  3. Tips for keeping your lungs healthy Prevention is the best medicine, and it is much more important to preserve your lungs’ health than to attempt to repair them after something goes wrong. Do the following to keep your lungs healthy: •Stop smoking to prevent irritants from the second hand or from the environment •Eat antioxidant-rich foods. •Get vaccines such as pneumonia and flu vaccine. This can lead to reducing lung infections and improving lung health. •Exercise more often to improve the work of your lungs. •Improve the quality of indoor air. Using devices such as indoor air filters and reduce contaminants such as synthetic fragrances, mold, and dirt. Regular exercise can improve the physical and mental health of individuals and decreases the risk of many complications of health, including stroke and heart disease. Exercise causes the muscles to work harder, which increases the respiration rate of the body, leading to increased oxygen supply to the muscles. It also increases breathing, making the body more effective when exercising to remove the excess carbon dioxide that the body produces. The body will begin to adjust to meet regular exercise requirements. The muscles should learn to more effectively use oxygen and generate less carbon dioxide. The main purpose of doing these activities is to achieve more oxygen for the body. A good supply of oxygen is related to better functioning of the skin. It is, therefore, necessary to perform these exercises correctly and to obtain desired results one must experience the expansion of their chest cavity.
