Achieving Appropriate Density in Hair Transplantation Through North Shore Hair Transplant Specialist

At North Shore Hair Transplant Specialists, we use precision controlled techniques that have changed the way donor grafts are harvested and placed. N.S.H.T.S also uses the expansion technique, microscopic ultra refined follicular dissection and extraction, feathering techniques, unique hairline framework design and an intricate 2 layer trichophytic closure for the FU procedure. This provides natural looking density in one procedure. North Shore Hair Transplant Specialists are known for creating aesthetically pleasing hairlines with artistic ability.<br>Read More: https://www.chicagohairtransplantspecialists.com/

  1. Achieving Appropriate Density in Hair Transplantation Through North Shore Hair Transplant Specialists

  2. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) FUE: ( Follicular Unit Extraction) A process of transferring follicles from donor to recipient area by decreasing density of the donor region. With FUE, the formation of multiple scars are spread out rather than forming a linear scar.  FUE is advantageous in younger patients- usually with hair loss classes of 2 or 3 and possibly early hair loss 4.  FUE is another tool to add density for patients who have had previous FUT procedures and lack laxity in the donor region.  Scar repair in the donor area can be achieved with FUE.  FUE extraction sites heal quicker in the donor region, (the recipient sites heal the the same as FUT) .

  3. After the first FUE procedure a patient can usually wear a shorter hair style than FUT (as graft extractions progress with future hair loss this is not an advantage).  Dr. Keller uses the manual extraction technique and the motorized SAFE System to perform FUE extractions. The disadvantages of FUE are that the grafts are thinner and have less support tissue. The grafts are more susceptible to damage and have a higher transection rate. There are healing scars, or spots, that could show due to decreased density in the donor region. For the FUE procedure the hair has to be shaved in the donor area, which could take a few months to grow back.  FUE is a variant of the "plug" procedure. It is more labor intensive, time consuming and has a higher cost.

  4. The follicles are thinner and with less support tissue (usually there is some adventitia only around the follicle). The maximum number of grafts from the "Safe Zone" is 2,500-3,000 grafts. With FUE approximately every 3rd follicular unit is extracted resulting in decreased density in the back of the head. In cases of over 3,000 grafts, follicular units would be taken in regions lower than the "Safe Zone", ( nape hair), or higher than the "Safe Zone", (upper hair fringe). In large cases, our patients are informed that above 2,500-3,000 grafts the hair might not be permanent.

  5. -vs- Artas Robotic Hair Hand Held Manual & Motorized 1. senses & removes without regard to wavy or curly hair. 2. works best with thin straight brown hair. 3. not currently approved for females. 4. can have inflated cost. 5. can be used as a marketing tool for an inexperienced surgeon. 1. Cherry picks the size of the grafts used for follicular units.2. Much better with curly wavy hair.3. Lower transection rate.4. Provides surgeon with tactile feed back in regards to resistance in tissue.

  6. Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) FUT: (Follicular Unit Transplantation) is a process of extraction of a section of mid donor region hairs. FUT does not diffusely decrease the donor region. The scar is in a linear pattern with various types of closures performed. Ultra refined follicular units are dissected microscopically with very minimal transection rates. FUT has true follicular grouping with intact support and hair maintenance structures. By removing a section of donor hair the density of the rest of the donor hair is left intact. FUT is utilizing permanent donor hair in even large sessions and subsequent sessions. Usually the number of permanent hair follicular units is 5,000-7,000 grafts and above.

  7. A trichophytic closure can be used with most skin types. This allows the hair to grow through the donor scar. FUT is advantageous for patients who wish to have a more predictable density and allows for more recipient artistry because the units have more body, support tissue and direction. Disadvantages of FUT: The donor region does take longer to heal. Patients that choose this technique should leave their hair 1/2 inch or slightly longer since everyone does heal differently. There will be a linear scar.

  8. Surgical Hair Restoration The concepts of hair transplantation utilize permanent, genetically programmed hair from the back or sides of the head, (donor region), and meticulously redistributes them into receptor sites ultra refined follicular units or extraction units. Ultra refined follicular units range from one to four follicles per graft. At North Shore Hair Transplant Specialists we believe that the transplantation of hair is more than surgery. It is an art. We use a feathering technique by placing the fine, single hair grafts at the front of the hairline, and then placing two or three hair grafts towards the back to add density and fullness.

  9. The cost of the hair transplant procedure varies depending on how many grafts are needed, if it is corrective surgery and if FUT or FUE is performed. We offer a complimentary consultation, during which Dr. Richard Keller will evaluate the area and suggest the number of recommended grafts. Patients receive the best value for excellent quality and outstanding services. The results are astonishing and well worth the cost.

  10. ACell'sMatriStem products are FDA approved for the treatment of a wide range of regenerative and tissue repair applications in wounds and surgical soft tissue repair. Dr. Keller uses ACell to assist in the healing process in the donor and recipient areas during the hair restoration procedure.

  11. Procedures >Restoring Natural Hair for Men and Women >Corrective Surgeries For Improper Transplants Performed Elsewhere >Corrective Surgeries For Restoring Post-facial Surgery, Sideburns, Frontal Hairline and Eyebrows >Corrective Surgery For Trauma And Burn Patients >Single Hair Feathering Technique For Thinning Hair

  12. Non-Surgical Hair Restoration When researching information about hair loss treatments, you will find a host of creams, ointments, lotions, nutrition supplements, and scalp stimulants, all promising to stop hair loss and regrow hair.  However, you will find only two that have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and that are recommended by hair restoration specialists: Rogaine® and Propecia®. Hair restoration products not approved by the FDA are often a waste of money and can be harmful.
