It is estimated that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime. These programs are a type of social service that helps victims of family violence to get out of abusive relationships and learn how to live without fear. They also provide them with the necessary tools to avoid any future abuse. In Georgia, there are several FVIPs available for victims of domestic abuse. The programs provide counseling sessions, legal assistance, shelter, childcare, and other types of support for victims and their families. A Family Violence Intervention Program, also known as a FIP, is a program that assists families who are experiencing domestic violence. A FIP will provide help for the family, including counseling and other resources to help the family overcome their circumstances.
