Bush on his first visit to Israel as president:
Our alliance guarantees Israel’s security as a Jewish state
Headline Debkafile January 9 2008
“We see new opportunities for peace in the Holy Land and the region,” said US president George W. Bush in the red-carpet state ceremony at Ben-Gurion, Wed. Jan. 9. His 50-hour stay in Israel and the Palestinian Authority began amid high security and general scepticism about the prospects of his two-state solution of the Palestinian-Israeli dispute taking off by the end of his presidency.
His first appointments are with president Shimon Peres and prime minister Ehud Olmert. Thursday, he meets Palestinian leaders in Ramallah and Israeli opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu. The US president will also pay private visits to Bethlehem and Galilee. More than 8,000 Israeli police were drafted to secure the visit. Comment
Zion / Jerusalem is the apple of the Lord God’s eye we are told in Zechariah 2:8.
The day before President Bush flew out to Jerusalem we read Psalm 17 in the daily readings. Righteous King David wrote this Psalm – asking God to keep him as the “apple of the eye”. He then speaks of deadly enemies oppressing him and speaking proudly. He then compares these enemies to a “young lion”. He then refers to the young lion as “him”. He calls on God to disappoint HIM and cast HIM down.
David then speaks of the resurrection in the final verse of Psalm 17.
It is interesting that President Bush has just visited the “apple of God’s eye”.
America is symbolically described as a “young lion”. Has he gone there as a friend or enemy? As he is encouraging Israel to divide Jerusalem – the apple of God’s eye he has surely gone there as an enemy of the righteous. David’s prayer therefore becomes our prayer in verse 13. “Arise, O LORD, disappoint HIM, cast HIM down.” We know these godless plans will fail – the resurrection is near.
Bible Quote Psalm 17 12 Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.13 Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down:

Bush urges Israeli occupation end
Headline BBConline January 10 2008
US President George W Bush has said Israel must end its occupation of some Arab land to enable the creation of a viable Palestinian state.
He also urged a solution to the issue of Palestinian refugees that would involve paying them compensation.
It is thought to be Mr Bush's strongest public statement pressing Israel to give up land it seized in the 1967 war.
He was speaking in Jerusalem following two days of separate talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders.
President Bush has told Israel this week that it must end the occupation of land that it captured in 1967. America thinks it is acting as a friend to Israel though in fact it is encouraging Israel to think as a harlot. Israel has been gradually seduced over the last 40 years that by giving up land given to them by God will bring peace.
America has finally decided this is the case as well and is now pursuing this action with all its energy. It is this final push by a so called “friend” that will bring destruction.
In Jeremiah 2, we read about Israel forsaking God and God’s answer to this. Verse 7 in the NIV reads “I brought you into a fertile land to eat its fruit and rich produce. But you came and defiled my land and made my inheritance detestable.” In verse 14 God continues “Is Israel a servant? is he a homeborn slave? why is he spoiled?” WHAT IS THE ANSWER?..... “The young lions roared upon him, and yelled, and they made his land waste”. God did indeed bring them into a fertile land. (It was barren though before Israel arrived.) Israel has been chosen to be HIS witness. God has regathered them. But note again that it is the “young lions” that roar and yell and cause the land to be made waste. The King of the North will accomplish this.
Bible Quote Jeremiah 2 15 The young lions roared upon him, and yelled, and they made his land waste: his cities are burned without inhabitant.
Bush 'hopeful' for Mid-East peace
Headline BBConline January 10 2008
US President George W Bush has said he is "very hopeful" that Israeli and Palestinian peace talks can succeed.
After talks with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in Jerusalem, Mr Bush said he was prepared to exert pressure so that a deal could be reached this year.
Mr Bush is using his first trip as president to Israel and the West Bank to boost peace talks begun last year.
Mr Olmert said he was committed to dealing with the core issues of the conflict with the Palestinians.
It's a historic opportunity to work for peace," Mr Bush said. "If there needs to be a little pressure then you know I will provide it."
We saw on the previous slide that Jeremiah 2 speaks of the “young lions” roaring and yelling. The amplified version of the Bible says that the young lions roared over Israel and “made their voice heard”.
Is this not what is happening here. Bush says he will exert pressure on Israel. He is making his voice heard! Not only that but Tony Blair has also added his voice this week as well saying that there was “no option” but to have Israel and Palestine as two separate states living side by side.
And so we are listening to talk of peace. We know from 1 Thessalonians 5:3 that when people are talking about peace that sudden destruction comes.
How long will these peace talks go on until this destruction does come? We do not know.
But we do know that this verse does NOT say when there IS peace but when they SAY peace. In other words when they are talking, speaking and exhorting about peace.
Bible Quote 1 Thessalonians 5 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. The word “say” = mention, speak about, teach, exhort!!
Former chief Rabbi to Bush: Don't act against God’s will
Headline Israelnews January 10 2007
In a letter handed to US President George Bush Thursday, former Sephardic Chief Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu admonished the US president to avoid any course of action that would harm the Jewish nation.
“The Jewish nation is eternal, and forever remembers those that have aided it throughout history, as well as those that have done it harm. Please let your name go down in history as a president who aided the Jewish nation, who worked alongside God and not against him,” wrote the rabbi.
Rabbi Eliyahu began his letter with greetings for President Bush and praise for his efforts to bring peace to the region. With that, he then told the American president that “his agenda for peace goes against the will of God”.
The Rabbi continued and stressed that “anyone who accepts the bible as the word of God must keep in mind that God had promised the land of Israel to the Jewish people alone. The Ishmaelites have no part of this divine guarantee.”
This letter written on parchment, much like a Torah scroll was handed to the president. It was signed by the News Jewish Congress, the Sanhedrin, and the Temple Mount Faithful Movement.
This World Watch has tried to show that the involvement of America as a young lion in the final division of the “apple of God’s eye” will bring destruction on Israel.
President Bush has been warned of this in a personal letter. The will of God is NOT for Israel to be divided. It is NOT a land for the descendents of Ishmael.
Though the king of the south is against the king of the north (who invades Israel) it appears that it is the king of the south that finally persuades Israel to give up her
land and hence the final judgement on Israel comes. President Bush has been warned.
Bible Quote Ezekiel 33 7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto
the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.
UN Secretary calls on Israelis and Palestinians to stop Gaza violence Headline Debkafile January 19 2008
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon appealed Friday night, Jan. 18, to Palestinians for “an immediate cessation” of sniper and rocket attacks and for “maximum restraint” by the Israeli military.
The UN secretary’s appeal came four days after Hamas and its allies fired 165 Qassam, 76 mortar rounds and one Katyusha rocket at Israeli civilian locations, causing injuries and damage. Israeli operations to quell the attacks left 30 Palestinians dead, but failed to halt them. Ban Ki-moon finally stepped in when Israel closed the border crossings into the Gaza Strip and cut fuel supplies for the duration of the Palestinian bombardment. Friday night, the Israeli air force bombed empty Hamas ministry and military buildings in Gaza. A woman was killed at a wedding taking place near the ministry building and 50 people injured.
This week has seen a massive increase in violence between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. 165 Qassam rockets have been fired at Israel in just a few days. The graph above shows the number of rockets fired at Israel from 2002 until now. You will note the sudden increase - remarkably this coincided with Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza in the year 2005. Since then the attacks have constantly increased. Far from bringing peace, Gaza has become an ever increasing thorn in Israel’s side.
Though the Palestinians may not be directly related by descent to the ancient Philistines it seems clear that the two peoples have a huge amount in common. The Philistines dwelt in the same cities and controlled much of the same coast as the Gaza Strip, and the term 'Palestine' is cognate with the word Philistine. After 2000 years, Israel was recreated and at the same time so were their ancient enemy…..
Bible Quote Ezekiel 25 15 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with a despiteful heart, to destroy it for the old hatred; 16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast.

