These foreign students are a source of skilled labor for the future: upon graduation, they may be eligible for permanent residence under certain immigration programs such as the Canadian Experience Class, (launched in 2008). International students are ideal candidates to immigrate to Canada given that they have Canadian studies credentials, a master of at least one of the official languages and most of them have work experience. Immigration Process Potential applicants for permanent residence are ranked based on a point system. Points can be awarded for one or more of the following: •A job offer; •An appointment by a province or territory; •Skill and experience factors. •A candidate may earn additional points for one or more of the following: •A job offer supported by a study of the impact on the labor market;

The skilled work experience gained in Canada through the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program helps graduates qualify for permanent residence in Canada through Express Entry.
