  1. SOME INFORMATION ABOUT THE INTERNAL FIXATIONS AND THEIR KINDS A bone fracture has become a common factor for most of us. It causes much pain to the individual. History of medical science states that doctors previously relied on casting and splints to support broken bones externally. Times have changed, and surprisingly, in every decade, medical science is progressing incessantly. Doctors are introducing new methods, processes, and devices for curing or healing pain. They have also initiated new equipment, which involves internal and external fixation of the patient. Moreover, these devices assist in reducing the pain of broken bones. How long? Well, until the patient’s body is comfortable enough to carry his or her weight and can comfortably move. Sounds cool, right? Well, if so then these other facts about internal and external fixation will also excite you. So, let’s have a look at it. What’s the USP of Latest Surgical Methods? The latest and sterile surgical methods, famous in today’s world reduce the risk of infection. In fact, this helps to fix and stabilize the fracture of bones. Even there are different kinds of internal fixation, which heals varied broken bones of the patients. What is the meaning of internal fixations? In Orthopaedics, an operative surgery involves any surgical implementation of any sort of implant to repair the broken bone. This is called internal fixation. The implantation can be of pins, plates, or screws, which helps to hold the fragmented portion of the bone in its proper place. In return, this method helps keep a hold on the stable fixation of the fractures with less devascularization. Moreover, the fixation is immovable from the patient’s body. This helps to heal the pain from the broken bone. Composition of Internal Fixation: Internal fixation is made up of long-lasting and tough materials like titanium alloy or stainless steel. In case of excessive damage, physicians often decide to replace the joint, other than fixing it. In such cases, the doctor uses chrome or cobalt. These materials are suitable for the human body and have also proved non-allergic to most patients’ bodies. Kinds of Internal Fixations:

  2. Different illnesses have different medicine. Similarly, different kinds of fracture comprise varied internal fixation kinds. Based on the type of bone fractures, the physicians decide the internal fixations type that needs to be done. Even the severity of the injury decides on the kinds of fixations. The types are discussed below: ● Plates: This is a kind of internal fixation which has similar functions to splints. Actually, this keeps the broken pieces of the bone together. In fact, the plates used for fractures usually are attached with the help of various screws. Moreover, based on the severity of the injury, the doctor decides whether to keep the surgical plates as it is or not, after healing the bone. There are three kinds of plates in use. ● Screw: It is a typical internal fixation method for repairing the broken bone screws. This is used very often, and even different kinds of screws are also available. Based on the damage level and severity of the injury, the physician decides which screws should be implanted. As a matter of fact, varied screw sizes are available, and these are used on that bone, which has gone through implantation. Moreover, screws are being used only to keep a hold on the broken bone. Rods, nails, plates, and screws can be used all together for internal fixations. After healing, the screws can be left as it is or can be removed as well. ● Nails or Rods: Rods or nails are used to provide the best hold in some severe fracture. By inserting a nail or rod via the hollow portion of the bone, which contains some marrow, can keep the pieces of bones together. Even the screws are applied on both ends of the rod. It helps fracture to be immovable and shortening as well. Until the fracture heals, the rod holds the broken bone in a proper position. This method is commonly used for treating the major fracture in the femur, i.e., thigh bone and tibia, i.e., shinbone. ● Wires or pins: Pins and wires are utilized to pin back the bone together. Often we have noticed that the pieces of bones are too small to be attached with the help of screws. This can be done comfortably with the help of wires. In some cases, it has been used as a conjunction with any other form of internal fixations. Also, they can be used all alone to fix or heal the broken bones. This can be removed after cure or maybe kept permanently in some kind of fracture. Where to find the best internal fixation apparatus? Spinal fixation is also possible with the help of rods, screws, and plates. These kinds of internal fixation help to heal any broken bone in any part of the body. These are comfortably available in Medical Equipment Companies. Original Source: https://trans4mind.com/counterpoint/index-health-fitness/internal-fixations.html