Israeli test-fires new long-range missile
Headline Associated Press January 17 2008
Israel on Thursday successfully tested a new long-range missile, senior defence officials said, and reports indicated the missiles are capable of being armed with nuclear warheads.
Israel radio reported the ground-to-ground missile can carry conventional or non-conventional warheads. The radio report named the missile "Jericho-3," meaning it would be an advanced version of the current Jericho missiles already said by foreign intelligence agencies to be capable of delivering nuclear warheads.
With all the talk of peace in recent weeks and all the “optimism” of President Bush that Israel and the Palestinians will finally live together (in two states) in harmony we still see increasing preparations for conflict.
Nations do not test missiles of this nature as a matter of course. It is looked upon by enemy nations as sabre rattling and threatening behaviour.
The Iranian leader spoke shortly after Israel announced it had test-fired a ballistic missile. He said, "The Zionist regime... would not dare attack Iran. It knows that any attack on Iranian territories would prompt a fierce response. The Zionist entity... is not lacking new weapons in its arsenal, but I believe it will not save it from its doomed collapse."
Joel 3 is a chapter speaking of the final conflict over Israel. It speaks of all nations being gathered to Israel to battle. It speaks of the land being “parted” or “divided”. It speaks of destruction coming on the coasts of the Philistines (Gaza). It also speaks of the huge preparations for war beforehand. With nations beating their plowshares into swords and their pruning hooks into spears. In other words the nations put their energy/resources not into living peacefully but into the military and weapons.
Bible Quote 1 Thessalonians 5 10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.
Desperate Palestinians Crash Through Border
Headline ABCnews January 23 2008
Palestinian militants blew up sections of the security fence between
Gaza and Egypt overnight, triggering a mass exodus as thousands
of refugees crossed into Egypt in search of food and supplies.
This event may be significant. So far Egypt has been unable to stop Palestinians pouring over the Gaza/Egypt border. The 10km long wall along southern Gaza has almost totally been demolished. Announcing that Egypt would not expel the hundreds of thousands of Gazan Palestinians who have crossed into N. Sinai, President Hosni Mubarak redeployed his special border force from the Gazan border to points further south. This has effectively handed over to the control of Hamas-led Palestinian terrorist organizations northern Sinai enclave of roughly 855 sq, km., twice the area of the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip.
And so suddenly, Hamas has acquired a new stronghold outside Israel’s military reach while their missiles and guns retain access to Israeli targets from the Gaza Strip.
Hamas must retain the ability to continually improve its strategic position vis-à-vis Israel by bringing in more advanced weaponry to Gaza - mines, antitank weapons, longer range and more powerful rockets, and even surface-to-air missiles. The key for Hamas is to control the Gazan border with Egypt.
If Egypt does not stop the situation Israel maybe forced to act itself. At some point they will have to launch a military operation to re-secure Gaza's southern border, and perhaps re-occupy the Philadelphi Corridor. (the strip of land along the border of Gaza and Egypt). We watch these events knowing that any change in borders (or control of borders) around Israel will bring trouble. Let us watch developments!
What we do know is that Russia will one day pass through this very border to Egypt.
Bible Quote Daniel 1141 He shall enter also into the glorious land,…. 42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
Israel may have to take military action against Iran: Bolton
Headline MiddleEastTimes January 21 2008
Former US ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton said on Monday that Israel may have to take military action to prevent its archfoe Iran from acquiring an atomic bomb. Bolton also said that further UN sanctions against the Islamic republic will be ineffective in stopping Iran's controversial nuclear programme which Israel and the US believe is aimed at developing a bomb -- a claim denied by Tehran. "One can say with some assurance that in the next year the use of force by the United States is highly unlikely," Bolton told AFP on the sidelines of the Herzliya conference on the balance of Israel's national security. "That increases the pressure on Israel in that period of time... if it feels Iran is on the verge of acquiring that capability, it brings the decision point home to use force," he said.
It does seem as though America has given up on the idea of attacking Iran and has passed the baton to Israel. There are a number of reasons for this change. A recent US report concluded that Iran had not attempted to produce nuclear weapons. Also America continues to be stretched from a military point of view. It does not want another conflict. There have been an increasing number of comments from senior US people saying that Israel must shoulder the responsibility of attacking Iran.
John Bolton (quoted above) also said once Tehran has the weapon there is a risk of retaliation with nuclear capability “and that’s why Israel is in danger it is a very small country and two or three nuclear weapons (and) there is no more country. The window of time available is narrow.”
A senior Israeli security official commented on the American ex-official’s words: "One should listen very closely to what Bolton has to say.”
With Bible in hand we can see how Israel IS isolated at the end. How Iran is left able to attack Israel with Russia. America (young lion) is left on the sidelines.
Bible Quote Ezekiel 16 37 I am going to gather all your lovers, with whom you
found pleasure, those you loved as well as those you hated. I will gather them against you….
India launches Israeli satellite
Headline BBConline January 21 2008
India has successfully launched an Israeli spy satellite into orbit, officials at the Sriharikota space station in southern India say.
The Israeli press is reporting that the satellite will improve Israel's ability to monitor Iran's military activities.
Indian officials say that given these sensitivities, the operation was secret and carried out under tight security.
The Tecsar satellite - sometimes referred to as the Polaris - was put into space on Monday morning and is already operational.
Apparently Israel took the decision to launch the satellite from India three years ago, and asked for Delhi's help because it lacks a vehicle capable of boosting the satellite into a polar orbit. One defence analyst said "The kind of low-earth polar orbit they are putting the satellite into, it is meant to give Israel the capability to keep an eye on the Iranian nuclear programme, this is bound to be seen in the Islamic world as a sinister tie-up between Israel and India.”
We may wonder at there being any link between Israel and India. But the Bible records that in ancient times there was a link. Solomon traded with a land called Tharshish.
The land was famed for ivory, peacocks and apes. Many consider that this land was India.
In later years Britain became known as Tarshish. In modern history Britain and India (and Israel) are closely linked together. India was a key country in the British Empire. India is one of the “young lions” of Tarshish in Ezekiel 38 that is NOT part of the Gogian force attacking Israel. Therefore we would expect India to be “onside” with Israel at the time of the end. Look at the World War 1 poster above.
It shows the old lion (Britain) calling on the “young lions”. India is named as one of them
Bible Quote Ezekiel 38 13 the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil?
Ahmadinejad's war of words with 'filthy' Israel
Headline Daily Telegraph January 31 2008
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran's president, has once more threatened Israel, declaring that the "filthy" Jewish state's days are numbered and that it will collapse.
In a speech given in the southern Iranian city of Bushehr, carried live on state-run television and directed at world leaders, Ahmadinejad advised listeners to "abandon the filthy Zionist entity which has reached the end of the line.“ "It has lost its reason to be and will sooner or later fall," he went on. "The ones who still support the criminal Zionists should know that the occupiers' days are numbered."
Ahmadinejad has made his hostility to the nation of Israel clear on several occasions, threatening it with annihilation repeatedly since becoming president of the Islamic republic in 2005 and denying that the Nazi holocaust ever took place.
Iran has most definitely been stirred up. The current Iranian president has said many times that Israel will be destroyed but this latest rant is possibly the worst. But is it all talk? Will Iran help to bring about a calamity in Israel.
The Bible says it will. Persia is mentioned in Ezekiel 38 as being one of the nations that invade Israel with Russia. In fact if Magog, Meshech and Tubal all refer to Russian territory, then the first nation listed outside Russia is Iran (Persia) in verse 5.
What we do know for certain is that Israel will not be utterly destroyed and wiped off the face of the earth. Yes, there is judgement coming on Israel. Yes, Iran will be involved in bringing this judgement upon Israel. Yes, Israel in its current godless state has lost its reason to be. The whole reason for Israel is to be a light to the gentiles. But God has not cast off his people. He will judge / correct them. But even though ALL nations come to an end – Israel WILL NEVER COME TO AN END.
Bible Quote Jeremiah 30 11 For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee:
though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.
Terror alert in Israel
Headline Debkafile February 1 2008
Highway 10 is the main route from northern Israel to Eilat in the south. Since Wednesday, the hotels, port facilities and IDFIDF bases in an around Eilat, at Israel’s southernmost point, have been on terror alert. Hundreds of armed Palestinian terrorists are believed at large in the vicinity of Sinai’s 220-km border with Israel, having headed south under cover of the mass Palestinian stampede out of Gaza, which Egyptian police failed to control. Some are reported heavily armed with anti-tank and anti-air weapons as well as explosives and bomb vests.
On the sixth day of the Palestinian surge out of Gaza into northern Sinai, Egyptian intelligence is discovering that, far from being chaotic, it was minutely planned by the fundamentalist Hamas group which rules the Gaza Strip. Egyptian security forces in Sinai have detained Palestinian-al Qaeda teams destined for Israel.
Hamas was caged in by Israel to the confines of the Gaza Strip. The people of Gaza were almost imprisoned there with no airport and the sea lanes actively patrolled by Israel. However Hamas has basically forced open the back door by breaking through their southern border with Egypt.
Many thousands of Gazans have poured out of Gaza into Sinai. However the concern for Israel is this. Israel has a 220 km border with Sinai. This border is fairly porous and militants could enter Israel through gaps along it.
When Israel existed before during the time of the Kings, there was a small strip of land called Philistia where the Philistines lived. The area of ancient Philistia is almost identical to the area of the modern Gaza Strip where the Palestinians live.
When Israel did evil God delivered them into the hand of the Philistines. See Judges 13:1.
Israel has rejected God again. The verse below may have a latter day fulfilment.
Bible Quote Isaiah 9 12 The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. Note verse 16 – Israel’s leaders are to blame!
1) Magnitude 4.0 earthquake shakes Israel
2) Magnitude 5 Earthquake Strikes Lebanon
Headlines Israel News / Associated Press February 12 &15 2008
1) A mild earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter Scale was felt across Israel Monday night, from Kiryat Shmona in the north to the Jerusalem area.
2) An earthquake shook parts of Lebanon and neighbouring countries Friday, causing minor damage and slightly injuring five people, police said.
The U.S. Geological Survey said it was a magnitude 5 quake, which can cause considerable damage. Residents of Syria, Jordan, the West Bank and Israel also reported feeling the tremor.
The earthquake was centred near the southern Lebanese port city of Tyre.
Two earthquakes have shaken Israel this week. Not huge but surely a warning to the nation and to us that the major earthquake long expected draws near.
There were two earthquakes that shook Israel in one week in October 2007.
There are those who study these events who believe a large earthquake in Israel could happen anytime.
Rami Hofstetter is head of the Geophysical Institute of Israel. "Saying Israel will be subject to a major earthquake is like saying the sun will rise tomorrow. A major quake in on the way," he said. "We just don't know where it's going to hit."
With Bible in hand we know for certain a massive earthquake will hit Israel soon. We also know it will be the prelude to the return of Jesus Christ to this earth. Christ’s return is as certain as sun rising on the earth tomorrow. In fact Malachi says so in the verse below!
Let us make sure that we fear the Lord God - for those who fear His name will be healed.
Bible Quote Malachi 4 2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of
righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
Islamic Movement blames Israel for quake-induced hole on Temple Mt. Headline Haaretz February 16 2008
The 5.3-magnitute earthquake that jolted Israel on Friday shook open a large hole on the Temple Mount plaza, near the Dome of the Rock.
Al-Aqsa mosque officials belonging to the Islamic Movement's Northern Branch covered the hole with wooden planks following afternoon prayers.
The officials, who also said the quake caused cracks in several local residential buildings, said the hole was a meter deep, two meters long and meter and a half wide.
The Islamic Movement blamed Israel for the hole, saying Israel is digging tunnels in the area that undermine the stability in the area of the Al-Aqsa mosque. The organization urged Islamic states to take action to stop Israeli excavations in the area.
It just shows how fragile the area of the Temple Mount is. Both physically and politically. The earthquake this week that was relatively minor in strength has opened up a large hole on the Temple Mount plaza.
It is interesting that the Arabs instantly blamed Israel for the collapse. Note as well the Islamic Organisation urged Islamic states to take action to stop Israeli excavations.
The Temple Mount site is the very site of the first and second Temple’s that the Jews built. King David wanted to build a “house for the Lord” but God said that his descendent would do so - not him. This descendent would build a house for God’s name and the throne of that descendent would last forever. Solomon, David’s son, built God the first Temple but his kingdom did not last forever. The greater son of David, Jesus Christ, will return and build God a house on the very site of the current Temple Mount. No earthquake will destroy it. It will last forever and ever.
Bible Quote 2 Samuel 7 12 will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
Syria vows to strike back at Israel for Imad
Mughniyeh’s killing in Damascus
Headline Debkafile February 15 2008
Thursday night, February 14, Syrian officials fanned out among Arab broadcasting stations with a warning: Damascus will attack Israel shortly following a decision by Syrian leaders to end its policy of restraint against its territorial violations.
Israeli land, sea, air and homeland defence units were earlier ordered to prepare to defend the country’s northern borders against attacks by Hezbollah, including rocket strikes, and Syria. Reinforcements were rushed to the north.
Last week an infamous terrorist leader of Hezbollah, Imad Mughniyah, was killed in a car bomb in Damascus the capital of Syria.
Mugniyah has been implicated in the 1983 bombings of the U.S. Embassy, and U.S. Marine and French peacekeeping barracks, which killed over 350, as well as the 1992 bombings of the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires and the kidnapping of dozens of foreigners in Lebanon in the 1980s.
Syria, Iran and Hezbollah have vowed revenge. On Thursday, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah blamed Israel for the blast and warned it was ready for "open war".
Syria has said it will soon present "irrefutable" proof of who was behind the killing.
Meanwhile Israel prepares for retribution as they know they will be blamed.
Note the verses below. Many different peoples that surround Israel consult together to destroy the nation. One of the peoples are those of Tyre. Tyre in Lebanon is the stronghold of Hezbollah! Tyre was also the epicentre of this weeks earthquake that shook Israel! We see events moving closer and closer to conflict with Israel.
Bible Quote Psalm 83 4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee: 7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre
Palestinians 'may declare state'
Headline BBConline February 20 2008
A senior Palestinian official has said the Palestinians ought to unilaterally declare a state if peace talks with Israel fail.
Yasser Abed Rabbo is a top aide to Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and a member of the team currently negotiating with Israeli officials. He said the Palestinians deserved independence more than Kosovo.
His comments come a day after talks between Mr Abbas and Israeli PM Ehud Olmert closed without visible progress.
The meeting is the latest in a series between Israeli and Palestinian negotiators and leaders, which was set in motion at a US-sponsored peace conference three months ago. The aim, declared by US President George W Bush, is to achieve a peace deal by the end of 2008.
On Sunday, Serbia's breakaway province of Kosovo declared independence, in a move that has been welcomed by the US and some leading European states.
Within days the Palestinians said if Kosovo can why can’t we! “Kosovo is not better than us. We deserve independence even before Kosovo, and we ask for the backing of the United States and the European Union for our independence", a top Palestinian leader said. The ramifications of Kosovo’s declared independence may be far reaching as the next WWW slide shows.
In the parable of the fig tree Jesus says “Behold the fig tree and ALL the trees”. The fig tree is symbolic of Israel. We could only “behold” Israel as a nation in its whole land and whole capital in 1967. The fig tree / Israel was a newly created nation.
But Jesus says look at ALL the trees. In other words look for other newly created nations.
There has never been so many new nations created than in the last 50 years. The graph on this slide shows the huge increase in new independent nations (symbolic trees).

