How to Use the Bezel Function on Tudor Diving Watches? Tudor diving watches come with a unidirectional rotating bezel, which can be used to time dives in an effective manner. Movement The bezel can be rotated only in the counter-clockwise direction. It is a deliberately done, so you will err on the side of caution, in case of any accidental manipulation. For instance, if there is a slight movement of the bezel, you might overestimate your dive time and come out earlier. This is certainly safer than underestimating the time and staying longer than the amount of oxygen supply you have. Unidirectional bezels are usually ratcheted so that the bezel gets locked in position unless a certain amount of force is applied by hand. Timing the dive The rotating bezel is usually marked with Arabic numeral minute markers and a triangle at the 12 o’clock position. Just rotate the bezel to align the triangle with the minute hand as the dive begins. The markers on the bezel are used to read time spent underwater. To know the remaining time, one has to subtract total dive time from 60. If you have 30 minutes of oxygen supply left, rotate the bezel till the minute hand points at 30 (60-30). Now, the triangle marker on the bezel is the time when your oxygen supply will run out. The bezel is a very effective mechanism on Tudor diving watches, so you must know how to use it properly.
