  4. EEMUA • EEMUA is a European-based non-profit industry Association with a global reputation. • EEMUA serves a variety of industry sectors: chemicals, food, pharmaceuticals, energy, power generation, and others.

  5. EEMUA • The Association is intended for companies that use engineering equipment and materials in the construction, operation and management of chemical process plants, offshore rigs, refineries, power stations, storage, distribution and transport systems, and similar industrial and production assets. • Suppliers / vendors and other organisations that do not qualify as Members may be admitted to EEMUA as Associates.

EEMUA • EEMUA Members are involved in: • Networking, communicating and sharing their experiences as the users of engineering equipment and materials, and as the owners / operators of industrial assets; • Developing and promoting best practices in engineering, plant operations and asset management; • Influencing the way regulations are interpreted / applied, and helping to develop Standards, particularly where these affect safety, business costs and efficiency; • Providing interpretation of relevant European Directives and resulting national legislation.

  8. EEMUA • EEMUA has a rich heritage dating back more that 50 years: • The Engineering Equipment Users Association (EEUA) was founded in 1950; in 1983, it amalgamated with the Oil Companies Materials Association (OCMA), also founded in the early 1950s, to form EEMUA.

Governance of EEMUA • EEMUA is governed by a Council of Members • A sub-Committee of Council, known as the Council Management Committee (CMC) , develops strategic proposals and oversees the operations of EEMUA between Council meetings. • From a legal perspective, EEMUA is a company limited by guarantee and registered in England: Members’ representatives on Council act as the company directors of EEMUA Limited

Organisation of EEMUA EEMUA Council Main governing body of the Association Council Management Committee (CMC) Technical Committees / Forums Standing Committees of EEMUA, or Management Forums, each with a particular area of focus Representatives on management committees for EEMUA training courses Working Parties Project teams set-up by Council, CMC or Technical Committees, with a specific task and timescale Representatives on BSI and other external bodies

Organisation of EEMUA • Technical Committees and Working Parties • Much of the work at EEMUA is carried out through its Technical Committees and Working Parties • Technical Committees comprise experts from Member companies and others with an interest • Currently there are 11 Technical Committees • They can be formed or disbanded by Council as the situation warrants • Members can ask for the formation of a new Technical Committee if they feel it is needed