Heavy storm exposes Russian Syria-based spy ship off Israel shore Headline Debkafile February 22 2008
DEBKAfile’s military sources reveal that the Russian Amur 1 Class PM 138 naval boat, caught up in the heavy storm raging across the Middle East and Mediterranean last week, flashed a distress signal Tuesday Feb. 19. The vessel was on its way from a Syrian port to Sevastopol on the Black Sea when it was thrown off course by the high seas. A Greek Navy frigate responded to the call and escorted the PM 138 to the island of Chios.
The Russian Navy spokesmen said the ship’s crew numbered 99. It was unarmed and was heading for home port after a long stay at one of the Syrian Mediterranean bases.
Russian naval vessels are spending long periods running into months at the Syrian military bases of Latakia and Tartous. Russia has recently has sent warships into the Eastern Med for the first time in decades.
Israel officials prefer to ignore this mounting Russian naval presence to the north so as not to mar relations with the Russian president Vladimir Putin.
So why has Russia got a spy ship off the shores of Israel? What are its intentions?
Without the Bible we would have no idea. With Bible in hand we see the evidence for what God says will happen. He clearly states that the king of the north (Russia) will come with many ships. Daniel 11:40! As we see Russian ships massing in the Med and spy ships leaving Syrian ports we see God’s plan working to a conclusion.
The Jews who have returned in unbelief on the whole do not consider God’s word and so instead decide to ignore the peril off their shores in case they upset Putin! How different their decision would be if they believed in God’s Word!
With a clear vision of what WILL happen helps us make the right decisions now in our personal lives. Where there is no vision – the people perish.
Bible Quote Proverbs 29 18 ¶ Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Israel to vanish, says Hezbollah
Headlines BBConline February 22 2008
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has told thousands of supporters at a rally in Lebanon that the disappearance of Israel is inevitable.
"The presence of Israel is but temporary and cannot go on in the region ," he told the Beirut rally.
Speaking by video link, he again hinted at revenge for the killing of a senior Hezbollah commander in Syria.
Hezbollah accuses Israel of being behind the death of Imad Mughniyeh, although Israel denies involvement.
As well as the Hezbollah leader speaking of Israel “vanishing” we have also heard again from Iran’s leader this week as well. Addressing a large rally that was televised on state TV, he said “World powers have created a black and dirty microbe named the Zionist regime and unleashed it like a savage animal on the nations of the region.”
These increasingly belligerent statements are seen as betokening serious intent by Israel’s politicians and military leaders. . Israel's chief of staff Lt. Gen. Gaby Ashkenazi told graduating officers Wednesday, February 20, that he could not rule out a possible "tough ordeal" in the near future.
Patriot air defence missiles have been deployed near the city of Haifa, which was bombarded with rockets during the war between Hezbollah and Israel in 2006. Israel is "prepared on all fronts", said Defence Minister Ehud Barak.
War appears close. Israel is surrounded on all sides. Russia has been turned back and ready to overflow. Israel is living “safely” or confidently. Tourism is booming. The streets and restaurants are packed. The exterior wall is working. The situation just prior to the final conflict in Ezekiel 38 is before our very eyes.

Part of Jerusalem Officially Labelled PA Territory
Headline Israelnationalnews February 27 2008
Israeli authorities have placed several signs near the Atarot area in northern Jerusalem recently warning travellers, “You are entering territory under the control of the Palestinian Authority. Israelis are absolutely forbidden to enter!” Approximately 25,000 residents of Jerusalem, some of them Israeli citizens, live in the areas now designated as PA territory.
Jerusalem Forum chairman Aryeh King said Wednesday that approximately 1,200 dunams of property owned by Jews were located beyond the signs. The government violated laws regarding Jerusalem by putting up the signs, King said. The signs prove the government is acting to make its policy of splitting Jerusalem a reality, he said.
It appears from this headline in Israel National News.com that the division of Jerusalem is becoming a reality.
There are areas of Jerusalem designated as Palestinian territory but never have they been signed in such a way. Never has there been official warning for Israelis not to enter.
Behind the scenes the discussions continue about Jerusalem. We have noted before how the current political leadership has conceded that Jerusalem will have to be divided to give the Palestinians their own capital of their own state.
It is another sign to us that Israel lives in the land in unbelief. There care nothing for God and his plan. They want purely to survive and believe this is the best way of doing it.
However, as we know, the only way to ultimately survive is to put your trust in God.
If only they understood “if God be for us, who can be against us.” Romans 8:31.
Jerusalem continues to be a burdensome stone. Israel has also burdened themselves with it. They will suffer great destruction because they have done so.
Bible Quote Zechariah 12 3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces,

Israeli minister vows Palestinian 'holocaust‘
Headlines Daily Telegraph February 29 2008
A senior Israeli politician provoked controversy today when he warned that Palestinians firing rockets from Gaza would be punished with a "bigger holocaust" from Israeli armed forces.
The use of the Hebrew word for holocaust, "shoah", tends to be used exclusively in Israel to describe the Nazi persecution of Jews.
Palestinian activists routinely claim to be suffering a "shoah" at the hands of Israel, but the Jewish state normally denies any moral equivalence between the suffering of Palestinians today and European jewry under the Nazis.
Matan Vilnai, deputy defence minister, broke that taboo when he used the term "shoah" during interview on Army Radio.
"The more qassam fire intensifies and the rockets reach a longer range, they (the Palestinians) will bring upon themselves a bigger shoah because we will use all our might to defend ourselves," he said.
More than 60 Palestinians and one Israeli have been killed in the violence since Wednesday. It is a desperate situation for Israel. They do not want to invade Gaza and yet they are subjected to hundreds of rockets being fired into Israel each week. The rockets are fired in the general direction of Israeli towns and only occasionally hit. When they do though they cause damage, fear and (this week) death.
It is interesting that the article above mentions “controversy” in relation to the “holocaust”. In Isaiah 34 quoted below God speaks of the “controversy of Zion”.
Zion is another name for Jerusalem. The controversy over Jerusalem WILL cause another holocaust. Holocaust means “completely burnt”. Amazingly the verse below links both themes. “Controversy” and complete “burning” of the land.
Bible Quote Isaiah 34 8..the controversy of Zion. 9 ¶ And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, ……. and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.

Eight killed at Jerusalem school
Headline BBConline March 7 2008
Eight people have been killed and nine wounded by a Palestinian gunman who infiltrated a Jewish seminary in West Jerusalem, Israeli officials say.
Witnesses said the gunman went into the library at the Mercaz Harav seminary in the city's Kiryat Moshe quarter and opened fire.
The assailant, who Israeli police said was a resident of East Jerusalem, was shot dead by an Israeli army officer.
The attack is the worst of its kind in Israel for a number of years.
The gunman entered the library at the Mercaz Harav seminary on Thursday evening, where about 80 students were gathered, and fired an AK-47 rifle for several minutes, witnesses say.
Israel saw an horrific attack on a Bible school in Jerusalem this week.
The most concerning thing from Israel’s point of view is that this attack came “from within”. The Palestinian gunman came from East Jerusalem. He was an Israeli citizen and worked as a driver in Jerusalem. It was just a short walk from where he lived to the seminary.
Israel believes that the so called Security Fence (or wall) will protect them. However the fence cannot protect them if those who want to destroy them live inside.
In Ezekiel 13 we read of false Israeli leaders who have seduced the people by promising them peace by building a wall.(v10) However, says God, there is NO peace.
Is this not exactly the situation in Israel now? In the verse below it says that these leaders have not made a “hedge” for Israel that will stand in the “day of the LORD. What is interesting is that the word “hedge” can also be translated “fence”.
Exactly what Israel calls the wall snaking through its land. It will NOT protect them…
Bible Quote Ezekiel 13 5 Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.
Attack will be seen in Messianic terms
Headlines Jerusalem Post March 7 2008
While defence establishment officials sitting in the military headquarters in Tel-Aviv ponder the diplomatic-security implications of last night's attack, a totally different analysis will be taking place this weekend around Shabbat dinner tables across Jerusalem and most West Bank settlements.
The people directly affected by the deadly terrorist attack on the Mercaz Harav Yeshiva are not just the students, their relatives and friends, but the much wider larger segment of the religious Zionist public. This attack was aimed specifically for the religious Zionist and settler population, and the terrorists knew that by speaking in this language, to these people, their message could only be interpreted in one way.
This will be seen in terms of Ishmael and Isaac.
This terrorist attack struck at the core of religious Zionism. The school was founded in 1924 and is headed by Rabbi’s. Students spend their time studying the Torah. This particular school is regarded a flagship of national religious Yeshivas (Torah study)
Being messianic Jews, these religious Zionists are going to see this attack through the prism of messianic prophecy. Already on religious Zionist radio stations people are talking about the attack in prophetic terms, such as Isaiah 59 verse 20: “And a redeemer will come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord.” There is talk of a religious war over the Holy Land.
Of course these religious Jews are not looking for Jesus. They are still looking for the first coming of the Messiah. They quote Isaiah 59:20 in this context. However we know from the previous verse (v19) that an enemy will come on Israel like a flood.
And at that time when Israel is brought to its knees they will see their Redeemer.
It WILL be Jesus Christ - physically here again on earth.
Bible Quote Isaiah 59 19 When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. 20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion
Quake could kill 'whole generation' of children
Headline Haaretz March 11 2008
A major earthquake may destabilize the foundations of Jerusalem-area schools and kill thousands of pupils, a Jerusalem municipal official warned yesterday.
"If a quake hits between 8 A.M. and 1 P.M., a whole generation will be lost," Avraham Ben Nun told a special Knesset committee investigating earthquake preparedness.
Located on the Afro-Syrian rift, Israel is hit by a major quake once a century on average. Last month, a 5.3-magnitude tremor was felt in most parts of the country, raising fears about the possibility of an imminent destructive earthquake.
Ministry of Education officials told the committee last month that a large-scale earthquake endangered over half of Israel's pupils, who study at schools built before 1980, the year earthquake building standards were introduced.
Tiberias Mayor Zohar Oved told the committee that a hotel in his city was situated directly over a fault line. Oved said that Efraim Laor, the head of an inter-ministerial committee in charge of earthquake preparedness, rejected his request to close the hotel. "The hotel is worth NIS 50 million," Laor was quoted as saying by Oved. "The entire city is located at the meeting point of tectonic plates, perhaps the entire city should be evacuated." Oved rebuked the government for its alleged lack of preparedness. "We're on borrowed time. It could happen any second. My sense is that there's a lot of theoretical talk going on. We need to raise a cry."
There is increasing speculation in Israel that a major earthquake is about to happen. It may be because of the growing number of minor earthquakes in recent months that have shaken Israel. The article above is interesting as it speaks of a “whole generation” being killed. It speaks of “borrowed time” and the need “to raise a cry”
An earthquake IS coming soon, two thirds in Israel will be killed, we need to raise a cry!
Bible Quote Ezekiel 3 17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

Israel has recently warned Hizbullah that it will not hesitate to retaliate with war for a large scale attack on its citizens, Channel 10 – Nana news reported Wednesday. The Hizbullah attack is expected in revenge for the killing of its operations officer Imad Mughniyeh. Iranian TV vowed that Israel would face its "third destruction" on the 40th day after Mughniyeh's death, which will occur next Saturday, March 22.
Israeli intelligence is picking up extensive "chatter" between Hizbullah and Iran but still has not located specific intentions to carry out a terror attack. Israeli military attachés worldwide have been instructed to change their routine movements and retired military persons were warned to exercise caution in their travels.
We reported in the WWW 4 weeks ago that a senior member of Hezbollah had been assassinated in Damascus. Israel was blamed. Hezbollah has threatened retaliation following the official 40 days of mourning. These 40 days end next Saturday. Yesterday , Reuters reported that Israel has secretly warned Syria that it may strike the country if Hezbollah attacks the Jewish state.
The Lebanon war in 2006 saw Hezbollah claiming victory over Israel. Israel learnt that it is very hard to defeat a guerrilla army. Next time Hezbollah attacks, Israel will not only attack Hezbollah but will attack Syria as well. Syria are after all Hezbollah’s helper and armourer. This is why in the Israeli press this week there is talk of war with Syria. This is why Reuters are reporting the secret warning to Syria from Israel. This is why the US navy has built up its deployment opposite the Lebanese coast. This is why Syria has placed its air and naval bases on a state of preparedness. This is why we should watch and pray. We too need to prepare. We too need to increase our spiritual defences. Our battle though is nearly over.
Bible Quote Luke 21 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted
worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Sarkozy: Israel must stop 'colonization‘
Headline Jerusalem Post March 11 2008
Israel's security depends upon a halt to "colonization" in the West Bank, the French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Monday, as he welcomed his counterpart President Shimon Peres for a five-day state visit.
Sarkozy said France would "always be at [Israel's] side" and insisted the best way for Israel to battle terrorism was to help restart the stalled Mideast peace process.
French-Israeli ties have warmed considerably under Sarkozy after the 12-year tenure of his predecessor, Jacques Chirac, whom many saw as more pro-Arab.
But Sarkozy's France has reacted coolly to Israel's recent announcements that it was stepping up housing and apartment construction in the West Bank and in east Jerusalem.
Last Sunday the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert approved a plan to build up to 750 new homes in a Jewish settlement in the West Bank. The new building was announced three days after a Palestinian gunman killed eight students at a Jewish seminary in Jerusalem that was associated with the settler movement.
The international condemnation of Israel was soon in coming. The French president told Israel to stop “colonisation”. The nations believe that if Israel would just get out of the West Bank and eastern Jerusalem all would be resolved – all would be well.
The Lord God says clearly in the verse below that he will gather ALL nations to Israel to a final great battle. These nations that are gathered are the ones who have scattered his people among the nations and have “PARTED MY LAND”. The word “parted” is normally translated “divided”. Is this not precisely what the nations of the world are doing. Trying to divide God’s land. He will judge them for this…
Bible Quote Joel 3 2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

