to the police. The police then inspects the accident scene and the vehicles involved. After this a red or green paper is given to both the drivers consisting summary of the accident and driver details.Keep in mind that a police report is a mandatory requirement for filing a vehicle insurance claim.

  4. Contact your car insurance provider The next step is to inform the car insurance provider when all parties are ready with all necessary documents. This must be done as soon as possible after the accident as delaying this may result in delaying of settlement charges or even denial. If you aren’t physically well, your relative or spouse can inform the agent on behalf of you.

  5. Take a picture of the damage Soon after considering everyone in car’s safety into consideration, take pictures of damaged car. It can help make a strong case for your claiming process. It can also act as a secure process of reporting an accident in the UAE, such as via the Dubai Police app, In Abu Dhabi the Saaed App and in Sharjah, it's the Rafid App respectively.to report a crash.

  6. Examine your motor insurance policy You need to be clear about what all things are covered and excluded under your policy. Understanding the policy very well will avoid negotiation during the final settlement.

  7. Keep copies of related documents Make sure to keep your medical bills, estimated repair costs, accident report, and of course the vehicle insurance policy with you. Now let us move on to the steps that we must avoid during our motor insurance claims.

  8. Don’t make any assumptions If you are involved in an accident, do not jump into an assumption that you are the one who is responsible for the cause of the accident. Just wait for the police to make the report, which may come in yours favour.

  9. Don’t accept the initial claim settlement Most times car insurance companies will try to settle the claim with minimum payout. If you have properly reviewed your policy and if it worth more go and renegotiate till you claim your settlement.

  10. Don’t sign the documents you know nothing about After all claims are processed and you are asked to sign any document, don’t do it instantly. Instead thoroughly read and proceed if you feel safe. And don't forget to go through the fine print in the document sheet. Or else you will end up paying repair charges.

  11. Delay in approaching your insurance company Taking too much time to claim your car insurance in Dubai is not good as there is a chance of considering it as null. Also don't miss any calls or meeting with the agents after the submission of claim. As timely submission of your claim and frequent follow ups only does helps you in getting most of your claims.
