At present, businessman Omar Haedo oversees operations at the Puerto Rico-based consultancy he founded in 1997, IKON Benefits Group, Inc. From offices in San Juan, Mr. Haedo and his colleagues provide corporations with insurance products, risk assessments, business development and human resources solutions, and payroll support. Omar Haedo brings to his role years of experience in the industry, including a successful tenure at CIGNA HealthCare. Since forming IKON Group, Omar Haedo has achieved several noteworthy accomplishments. IKON Group finished 2009 with more than $13 million in billings and enjoyed a portfolio consisting of hundreds of corporate clients. The following year, the firm held responsibility for insuring approximately 10 percent of the entire private workforce in Puerto Rico. Now, IKON Group operates as one of the biggest companies of its kind in the Caribbean. Mr. Haedo plans to continue offering insurance services in the region through his latest endeavor, ELAN Insurance Solutions. The only seller of Blue Cross Blue Shield products in the U.S. Virgin Islands, ELAN will cater to individuals who travel to the area for medical reasons. Omar Haedo completed two years of coursework at Houghton College in New York before transferring to the Metropolitan Campus of the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, where he studied management, finance, and computer science en route to obtaining his Bachelor of Arts; he graduated summa cum laude from the institution in 1987. Active with the Society for Human Resource Management and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, Omar Haedo also involves himself in his local religious community. He formerly served on the board for the San Juan Community Library at Bucaplaa and regularly attends services at Guaynabo, Puerto Rico’s Wesleyan Church. A singer, guitarist, and pianist, he additionally directed a church choir for more than a dozen years.