Russia set on Mideast parley
Headline Jerusalem Post March 26 2008
Russia is determined to go ahead with an international Middle East conference in Moscow in June whether Israel likes it or not, government sources told The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday, summing up Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's visit here last week.
According to the sources, Russia's determination to go ahead with the conference - despite a decidedly cool, though officially noncommittal, reception to the idea from both Israel and the US - stemmed from Moscow's assessment that it desperately needed to increase its involvement in the Middle East and "make its mark" in the region.
Russia is determined to get involved in the current “peace” negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. The Russian foreign minister’s visit to Israel last week was to ensure that Israel understood that Russia is determined to press ahead with a peace conference in Moscow later this year. Those present at the meetings characterized Lavrov's one-day visit last Thursday as "nasty," saying the Russian minister was agitated throughout his meetings with Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and President Shimon Peres.
And so we have a “nasty” Russian visit to Israel. We have Russia wanting to “make its mark” in the region. At the meeting it was also agreed that Russia would supply the Palestinians with armoured vehicles with no guns.
All of this shows us that the time when Russia WILL invade Israel from the north is near. God will cause Russia to come up upon the mountains of Israel as it says in Ezekiel.
Bible Quote Ezekiel 39 1 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: 2 And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
Israel to hold massive emergency drill
Headline Jerusalem Post March 17 2008
In the face of a possible escalation with Syria and Iran's efforts to obtain a nuclear weapon, parts of the country will shut down next month in what security officials say will be the largest emergency exercise in Israel's history.
The drill, which is being organized by the newly-established National Emergency Authority, will take place over five days starting on Sunday, April 6.
To prove that the previous slide is not just talk and war IS in the air it is not coincidence that next weekend Israel will conduct the largest emergency exercise in its history!
April 6th 2008 is actually the first day of Nisan in the Jewish calendar. The first day of Nisan is the beginning of the Jewish Sacred year. The Civil year begins in September but God’s year begins in April. God changed the beginning of the year to April at the time of the Exodus. So next Sunday is the first day of their New Year. On this first day the whole nation will shut down to enact an emergency. We know an emergency is coming. Two thirds living in the land of Israel will be killed.
It was on the first day of the first month back in Exodus that the Tabernacle was setup and the work of the priesthood began. If Israel even now turned to the LORD and recognised the true priesthood they would be saved the destruction that is coming.
We know however that the nation will only recognise the true priest, the Lord Jesus, when he returns as King and they will look on him whom they have pierced and mourn. See Zechariah 12:10.
Let us pray that in the emergency that is fast approaching all those who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Ye men of Israel hear these words...Acts 2 v 20-22.
Bible Quote Exodus 40 1 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 On the first day of the first month shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.
Exodus 12 2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. The month referred to here is the month Nisan (our April)

1st Temple remains uncovered in dig near Temple Mount
Headline Jerusalem Post March 16 2008
The remains of a building from the First Temple period have been uncovered in an archaeological excavation just west of Jerusalem's Temple Mount, the Israel Antiquities Authority said on Sunday.
The discovery marks the first time in the history of Jerusalem archaeological research that building remains from the First Temple period have been exposed so close to the Temple Mount, the state-run archaeological body said.
No archaeological excavations have ever been carried out on the Temple Mount itself due to religious sensitivities.
There have been an increasing number of significant archaeological finds in Jerusalem in recent years. These finds have substantiated the Bible account every time. It is almost as if God is reminding the Jewish people of their history, their heritage and where they have come from.
Last year King Herod’s tomb was found. Relics from Solomon’s temple were discovered for the first time. A tunnel used in AD70 when the Jews tried to escape the Roman armies was uncovered. And now for the first time a building close to the first Temple and from that period is unearthed.
The first temple was built around 1000 BC and was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586BC. A second temple was built in 516BC and this was destroyed in AD70.
There have been two destructions of Jerusalem. 586BC and AD70. There will be a third.
The verse below says there will be 3 overturnings of Jerusalem. Following the third (still to come) the kingship, the crown and sceptre, will be given to he “whose right it is”.
The king to come whose right it is , is of course the Lord Jesus Christ. The final overturning, the final and third destruction, will herald his return – as KING.
Bible Quote Ezekiel 21 27 I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.

Israel stages major terror drill
Headline BBConline April 8 2008
At 10am on Tuesday sirens wailed throughout Israel. Israelis had been given ample warning: "Don't panic, routine drill only."
Everyone was urged to take part and to run as fast as possible to their nearest bomb shelter. I was walking along a busy Jerusalem street when the sirens sounded.
But the general reaction was muted at best. I didn't see anyone running anywhere.
Dubbed "Turning Point 2", this year's exercise includes simulated missile attacks - chemical and biological - on towns.
Rescue services are to simulate mass evacuation from populated areas. Hospitals will practise treating thousands of casualties.
The Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Olmert, never tires of saying that, since 2006, Israel’s armed forces have restored their deterrent strength and the nation has never been more secure. Israel is confident it can overcome any attack.
It is this over confidence that perhaps led to the muted response that the BBC reporter witnessed in Israel this week to the emergency drill.
However this drill (the largest in Israel’s history) has shown many weaknesses. The sirens warning of attack were not heard in many parts of Israel, including the Knesset (the main government building!) Most people did not know where to find public shelters – none were marked.
This drill was called “turning point 2”. A “turning point” is when the tide of war flows in a different direction. Israel believes that it is turning in their favour and they will defeat their enemies. God, however, says that Israel is rebellious. They do not trust in him but in the strength of worldly weapons. Israel will soon realise their folly.
Bible Quote Isaiah 30 1 ¶ Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me.. 2….to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! Israel trusts in worldly things not Godly ones.
Negotiating Away Jerusalem
Headline The Trumpet April 16 2008
The Olmert administration has made a secret pact with the Palestinians, promising to hand over Atarot Airport (Jerusalem airport) in northern Jerusalem.
Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni has agreed, on behalf of Israel, to surrender Atarot Airport to Palestinian control according to a report recently published by local Jerusalem newspaper Kol HaZman.
This concession was made during a series of secret talks the Israeli government is conducting with Palestinian Authority negotiators. Staffers in Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s office and Livni’s press secretary have confirmed that the foreign minister has indeed been conducting negotiations with the Palestinians, but refused to comment further on the issue.
Atarot Airport, which is located in northern Jerusalem, was a domestic airport up until it was transferred to Israel Defence Forces control in 2001—after Palestinian terrorists fired shots at the control tower. Since the transfer, Atarot has been used as a springboard to combat Palestinian terrorism. The transfer of this airport to Palestinian Authority control would surrender one of Israel’s strategic assets.
Jerusalem municipality officials are saying that this concession would represent a de facto recognition of the division of Jerusalem.
Opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu said Tuesday that dividing Jerusalem would be a "moral and historical mistake.“ He added that "the result of the division of Jerusalem and the subsequent entry of Hamas into the city would be the formation of an Iranian enclave in the city and blowing up the conflict to dimensions we haven't seen until today.“ We see Jerusalem becoming a burdensome stone. The talk of dividing is the same as burdening. Those who do will be cut in pieces.
Bible Quote Zechariah 12 3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces
War with Israel is possible and we are getting ready – Assad Headline Debkafile April 17 2008
The Syrian ruler Bashar Assad made this statement in a speech in Damascus reported Thursday, April 17.
Earlier this week, DEBKAfile’s military sources reported that Damascus has deployed the 10th armoured corps at the Massaneh crossing of Mount Hermon. It links up with the northwestern positions the 14th division took up last month on the Syrian-Israeli border which cuts through the Hermon range.
Syrian troops are now strung along a continuous crescent-shaped line from the central Lebanese mountains through Mt Dov on the western slopes of Mt. Hermon and up to southeastern Lebanon. This deployment, commanding Syria’s Israeli and Lebanese borders, is under the command of the president’s brother, Maher Assad.
Syria sees war with Israel as a real possibility, and is preparing for such an event, Syrian President Bashar Assad said Wednesday to Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar.
Speaking to a group of Arab intellectuals, the Syrian president added that whilst war was not a preferable option, "if Israel declares war on Lebanon and Syria or if America declares war on Iran," Damascus will be prepared.
For the last 4 weeks we have been highlighting the growing talk of war between Israel and Syria. The troop movements by Syria have shown that at the least Syria is either preparing for war or preparing to defend against an attack by Israel.
In Isaiah 17 it speaks of the destruction of Damascus. This has not yet been fulfilled. Damascus is still a city. At the time of the destruction of the city verse 3 says that “the fortress will cease from Ephraim [Israel]”, and in verse 4 “in that day…the glory of Jacob [Israel] will be made thin”. So we might expect at the time Damascus is destroyed that Israel is seriously weakened / made thin…
Bible Quote Isaiah 17 1 ¶ The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

Gaza unrest leaves 22 dead
Headline BBConline April 16 2008
At least 22 people, including five Palestinian children, have died in Gaza's worst day of fighting since Israeli incursions in early March.
A Hamas ambush in northern Gaza killed three Israeli troops, Israel's highest daily loss in the area for 3 years.
That sparked Israeli air strikes near Bureij refugee camp, which Israel said targeted gunmen, but which left five children among 11 people killed.
A cameraman also died when his car was apparently fired on by an Israeli tank.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said he was gravely concerned by the escalation of fighting and urged both sides to show restraint.
At least 100 people were killed during operations launched by Israel in early March after Palestinian rocket attacks on its territory.
As war draws nearer with Syria, Israel also is drawn into an increasing conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip. 3 soldiers were killed this week and a dozen seriously injured. Israel does not tolerate this and responds with airstrikes that kill many Palestinians. This in turn provides more reasons for Hamas to strike and so the violence goes on. A recent Israeli study by a research group with close ties to Israel's defence establishment said Hamas was currently engaged in the broadest and most significant military build-up in its history.
The Palestinians have a lot of similarities to the ancient enemy of Israel – the Philistines.
They live in the same area. Their name "Palestinian" is derived from the Latin word for Philistine. In ancient times God used the Philistines to punish Israel when Israel was wicked. The verse below says exactly this. Israel are doing evil once again in God’s sight. They are rejecting Him, His land and His city, Jerusalem.
Bible Quote Judges 13 1 ¶ And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.

