  1. Is Ethereum going to overtake Bitcoin in the future?

  2. Ethereum is currently the second highest cryptocurrency by market capital just after Bitcoin. It was founded in 2015 and since its inception it has managed to generate stellar returns on Investment. There have been a lot of speculations whether Ethereum would be able to overtake Bitcoin in terms of market capitalisation and become the number 1 cryptocurrency in the world. In this article we will discuss a few points as to why these speculations can turn into reality and along with that we will also help you get started with your first investment in Ethereum by showing you the best place to buy Ethereum in Canada.

  3. Firstly lets get started with a few points explaining Ethereum’s superiority to Bitcoin.

  4. 1) Ethereum for Smart ContractsEthereumhas this amazing feature which has revolutionised the whole idea of a contract. A smart contract can be referred to a contract that does not need any human intervention and it’s clauses can easily be implemented without the need of any legal authority (such as a lawyer etc). If two parties decide the clauses before hand and one of the party fails to comply then her/she will be automatically be penalised for it. Smart contracts have changed the traditional way that many businesses operate on and at the same time bring a lot of safety for anyone using them.

  5. 2) Ethereum and Decentralized ApplicationsEthereumcan be used as a layer to develop several decentralised applications or DAPPS. The whole purpose of a decentralised application is to ensure there no authority over the application by any single person. These standalone applications utilize smart contracts and run on the theEthereumblockchain. Some examples include micro-payments platforms, reputation functions, online gambling apps, schedulers and P2P marketplaces.

  6. 3) Ethereum and it’s transaction speedsWhile Bitcoin started the whole phenomenon of crypto currencies and executing transactions in the blockchain space, its transaction speeds were very slow and it took minutes to execute one single  transaction. Ethereum on the other end executes transactions in seconds making it much faster that Bitcoin.

  7. Final Conclusion:While Bitcoin is merely a currency used for transactions there are a lot more use cases to Ethereum and some of these are mentioned in the points above. Ethereum has many more exciting projects lined up and is constantly looking to adapt and evolve with time which makes it an exciting prospect for the future. In my opinion Ethereum can definitely overtake Bitcoin in the future to become the top cryptocurrency in the market.
