  1. Why Are Smoking Cessation Programs Important? Do you need to smoke when you are in a stressful situation? If the answer is yes, then you are putting your life into a difficult situation. You need to understand that it harms you both physically and mentally. The above facts are not new. Every person be it a smoker, or a non-smoker is aware of this. But even after knowing these facts, they find it difficult to quit smoking. But there are some methods to make people aware of the life-threatening effects of the same and help them quit it. One of them is conducting a Smoking Cessation Program. What is a Smoking Cessation Program?

  2. First of all, you need to know what is meant by smoking cessation. The term means "to quit smoking". Smoking cessation programs are the programs conducted to help people to quit smoking. Why are Smoking Cessation Programs necessary? Smoking cessation is necessary to reduce the risks associated with both mind and heart. It is essential to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and inflammatory diseases as well. Stopping smoking increases life-span and has positive effects on the body. It's indeed hard to quit smoking on your own. Support programs increase the chances of helping people quit smoking. Smoking cessation programs are organised by hospitals, health departments, worksites, community centres and national organisations. How to choose a good Smoking Cessation Program for yourself? The best cessation programs of smoking combine approaches and target the problems and fears you encounter when you try to quit smoking. To select a good cessation program, you should beware of the following programs and stay away from them: Beware of the programs that are short and offer no help overtime. Do not be a part of the programs that charge a high fee. Beware of the programs that offer pills that are not available outside the conducted program. Also, quitting a long-term habit is not easy. So beware of the programs that make fake promises to help you to quit smoking in a short period. Role of WHO in Smoking Cessation

  3. WHO has made many efforts for smoking cessation. Some of them are : 1.They prepared a toolkit for oral professionals to deliver brief tobacco interventions in primary care. It gave evidence of associations between tobacco use and oral diseases. 2.In 2014, they conducted training for tobacco quit-line counsellors. 3.It also made a self-help guide in 2014 for people to quit smoking. It was entitled " Strengthening health systems for treating tobacco dependence in primary care." 4.It also made a guide for people with tuberculosis to quit smoking. 5.In 2004, WHO made a European strategy for smoking cessation policy. This policy aims to provide guidelines to the member states to build up their smoking quitting activities. Many people smoke, but 70% of them want to quit it as well. Wanting to quit is also a significant matter. It is the first step towards smoking cessation. It is not at all easy to quit it at once; it requires much patience and practice. But once you have decided, no one can stop you. The progress may be slow, but you will win. Source - Evernote