Bush and Abbas in push for peace
Headline BBConline April 24 2008
US President George W Bush has met Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas as he tries to boost efforts for peace in the Middle East.
Mr Abbas is seeking renewed US support in faltering peace talks and more international pressure on Israel.
After meeting Mr Abbas, Mr Bush said he remained confident about achieving the "definition" of a Palestinian state by the end of the year.
The Palestinian leader said the road to peace was "paved with obstacles".
Mr Bush wants to achieve a peace settlement before he leaves office in January, a goal that was set a conference in Annapolis five months ago.
There was some talk this week of Hamas agreeing a truce with Israel. However Hamas’s political leader Khaled Meshaal speaking in Syria, where he lives in exile, said the Palestinian state must have "Jerusalem as its capital, with genuine sovereignty, without settlements".
Mr Abbas who met President Putin last week met President Bush this week. Mr Bush said he was committed to "a viable state, a state that doesn't look like Swiss cheese, a state that provides hope".
The reference to Swiss cheese is the fact that on the West Bank there are many settlements that Israel wants to keep. If they do keep them then they would be pockets of Jewish land in amongst the new Palestinian state. Hence a map would look like Swiss cheese. In effect President Bush is saying that Israel must withdraw from the whole of the West Bank not some of it. In Joel 3 we read of the nations who have “parted” God’s land. The word parted means “apportioned” or “divided”.
Bible Quote Joel 3 2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.
'Hamas planning huge holiday attack’
Headline Jerusalem Post April 30 2008
Hamas will do everything it can to spoil Israel's 60th birthday bash next week with a high-profile terror attack, OC Military Intelligence Maj.-Gen. Amos Yadlin told the cabinet on Tuesday.
Yadlin said intelligence information indicated that Hamas would try to carry out a large-scale operation, similar to the one it failed to pull off on the eve of Pessah at southern Gaza's Kerem Shalom crossing two weeks ago.
During that attack - which included heavy gunfire, mortar shell barrages and two car bombs - 13 IDF soldiers were wounded, and four terrorists were killed.
We fast approach a very significant anniversary. The 60th birthday of the founding of the State of Israel in 1948.
At midnight on May 14, 1948, the Provisional Government of Israel proclaimed the new State of Israel. In Israel however they do not follow the Gregorian calendar. To them the “date of birth” of the State of Israel is in fact 5th Iyyar. This is Israel’s Independence Day. That was the date on THEIR calendar that Israel was recreated. This year the 5th Iyyar falls on Saturday 10th May. From that date and for several weeks after many celebrations are to occur in Israel and around the world. These celebrations are tempered with the fear of terrorism. Israeli military intelligence (as quoted above) is warning of high profile attacks on Israel during this time.
We can be certain that these celebrations of Israel’s existence will madden Israel’s enemies. Over recent years there have been calls for Israel to be “wiped off the map” by Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah. The verse below in Psalm 83 speaks of Israel’s enemies wanting to destroy the nation so that it is no longer remembered.
They may use the forthcoming celebrations as an excuse to do just that.
Bible Quote Psalm 83 4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
Israel will not accept a nuclear-armed Iran
Headline Debkafile May 1 2008
The Israeli transport minister Shaul Mofaz, speaking at Yale University Tuesday night, April 30, on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day, warned Iran may attain command of enrichment technology before the end of this year. He said: “Israel will not tolerate a nuclear-armed Iran. This time, the Jewish people won’t let it happen. I would like to believe the world will not let it happen. To prevent this, all means are legitimate.”
Israel’s annual Holocaust remembrance ceremonies focused this year on the theme of courage displayed by Warsaw Ghetto Uprising leaders 65 years ago, knowing they were doomed. Israeli’s president and prime minister laid wreaths in their honour at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Institute in Jerusalem.
The rhetoric against Iran has really picked up in recent weeks. Both Israel and America have put Iran back in their sights. There was a report in the US last year that suggested Iran was not trying to build a nuclear weapon. It appears now though that neither the Israeli nor the American governments actually believe this. Note that the Israeli minister talks of “all means” being legitimate in stopping Iran acquiring nuclear weapons. He says Israel will not let it happen.
America said it had despatched a second aircraft carrier group to the Gulf on Wednesday, as the State Department branded Iran the world's "most active" state sponsor of terrorism. Robert Gates, the defence secretary, said the deployment of two aircraft carrier battle groups in the Gulf was a "reminder" to Tehran of US determination to defend its interests in the region.
A showdown with Iran may be approaching. God has stirred up the spirit of the Medes (Iranians) at this time in preparation for the final war over Israel.
Bible Quote Isaiah 13 17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.

Police investigators in Israel have been questioning the Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, under caution.
The police have refused to disclose the reasons for the questioning, but Mr Olmert is already the subject of investigations into alleged corruption.
Mr Olmert's office said he would co-operate fully with investigators and was sure the allegations against him would be found to be false.
The prime minister has strongly denied any wrongdoing.
Israel is facing a corruption epidemic one report said recently. Here we have the Prime Minister questioned under caution by police.
Is it any surprise that at the time of the end, shortly before Israel is subdued by the nations that we see corruption in the highest places in Israel.
Let us not forget that God himself brings the nations against Israel. Why? Read the verse below and it explains!
When God wanted his people to return to the land of Israel, He raised up a Persian king called Cyrus to do this. Cyrus helped the Jews to return and rebuild their temple in Jerusalem. See 2 Chronicles 36:22. It was God who stirred up the spirit of Cyrus to do this! Now we see God wanting his people to recognise their guilt. So this time he raises up another Persian king. This time he has stirred up the Iranian leader not to help the Jews but to want to destroy them. Also it is God himself who puts hooks in the jaws of Russia to pull them down to Israel.
God knows that it will take this to make Israel realise the folly of their ways. Finally when Christ returns to save the remnant left they will look on him and finally accept him.
Bible Quote Isaiah 1 4 Ah, sinful nation, a people loaded with guilt, a brood of evildoers, children given to corruption! They have forsaken the LORD; they have spurned the Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on him. (NIV)

Israel at 60: Internal promise, external threats
Headline BICOM May 5 2008
Israel at 60 is a society poised between ongoing internal economic and social achievement, and the persistence of external threat. Public opinion research in Israel shows a striking reflection of this reality in the opinions of Israelis. There is a very clear distinction between a sense of optimism regarding how Israelis view their own lives, and a much gloomier sense regarding the general situation faced by Israel.
There is a clear contradiction between an underlying optimism and confidence expressed by Israelis regarding their own and their country's situation, and a very real sense of looming threat. 38% of Israeli adults believe Israel to be under ‘serious threat of destruction.' And yet 84% of Israeli adults were convinced that Israel will continue to exist despite the problems and crises.
Today is Saturday 10th May. On the Jewish calendar it is the 5th Iyar. The 5th Iyar was the actual date of the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. On our calendar back then it was the 14th May.
Over the last 60 years Israel has prospered economically and has become militarily confident. It has had the support of the world’s only super power both financially and militarily as well.
But as the report above says the confidence is tapered with gloom. They live under the constant threat of destruction. It is difficult to imagine confidence and at the same time see a looming threat. But that is the present dichotomy.
God said repeatedly that he would re-establish Israel in their land. See Ezekiel 11:17, 36:11, 34:13 etc. He says they would live “over confidently” and in unbelief. See verse below. To read a full article on the current situation please

Olmert and Abbas 'make progress‘
Headline BBConline May 5 2008
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli PM Ehud Olmert have met in Jerusalem for a new round of talks - their third meeting in a month.
Officials said there was progress on the issues of the borders of a future Palestinian state and security arrangements in the West Bank.
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has just ended a visit to the region.
Ms Rice said she still hoped for a peace deal before President George W Bush leaves office in January.
Mr Bush is visiting Israel later this month to take part in ceremonies marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Israeli state.
According to reports the differences are narrowing between the Palestinians and the Israelis. "We have made significant progress on the two issues of outlining the borders of the future Palestinian state and the security arrangements between Israel and the Palestinian state," a senior Israeli official said.
The whole world is pushing Israel to a 2 state solution. Dividing the land, the capital city and the people. Without a Bible in hand we might well say this idea makes sense. Surely 2 states living side by side in the same land would bring peace. But we know with Bible in hand that it will NOT bring peace. It will bring destruction. Why?
Because it is GOD’S LAND. Israel is there because God has placed them there. It is not for them to divide it. In the verse below God says he will gather all nations to Israel because they have “parted my land”. The word “parted” means “divided”.
He says in verse 4 “What have you to do with me Tyre and coasts of Palestine” These are the current strongholds of Hamas and Hezbollah who want to destroy Israel!
Bible Quote Joel 3 2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

Israel: Lebanon turmoil may spread
Headline Daily Telegraph May 10 2008
Israel has claimed that Iran was behind the terror group Hizbollah's armed struggle with the Lebanese government and warned that the conflict could spill into a wider Middle East crisis.
Hizbollah fighters spread virtually unopposed across west Beirut districts loyal to the pro-Western government.
After a night of firefights, the mainly Sunni Muslim residents of the capital's west woke to find Shia Hizbollah fighters patrolling the streets.
The main compounds of country's two senior political leaders were besieged in a dramatic demonstration of the shift in power.
Four days of street battles in Lebanon's capital this week have left at least 24 dead. Lebanon's cabinet has said the seizure of most of western Beirut by the Shia group Hezbollah was "a bloody coup".
Shimon Peres, the Israeli president, pointed to Hezbollah's links with Iran's Islamic regime. He said: "It is a new chapter of the battle led by Iran to control all of the Middle East."
Lebanon has been on the fringes, and at times at the heart, of the Middle East conflict surrounding the creation of Israel. Syria and Iran control the terrorist group Hezbollah in Lebanon. In 2006 they fought Israel to a standstill .
It appears from the Bible that Lebanon is “hewn down” at the time of the end. See verse below. In Isaiah 2:12-17 God speaks of the judgement of the world. Lebanon is specifically mentioned in this context. The ancient capital of this land was Tyre. It is a city today controlled by Hezbollah. We have already quoted this city in Joel 3:4 where God says to Tyre “What have you to do with me”. Let us watch this land.
Bible Quote Isaiah 33 9 The earth mourneth and languisheth: Lebanon is ashamed and hewn down: Sharon is like a wilderness; and Bashan and Carmel shake off their fruits.

Bush praises close US-Israel ties
Headline BBConline May 14 2008
President George W Bush has underlined the close ties between the US and Israel during a visit coinciding with the country's 60th anniversary.
Speaking in Jerusalem, he praised Israel as a model for democracy.
Mr Bush has also said he believes Israel and the Palestinians can strike a peace deal by the end of the year.
Before he spoke, several people were injured when a rocket fired from Gaza hit the city of Ashkelon. They include a mother and daughter.
Earlier in the day, four people were killed in Israeli military operations in Gaza.
Correspondents describe President Bush's eyes welling with emotion as he received a standing ovation. He went on to say “We gather to mark a momentous occasion. Sixty years ago in Tel Aviv, David Ben-Gurion proclaimed Israel's independence, founded on the "natural right of the Jewish people to be masters of their own fate." What followed was more than the establishment of a new country. It was the redemption of an ancient promise given to Abraham and Moses and David -- a homeland for the chosen people Eretz Yisrael.”
President Bush was right on this point. The establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 WAS the redemption of an ancient promise given by God himself. The promise was that He would regather Israel to the land. See the verse below. Could it be clearer??
Where President Bush is wrong is that he does not truly believe what God says. He believes that the road to peace is for there to be TWO states in the land of Israel. Palestinian and Israeli. This godless idea will bring all nations to war against Israel. Even as he spoke a missile struck a shopping centre and wounded 100 Jews.
Bible Quote Ezekiel 11 17 Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.
Abbas pledge on 'catastrophe' day
Headline BBConline May 15 2008
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas says he is determined to end Israel's occupation of Palestinian land, labelling it "mankind's shame".
Mr Abbas also said his hands were extended in peace, as Palestinians mark the "catastrophe" of Israel's creation.
More than 700,000 Palestinians were displaced in the war that followed Israel's establishment in 1948.
US President George W Bush, who is visiting the country, told MPs that Washington was Israel's closest ally.
As Palestinians recalled the "Nakba" (catastrophe) 60 years ago, Mr Abbas said in a televised speech: "It is time for this occupation to leave our land and blood.”
It is amazing that no other people, no other power, has ever created an independent state in the land of Israel – apart from the Jews.
When it was not a Jewish state, the land of Israel was merely an administrative unit of empires: Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Ottomans etc.
It is also amazing that in recent history the Egyptians who ruled Gaza between 1949 and 1967 could have created a Palestinian state but did not. The Jordanians, who ruled the “West Bank” during the same years, could have created a Palestinian state, but did not. Instead the Egyptians and the Jordanian persecuted the Palestinians!
The only country that has ever offered the Palestinians a state – is Israel!
There are many similarities between modern Palestinians and ancient Philistines. They live in the same place. “Palestinian” comes from the Latin word for Philistine!
God has said the Jews should NOT make a covenant (agreement) with these people.
Bible Quote Exodus 23 31 And I will set thy bounds from the Red sea even unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; …… 32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them

