  1. How to Avoid Common Mistakes Knitting on Circular Needles? Knitting on circular needles is amazing! With the same pair of knitting needles, you can try knitting flat projects as well as patterns that need to be knitted in the round. Now, circular knitting needles are definitely superstars of the knitting world, but if you are a beginner working on the circular for the first time, there will be a few obstacles. You will be making common mistakes, but here we’ll discuss how to avoid them and even fix them. Before starting, let us share a secret: there’s very little difference between knitting on straight needles and circulars. Save for a few, learning how to fix knitting mistakes on circular needles actually means fixing mistakes on the right side of the WIP. The easiest cure to fixing mistakes is to not make them and to do that, you need some practice with some quick projects. So, the next time you work on circular knitting needles, here’s what you need to look out for. Losing the Beginning of the Round Knitting in the circular needles for seamless projects often lands up in the problem of losing the beginning of the round. The fix is to find the tail of the yarn at your cast-on edge. Identify where it meets the edge from there, and follow the stitches to get to the first stitch of the

  2. round! It is best that you place a stitch marker between the last stitch and the first stitch of the round so you don’t lose your place again. There’s a Gap in the Cast On Round This is another common problem for beginners when knitting in the round on circular needles with many solutions. If you have noticed this long after you have knitted for rows, then after binding off you can correct the mistake. Pick up a crochet hook or darning needle, take the tail of your yarn, and pull it through the first stitch of the round. Cinch tightly and weave that end in. To avoid the mistake before starting, try the invisible join as you cast on, or begin your round by knitting a few stitches with both your working yarn and your tail. Knitting Inside Out There is a rule in knitting, never put the knitting down in the middle of the row or round. When you take it back up again, you may notice that suddenly your beautiful pattern of stockinette stitch has turned into reverse stockinette stitch, or what appears to be garter stitch. This is because you have started knitting in inside out. It means either your project is flipped inside out and you’re now working the wrong side as the right side, or you’ve been working backward by re-working previously worked stitches. Beginners often don’t realize the mistake quickly. They often get confused by why the project is now growing up from your needles rather than down. If you’ve only knit a round or two, simply tink back the other way until you get to the change in stitch pattern, and flip your work. If you’ve gone many rounds in the wrong direction, insert a lifeline and frog back to the most recently correctly knitted round.

  3. Keeping the above points in mind, you can easily begin knitting with circular needles for any project or pattern. Happy knitting! Source: https://medium.com/@mindfulknitpro/how-to-avoid-common-mistakes-knitting- on-circular-needles-c9f86054147d