Bin Laden marks Israel anniversary with combat vow
Headline Reuters May 16 2008
Osama bin Laden vowed in an audio tape to mark Israel's 60th anniversary to continue to fight the Jewish state and its allies in the West.
The al Qaeda leader, who has placed growing emphasis on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, said it was at the heart of the Muslim battle with the West and an inspiration to the 19 bombers who carried out the attacks on U.S. cities on September 11, 2001.
"We will continue, God permitting, the fight against the Israelis and their allies ... and will not give up a single inch of Palestine as long as there is one true Muslim on Earth," he said in the message, posted on an Islamist website on Friday.
Back in the year 2000, President Clinton (with just months left in office) decided to try to end the Israeli Palestinian conflict. In the July he invited Yasser Arafat and the then Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Barak to Camp David.
They discussed how to divide up the land and Jerusalem. Barak offered Arafat East Jerusalem and 97% of the West Bank. Arafat refused and returned home a hero for not accepting anything less than 100%. Just weeks later the Palestinian Intifada broke out. And from that time on we entered (as the Whitehouse calls it) the “Age of terror”. Terror in America, Spain, Bali, UK, Israel etc
Here we are 7/8 years later with another president with just months left in office. What is he trying to do? Divide Israel and Jerusalem. What does Osama Bin Laden say? We will launch more terror on Israel and its allies.
Every time someone tries to split God’s land and his city great trouble comes. This next time might be the final time of trouble such as never was…

Ashkelon Attack Launched From Jewish Town
Headline IsraelNationalNews May 15 2008
The Iranian-supplied Grad-type rocket fired at an Ashkelon mall Wednesday was launched from the former Gaza Jewish fishing village of Dugit, which was evacuated and destroyed by Israel in the 2005 Disengagement for the stated purpose of strengthening Israel's security.
Hamas-affiliated Popular Resistance Committees Spokesman Muhammad Abdel-Al told World Net Daily Wednesday that the attack, which wounded dozens, including children, was launched from Dugit, located along the coast in northern Gaza.
Dugit’s residents, mostly secular Jews who made a living fishing in the Mediterranean, left reluctantly, but without a struggle in 2005, when then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon announced his diplomatic plan to unilaterally withdraw the IDF from Gaza and destroy all the Jewish towns there. More than 9,000 residents were evicted from their homes in the operation.
At the time, residents and other opponents of the plan warned that the communities would be used as terrorist training camps and staging grounds for terrorist attacks.
In 2005, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon implemented his Disengagement Plan in which Israel demolished 21 Jewish towns in Gaza and 4 in northern Samaria, forcefully expelled the Jewish residents, and handed the Gaza area over to the Palestinian Authority. Since then these very areas have become terrorist training grounds.
Withdrawal from the land has NOT bought peace – it has brought destruction.
In fact on the 4th January 2006 Ariel Sharon was visited by an official cartographer called Otniel Schneller. By 3pm on that day Sharon had agreed what the final borders of Israel should be including the division of Jerusalem. 2 hours later after the meeting Sharon suffered a stroke and went into a coma. He remains in a coma to this day.

Russia wants control of downtown Jerusalem
Headline Israel Today May 31 2008
Moscow is in negotiations to purchase a large section of downtown Jerusalem once controlled by the Russian government prior to Israel's rebirth in 1948.
The 17-acre Russian Compound is today home to a large police facility and detention centre, numerous pubs and restaurants and a large Russian Orthodox church.
The Russian government built up the area in the 1860s to accommodate the large number of Russian pilgrims who were visiting Jerusalem every year, particularly around the time of Easter. Negotiations over the land has been ongoing since the premiership of Ehud Barak some seven years ago. The Russians are reportedly prepared to pay $100 million for the prime real estate.
An Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman speaking to Israel National News, stressed that Israel is not "selling" the land to Russia, but rather "returning" the area to its former owners.
This is surely a very dangerous way of putting things considering the Arab claim to all of what is today the Jewish state!
Russia is becoming increasingly interested in Israel. In recent times we have seen the Russian president (Putin) visit Israel. We have heard many statements that say they want to become involved in the peace talks. We have noted how they have been talking to all sides (including Hamas).
We know for certain that Russia thinks an evil thought to invade Israel to take a spoil. The fact we see Russia now negotiating to purchase a large amount of land in Jerusalem is proof that Russia IS interested in this place. What is perhaps most interesting is that Daniel says that Russia will one day establish some sort of dwelling in Jerusalem! When he does he will come to his end - when Christ returns.
Bible Quote Daniel 11 45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between
the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
Hamas build-up on border has reached 'alarming proportions' Headline World Tribune May 27 2008
The Hamas regime has significantly bolstered its military and deployment along the border with Israel.
Israeli military sources said Hamas has deployed hundreds of fighters in positions near the border with Israel. The sources said the combatants were dressed in civilian clothes and conducted reconnaissance and operations against Israeli military units deployed on the other side of the security fence that surrounds the Gaza Strip.
"Hamas's military capability has reached alarming proportions," Israel Security Agency director Yuval Diskin told the Cabinet on Sunday.
"The Hamas presence has expanded significantly over the last few weeks," a military source said.
On the 22nd May a truck bomb containing 4.5 tons of explosives exploded on the Gaza side of the border. It caused no Israeli casualties, but wrecked the border terminal, blasted a big hole in the border wall and shattered windows in Israel buildings. The truck bomb was followed by a group of Palestinian gunmen in a jeep.
The truck bomb is the most powerful ever used against Israel - even in the darkest days of the Palestinian terrorist campaign.
Meanwhile Israel is considering a ceasefire with Hamas. Government ministers meet tomorrow (Sunday) to decide whether to agree a ceasefire or to attack Gaza.
God says in Joel 3 that the coasts of Palestine (speaking of the people living in the current area of Gaza) have nothing to do with him. He is going to pay them back speedily because of what they have done. At the time Israel is surrounded by the armies of the world, Gaza too will suffer. Isaiah 14:29/31 speaks of these times.
Bible Quote Joel 3 4 Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head
Israel's PM urged to stand down

Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak has called on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to take a leave of absence or resign as he battles allegations of corruption. Mr Barak said he would take his Labour Party out of Mr Olmert's governing coalition if he did not step down.
"The prime minister needs to disconnect himself from the day-to-day management of the government," Mr Barak said.
Mr Olmert denies claims that he took up to $500,000 (£250,000) in bribes or illegal campaign donations. Mr Olmert, the head of the Kadima party, admits accepting funds before he became prime minister in 2006.
A US businessman has testified this week that he gave envelopes full of cash to Israel's prime minister but said he did not seek or receive any favours in return. Ehud Olmert is remaining defiant however. He has said he will stay in office despite a call by a key ally [Ehud Barak] to take a leave of absence or quit over corruption claims. "I am not going to give up," Mr Olmert said in Jerusalem.
The corruption charges are numerous against the prime minister of Israel. They involve large amounts of cash, abuse of power, property deals, tax fiddles etc. They also involve his personal secretary.
In the verses below (still relevant today) we read of how as time passes when Israel lives in the land that they become corrupt. God says that when this happens they will SOON perish from off the land. It is no coincidence that in these last days that we see corruption in Israel’s highest office. They will perish from off the land.
Bible Quote Deuteronomy 4 25 When thou shalt beget children, and children’s children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves…26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land. Israeli minister threatens Iran
Headline BBConline June 6 2008
A top Israeli official has said that if Iran continues with its alleged nuclear arms programme, Israel will attack it.
Speaking to Yediot Ahronot newspaper, Deputy Prime Minister Shaul Mofaz said sanctions on Iran were ineffective. "Attacking Iran, in order to stop its nuclear plans, will be unavoidable," he said.
Mr Mofaz is one of three deputy prime ministers and the transport minister.
Earlier this week, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Iran's nuclear programme must be stopped by what he termed all possible means.
In just a few days this week both the Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Olmert and one the deputy Prime Ministers have both threatened to attack Iran. Mr Olmert visiting America spoke of “an urgent need for more drastic and robust action”. He met George Bush on Wednesday to discuss the issue.
These comments have been the strongest yet from Israel to Iran. They indicate that time is running out and that Israel will eventually act perhaps alone.
Does the Bible indicate such a course of action for Israel? No, not specifically.
In the Bible Iran is spoken of as Persia and the Medes. But also as Elam. On the fall of the Assyrian empire, Elam passed into the hands of the Persians. The capital of Elam during its entire history was Shushan (Susa). Elam was situated in south western Iran. It is in this very area that key nuclear targets are to be found.
We then read in the verse below that in the latter days Elam will be consumed!
Bible Quote Jeremiah 49 37 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, saith the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them: 39 But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of
Elam, saith the LORD. Could this destruction in the latter days be brought about by Israel?

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attacks Jews at UN food summit in Rome Headline Daily Telegraph June 3 2008
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, has used his first trip to Western Europe to launch a new attack against Jews.
Arriving in Rome for a United Nations summit, Mr Ahmadinejad said: "The people of Europe have suffered the most harm from Zionists and today the costs of that falsified regime, whether political or economic, are on Europe's shoulders."
The Iranian president during his speech blamed the Jews for the food price increases the world is seeing!! As we mentioned on a previous slide it might not be too long before the Jews are blamed for the fuel price increases too.
Fuel and food are the two things this world needs desperately and a scapegoat is often required when governments come under immense pressure.
The Israeli ambassador to Italy protested Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's attendance at the international conference in Rome. He deplored the fact that Ahmadinejad had been invited to the Rome-based international agency. "To imagine on the podium of a U.N. organization a leader who calls for the destruction of a member state is a disgrace for every democrat," he said.
We read in Psalm 83 of certain nations of the world that want to destroy Israel. Note that in verse 8 it says “Assur is joined with them”. Assur is normally translated Assyria.
Assyria once controlled some of the territory of modern day Iran and in the context of this Psalm 83 seems to indicate Iran.
We see Iran working with Syria, the Palestinians and the inhabitants of Tyre (Hezbollah) with the one goal of brining Israel to an end. The end of the Psalm though speaks of these nations being confounded and men knowing that Yahweh is God.
Bible Quote Psalm 83 4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. 7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; 8 Assur also is joined with them

Israel's ambassador says Britain has become a hotbed of radical anti-Israeli feeling Daily Telegraph June 10 2008
Ron Prosor became Israel's ambassador to Britain last year. Ron Prosor claims that while the UK was once admired for its liberal fairness and decency, in recent years extremists have "hijacked" its debate over Israel.
He says his country has been turned into a "pantomime villain" by Britons who deny it has any right to exist, while terror attacks on Israeli citizens are ignored by both the media and public opinion.
He is particularly scornful of the academics who want to boycott Israeli universities over the country's treatment of Palestinians.
Ancient Tyre was once pro Jewish. The king of Tyre (Hiram) helped David and Solomon and loved them both. See 1 Kings 5. In later years Tyre turned against the Jews – even selling Jews into slavery. Tyre actually rejoiced over the downfall of Israel. See Ezekiel 26:2. This same pattern applies to modern day Britain…..
Ancient Tyre has a lot to do with modern Britain. Why? Well in Isaiah 23:6 we read that Tyre passes over to Tarshish. Ancient Tyre was destroyed by Alexander the Great but God says that Tyre would somehow pass over to Tarshish (Britain). In fact this did happen both literally and symbolically.
Ancient Tyre was the capital city of the Phoenicians. Using many ships they colonised many nations and traded with them. Tyre was the home of kings and became rich.
Britain (Tarshish) also colonised many nations, became a great Empire and had a huge navy. Britain is still the home of kings and became a great trading maritime nation.
But like Tyre it WAS pro Jewish but has sadly now turned against the Jews. Isaiah 23 concludes with latter day Tyre (Britain) becoming like a harlot. Britain has.
Bible Quote Isaiah 23 17 And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre, and she shall turn to her hire, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth.

Seven tremors in Lebanon felt in Israel
Headline International Christian Embassy June 13 2008
A series of up to seven earth tremors centred in Lebanon and measuring between 3.8 and 4.2 on the Richter scale have also been felt in northern and central Israel over the past 24 hours. No injuries or damage have been reported as of the latest quakes on Friday morning. Last February, two quakes measuring up to 5.3 on the Richter scale with epicenters just north of Tyre were also felt in the Galilee. At the start of the year, there was a series of four quakes as well in the Dead Sea area measuring between 3 and 4.3 on the Richter scale. Seismologists say the series of tremors do not necessarily indicate that a large earthquake is likely to hit the region, though the historic record suggests a strong earthquake can be expected soon in the Holy Land.
There are a growing number of small earthquakes that have shaken the land of Israel in recent months. Just this week there have been 7 earth tremors.
The epicentres have tended to be north of Israel in Lebanon but there have been some with epicentres in Israel itself around the Dead Sea.
The last major earthquake in Israel was 973 years ago. Geologist Dr. Shmuel Marco of Tel Aviv University said recently "We are now in a deficit. There's been no release of tension, just build-up. It's like if you have a strip of rubber between your hands and keep pulling it - you know that it's going to snap eventually."
With Bible in hand we know that a major earthquake centred on Israel IS coming.
It will be an earthquake like no other. It will even cause the Mount of Olives to split in two. Every wall will fall. Ezekiel 38:20. The earth will be utterly shaken. Isaiah 2:19
Bible Quote Zechariah 14 4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

2000 yr old seed to bear fruit in 3 years
Headline Jerusalem Post June 13 2008
Israeli scientists have succeeded in growing a rare palm tree species that has been extinct for hundreds of years from a 2,000-year-old date seed found in the ancient fortress of Masada. The seed was given the name Methuselah after the oldest person in the Bible.
Project manager Sarah Sallon said only in a few years time will scientists know whether the already 1.2 meter tall palm tree will prove to be a fruit bearing female.
Masada (where the seeds were found) is one of the Jewish people's greatest symbols. Israeli soldiers take an oath there: "Masada shall not fall again." Next to Jerusalem, it is the most popular destination of Jewish tourists visiting Israel. It is strange that a place known only because 960 Jews committed suicide there in the first century should become a modern symbol of Jewish survival.
The seeds found were indeed most likely remnants of the fruit stored by the Jews who lived in the fortress, hoping to avoid the invaders who had destroyed Second Holy Temple in Jerusalem.
It is remarkable that a seed over 2000 years old can spring to life and an extinct palm tree can grow again. But this little seed is a lesson to us. Firstly that God can bring back to life that which is dead. The Jewish nation was dead for 2000 years and remains spiritually dead now. But God has brought his people back to their land and will soon revive them spiritually when Christ returns. Read Ezekiel 37.
But is also speaks to us of resurrection. The verses below speak of the resurrection as a seed that comes to life and grows into a body. It will, even if 1000’s of years pass by!
Bible Quote 1 Corinthians 15 35 ¶ But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? 36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: 37 and that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
Methuselah himself will soon be resurrected!
Israelis 'rehearse Iran attack‘
Headline BBConline June 20 2008
Israel has carried out an exercise that appears to have been a rehearsal for an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, US officials have told the New York Times.
More than 100 Israeli fighter jets took part in manoeuvres over the eastern Mediterranean and over Greece in the first week of June, US officials said.
Iran insists its programme is peaceful, but Israel sees Iran's development of the technology as a serious threat.
The Israeli exercise, it seems, was designed to send a message to Tehran that Israel has the power and will to attack if it thought Iran was close to getting a nuclear weapon, the BBC's Jeremy Bowen reports.
Two weeks ago in the WWW, we reported that top Israeli officials had threatened to attack Iran if they continued with their nuclear arms program. What no one knew was that Israel in that very week was carrying out an exercise involving 100 fighter jets to practice such an attack.
Most commentators now say that it is too late for President Bush to cobble together a US led attack on Iran in his last 7 months. However, an Israeli led attack is something that would not need domestic American support. Israel would need Washington’s approval though as their fighter planes would have to fly through Iraqi airspace.
Even if Israel does attack Iran, one thing is certain. Iran will survive. Persia (modern day Iran) joins with Gog in Ezekiel 38 to attack Israel. There are prophesies about Elam (south western Iran) that could have a latter day fulfilment. Jeremiah 49:34-39 speaks of Elam begin dismayed and evil coming on them. Elam is the very area where most of the military nuclear targets are that would be hit in a strike.
Bible Quote Jeremiah 49 35 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might. 36 And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven an Israeli strike could possibly fulfil these verses
Oil price surge over apparent Israeli air drill for Iran attack Headline Debkafile June 21 2008
DEBKAfile’s military sources report that an oil price surge of 5 percent to $135.92 was triggered by the report leaked by US government officials of an Israeli air force drill over Greece for an apparent strike against Iran, Friday, June 20. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ordered a war alert in the Revolutionary Guards and armed forces, with the Israeli and US Gulf forces following suit.
Tehran made no immediate comment, while Iranian leaders were reported puzzled by the Bush administration’s motives in leaking the report to the New York Times.
The most extreme reaction came from the UN nuclear watchdog’s director Mohamad ElBaradei, who threatened to resign if there was a military strike on Iran, warning such an attack would turn the region into a “fireball.”
This week Iran’s ambassador to Syria said that Iran would pass on its “experience with nuclear power to Syria”. This “earthshattering statement” (as the Israeli press called it), has possibly come about because of Syrian peace talks with Israel. It is interesting that the next day US officials told the world about the Israeli rehearsal for an attack on Iran. These events bring us closer to the following scenario.
Israel finally decides enough is enough and launches an attack on Iranian nuclear bases.
This causes oil prices to rocket (the article shows that even a rumour of an attack can put prices up 5%!). The UN nuclear watchdog’s director resigns. The region is in turmoil. Who would the world blame? ISRAEL. Almost all governments are nervous at the moment with rising fuel and food prices. Riots have been breaking out around the world. A scapegoat is needed. Israel would fit the bill. All nations would soon be sucked into war – for everything the world holds dear is at stake.
Bible Quote Joel 3 2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel. 3 And they have cast lots for my people; cast lots = retribution

Olmert hails peace talks progress
Headline BBConline June 19 2008
Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has insisted that his government's peace talks with the Palestinian Authority are making progress.
In an interview with the BBC Arabic service, he said serious progress had been made on issues such as the borders of a future Palestinian state.
He said Israel was ready to compromise dramatically on territorial issues but that the process had to be "two-way". He said that his agenda was "to make peace with the Arab people". "I want to make peace with Palestinians, I want to make peace with the Syrians, I want to make peace with Lebanon," he said.
At the same time the signs of conflict grow, so does the talk of peace! Israel knows that they would be condemned if any strike on Iran went wrong so they have to appear that they want peace.
Notice the huge emphasis on peace in Ehud Olmert’s speech this week. Mr Olmert was speaking on the day a truce came into effect between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement, which controls the Gaza Strip.
The Jerusalem Post reported that this “truce” was only a “temporary lull before the storm.” No one really imagines that this truce is a real breakthrough to a lasting peace between Israel and Hamas. Hamas has never backed down on its core reason for existence – that is, Israel should be destroyed.
The Bible makes very clear that BEFORE the great destruction there WILL be talk of peace. The Bible does not say when there IS peace but when they SAY (talk/advise) peace. Israel is now talking peace with all its neighbours. See 1 Thessalonians 5:3.
The Bible also tells us that the leaders of Israel will seduce the Jewish people saying peace. But God himself says there will be NO PEACE. See the verse below…
Bible Quote Ezekiel 13 10 ¶ Because, even because they [Israel’s leaders] have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace

French president says Israel must share Jerusalem Associated Press June 23 2008
French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Monday there could be no Mideast peace unless Israel drops its refusal to cede sovereignty over parts of Jerusalem claimed by the Palestinians, challenging one of Israel's most emotionally held positions.
Speaking to a packed session of the legislature, Sarkozy called on Israel to stop settlement in the West Bank. But he tempered his address by assuring Israel that it could count on France's support in halting Iran's nuclear program.
Sarkozy, whose maternal grandfather was a Greek Jew, praised Israel's democracy and quoted the biblical passage in which God promises the Holy Land to the children of Israel.
This was the first French state visit to Israel in 12 years. The French President, Nicolas Sarkozy said a peace agreement would allow the two peoples (Israelis and Palestinians) to live together in peace and security.
The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:3 that when people are talking about and advising on “peace and safety (security)” then sudden destruction will come.
Here we have another world leader “advising” and “speaking” on the subject of “peace and safety”. It will lead to destruction. Why? Well look at his advice.
He is telling the Jews to divide Jerusalem. He is telling the Jews to stop building on the West Bank. He is telling the Jews to divide God’s land. Remarkably he even has the audacity to quote from the Bible where God says he will give the land to the Jews!
This man may seem friendly but ultimately France along with Europe will fight against Israel. He came as a wolf in sheep’s clothing. See Matthew 7:15.
We know that anyone who burdens themselves with Jerusalem will be cut in pieces.
Bible Quote Zechariah 12 3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces
Mr Sarkozy is burdening himself with Jerusalem. The fate of those who do is clear….
Mossad Chief Empowered to Prepare Groundwork for Iran Strike Headline Debkafile June 23 2008
By extending the Mossad director, Meir Dagan’s tenure for another year until the end of 2009, Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert has put in place a vital constituent for a possible eleventh-hour unilateral strike at Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The timing chosen for extending the Mossad chief’s tenure early summer of 2008 is indicative. Israeli intelligence estimates the summer months are critical for acting against Iran’s nuclear advances, especially uranium enrichment which Iran refuses to forego. If it is not stopped by September or October of 2008, it will be too late; Iran will have crossed the threshold to the last lap of its military program.
Israeli intelligence and its armed forces have three months to finish the job which has long been in preparation.
Debkafile’s analysts believe that an Israeli strike on Iran is possibly going to come in the next few months. By October 2008 they believe it will be too late for Israel to act.
This week John Bolton, the former American ambassador to the United Nations, predicted that Israel could attack Iran after the November presidential election but before George W Bush's successor is sworn in. He believes the "optimal window" for strikes would be between the November 4 election and the inauguration on January 20, 2009. Both Debkafile and John Bolton give Israel a 6 month window.
Israel has carried out military strikes against two nuclear sites, President Shimon Peres boasted on Thursday, saying "this is the only air force in the world that has such an achievement." The two attacks were on Iraq in 1981 and Syria last year.
If Israel does attack Iran it will leave them utterly isolated and friendless in the world –especially if the consequences prove disastrous. There are verses like the one below that speak of Israel isolated and without her “lovers”. I.e. those other nations that she trusted in (rather than God) reject her. Israel will be forced to turn to God.

Olmert’s Reign Nears End
Headline Israelnews June 27 2008
Ehud Olmert has found himself in a fix never before experienced by any Israeli prime minister before him: His own party, Kadima, is dumping him. Its strategists joined forces with its coalition partner, the Labor party, for a deal signed Wednesday, June 25, to replace him as head of government and party before Sept. 25.
By October, 2008, Olmert will be gone, dropped by his own loyalists, and a new Kadima prime minister will rule Israel with Labor endorsement guaranteed. The present front-runners to succeed him are foreign minister Tzipi Livni, a lawyer with even less government experience than Olmert, and transport minister Shaul Mofaz, a former IDF chief of staff and defense minister. Barring unforeseen events, the prospect of an early general election this year has receded to the spring of 2009.
Israel is therefore being dragged into one of the most critical three-month periods of its history, Iran’s threshold to nuclear armament, in a leadership void. The fateful decisions on whether or not to pre-empt a nuclear-armed Iran by force, with or without the United States, falls to a lame duck prime minister.
Israel is about to enter a very uncertain time politically. Olmert’s own supporters have paved the way to remove him from office. This is mainly due to the corruption scandals that constantly swirl around him but also due to his perceived military failures in Lebanon and Gaza.
What is interesting is that during this leadership void decisions will need to be taken in Israel over the situation in Iran. As the article above says the decision will have to be taken by a “lame duck prime minister”. All this does not bode well for Israel.
Their leaders have been corrupt, blind and godless. They have led the country to the brink of disaster by not trusting in God. The consequences will be a terrible war.
Bible Quote Isaiah 9 16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.

Shimon Peres, Israel's president, to woo the French for Dead Sea rescue plan Daily Telegraph June 22 2008
Gaping sinkholes and buildings that have collapsed into the mud mark the steady retreat of the Dead Sea, which is under threat after decades of environmental abuse.
Now Israel's president, Shimon Peres, is to enlist the support of Nicolas Sarkozy, the president of France, for an ambitious project to replenish it with water brought from the Red Sea by a new canal.
He plans to take Mr Sarkozy, who is visiting Israel this week, by helicopter across the Dead Sea to persuade him to back the £2.5billion "peace canal" project.
The Dead Sea, the ancient spa of the Queen of Sheba and Cleopatra and today the source of high-end beauty treatments for celebrities, is under serious threat. Although the sea's deepest point is nearly 1,000ft below the surface, much of the southern expanse is only a few feet deep. Its main tributary, the biblical Jordan river, has been reduced to a trickle of sewage and agricultural run-off by the diversion of much of its water to irrigate greenhouses and fields in Israel.
The Dead Sea is the lowest exposed point on the Earth’s surface. Sodom and Gomorrah were situated here and because of their wickedness and sin were destroyed with fire and brimstone. This area is symbolic of mankind and how far he is from God.
Interesting then in these last days that the Dead Sea is dying!
The Dead Sea is dying mainly because the Jordan has been diverted. The Bible tells of a time when the Dead Sea “failed” because the river Jordan was diverted. When this happened Joshua led the people into the land. This latter day diverting of the Jordan and failing Dead Sea might be a sign that Joshua (Jesus) is soon to lead us in! The Jordan river is symbolic of life. It is where Christ was baptised. The world has cut off (diverted) the teachings of Christ and the consequence is death.
Bible Quote Joshua 3 16 even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho. The salt sea = The Dead Sea
Middle East war threat rattles oil markets
Headline Daily Telegraph July 3 2008
A supply crunch and mounting fears of an Israeli air strike on Iran propelled oil to $143 a barrel at one stage yesterday, prompting warnings from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) of a severe economic crisis in poorer regions.
"Some countries are at a tipping point," said Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the IMF's managing-director.
"If food prices rise further and oil prices stay the same, some governments will no longer be able to feed their people.“
The energy markets have been seriously rattled by comments from a top Pentagon official warning that Israel may launch raids on Iran's Natanz nuclear facilities to pre-empt its acquisition of Russian air-defence missiles.
Israel’s name is now constantly being mentioned in connection with the rise in oil prices. As many realise, the main factor for the increase in oil is actually increased demand and lower supply. I.e. more nations are using more oil. HOWEVER… it is easier to blame one country than to blame the whole world for its greedy use of energy.
We can perhaps see how the whole world will turn against Israel. Oil is the one thing that makes the whole world tick over. If Israel is blamed for causing the world’s engine to stall then every nation has an interest in sorting out the Israeli problem!
In other words the world is beginning to say “Israel is affecting how much money we have in our pockets!”. There is nothing more emotive for a world focussed on mammon than that. Perhaps this is why the nations come to Israel to “take a spoil”. The nations may believe that the conquest of Israel would bring the greatest spoil of all. An end to the volatility in the Middle East and therefore revived economies!
Bible Quote Zechariah 14 1 ¶ Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle. The conquest of Israel could be for financial reasons.
Iran ready to strike at Israel’s nuclear heart
Headline Sunday Times June 29 2008
Iran has moved ballistic missiles into launch positions, with Israel’s Dimona nuclear plant among the possible targets, defence sources said last week.
The movement of Shahab-3B missiles, which have an estimated range of more than 1,250 miles, followed a large-scale exercise earlier this month in which the Israeli air force flew en masse over the Mediterranean in an apparent rehearsal for a threatened attack on Iran’s nuclear installations. Israel believes Iran’s nuclear programme is aimed at acquiring nuclear weapons.
The sources said Iran was preparing to retaliate for any onslaught by firing missiles at Dimona, where Israel’s own nuclear weapons are believed to be made.
This week the head of Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guards threatened to hurt Western economies by cutting off Gulf oil supplies if his country's nuclear facilities were attacked. About 40 per cent of all world oil exports flow through the 35-mile wide Strait of Hormuz, banked along its northern side by Iran. With world oil supplies already constricted, any Iranian action could push energy prices through the roof.
Debkafile reports this week that Iran has divided the country up into 31 military sectors as part of its stepped up preparations for war. General Mir-Faisal Baqerzadeh, head of the Iranian Army’s Foundation for the Remembrance of the Holy Defense and MIAs, said the 320,000 graves were to be dug for enemy forces in case of an attack on Iranian territory!
The Bible says that the final war in Israel will cause huge casualties. It will take 7 months to bury the dead in Israel alone. Let us remain on the Lord’s side until the end. For surely we do not want to be part of the coming destruction in the world.
Bible Quote Ezekiel 38 11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, …12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.

Northern Israel told to brace for major earthquake
Headline Israel Today June 30 2008
Israel's Health Ministry sent out an emergency warning to hospitals and rescue teams in the north of the country on Monday to be prepared for a major earthquake centered in southern Lebanon in the near future.
The warning was sent after an inter-ministerial committee studied new seismographic information that revealed southern Lebanon had been hit by no fewer than 500 small tremors since the start of this year. The frequency and strength of those tremors increased during the end of May and first part of June to the point that they were felt across the northern half of Israel.
Health Ministry Director-General Avi Yisraeli wrote that the current assessment is that an earthquake measuring around 6.0 on the Richter Scale will hit southern Lebanon soon.
Yisraeli noted that "such a quake would particularly affect the communities of northern Israel, and would include destruction of buildings and infrastructure."
There is an earthquake coming but it won’t just effect northern Israel. In fact it will be an earthquake so large that the whole world will be shaken.
The verses below come towards the end of the chapter that speaks of many nations invading Israel. God then brings about an earthquake centred on Israel that will be so severe that every wall will fall to the ground. It is part of the final judgement of the world. The 500 small tremors this year are a warning to us all that this is coming. We all need to prepare and get ourselves ready to meet our Lord.
Bible Quote Ezekiel 38 19 Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel; 20 So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.

Terrorist bulldozer rampage in Jerusalem
Headline Debkafile July 2 2008
In a rampage along Jerusalem’s crowded Jaffa Street thoroughfare, a bulldozer driven by a terrorist hoisted and overturned a packed 13 bus, while extending its shovel and plowing into several vehicles and pedestrians. The victims were Elizabeth Goren-Friedman, 54, Bathsheva Onterman, 33, and Zen Raluay, 68, all from Jerusalem.
Bathsheva saved her six-month old baby’s life by passing her out of her car window before the oncoming earthmover crushed her to death. The father is missing and may have been in the same car.
The bulldozer driver was tackled and shot dead by two policemen and a passing off-duty soldier. They clambered onto the careering vehicle and, while the policeman wrestled the terrorist to remove his foot from the gas pedal, the soldier shot him in the head. They stopped the carnage 200 meters short of Jerusalem’s big open air market and so averted a potential massacre.
These were terrible scenes of wanton destruction of human life in the heart of Jerusalem. To drive a bulldozer over men, women and children defies belief.
This is the third terrorist attack in Jerusalem in 11 months to have been carried out by a group calling itself the Galilee Liberation Brigades which is said to be sponsored by the Lebanese Hezbollah terror organization.
In yesterdays readings (below) we read that one day violence will no more be heard in Israel. But for now darkness covers the earth. But one day Zion (Jerusalem) will be a light to all the world. We long for the day for Christ to return and bring peace.
Bible Quote Isaiah 60 2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. 3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. 18 Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise..
Iran threatens to 'set fire' to Israel and US navy
Headline Daily Telegraph July 8 2008
Iran would "set fire" to Israel and the US navy in the Gulf if it were attacked, the regime said today, as its elite Revolutionary Guards began a major military exercise.
Ali Shirazi, a cleric who is the supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's representative to the Guards, warned: "The first US shot on Iran would set the United States' vital interests in the world on fire.
"Tel Aviv and the US fleet in the Persian Gulf would be the targets that would be set on fire in Iran's crushing response." He added that "the Zionist regime is pressuring the White House leaders to plan a military assault on Iran" and Tehran would react "if they commit such a stupidity".
These bellicose comments from Iran came as the leaders of the G8 met in Japan. They discussed the Iranian threat and expressed concern over Iran’s nuclear program. They urged Tehran to suspend all uranium enrichment and to co-operate with United Nations inspectors.
Over the last 5 days US and British warships completed an exercise aimed at rehearsing how they would protect oil installations in the Gulf if they came under attack.
The Lord God spoke to Jeremiah the prophet concerning a nation called Elam. Elam was situated in south western Iran. Elam was conquered by the Assyrians. On the fall of the Assyrian Empire it passed into the hands of the Persians. Jeremiah speaks of Elam coming to an end BUT being revived in the last days. (see verse below).
As ancient Elam was situated in Iran we must surely expect Elam to be restored in some way. Iran became a unique Islamic republic in 1979 when the monarchy was overthrown and religious clerics assumed political control. We have watched Elam being restored. Why? To enable God to bring his judgements on the nations.
Bible Quote Jeremiah 49 39 "Yet I will restore the fortunes of Elam in days to come," declares the LORD. (NIV) God uses a restored Elam to bring his judgments.

Iran test-fires missile capable of hitting Israel
Headline Daily Telegraph July 9 2008
Iran has test-fired a long-range missile capable of hitting Israel in an exercise condemned in the West, as tensions run high over its nuclear programme.
Nine missiles were reported fired in the tests at a secret location in the Iranian desert, according to Iranian television which broadcast footage of the plumes of smoke left following the launches.
The launch included a reportedly improved Shahab-3 missile, which officials said could reach targets up to 1,250 miles away, as well as the 100-mile-range Fateh and the medium-range Zelzal which can reach 125-250 miles.
"The aim of these war games is to show we are ready to defend the integrity of the Iranian nation," Hossein Salami, air force commander of the Revolutionary Guard, was quoted as saying by state-run television Al-Alam.
The next day Iran fired 9 missiles. "Our hands are always on the trigger and our missiles are ready for launch." the Iranian leader said.
The tests followed exercises by the Israeli air force, reported by United States intelligence officials to be a "dry run" for an attack nuclear sites inside Iran.
In Psalm 83 we read of God’s enemies making a tumult. They say they want to destroy Israel. Note that one of the nations is Assur. Assur is another name for Assyria which covered the territory of modern Iran. Assur we read below helps the children of Lot. In Genesis 19:30-38 we read that Lot’s daughters slept with him and gave birth to 2 sons. Moab and Benammi. Moab became the father of the Moabites and Benammi the father of the Ammonites. Both are Arab nations.
So we are told that Iran (Assur) would help some Arab nations in trying to destroy Israel!
Bible Quote Psalm 83 2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: .. 4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. 8 Assur also is joined with them: they have helped the children of Lot.

Israeli jets using Iraq's airspace?
Headline PressTV July 10 2008
The US has allowed Israeli jets to use US airbases in Iraq and fly over Iraqi airspace for a likely attack against Iran, Iraqi media say.
It is more than a month that some Israeli planes belonging to Israeli air force use the US military bases in Iraq to land and take off, Iraqi Nahrainnet news network said Wednesday, quoting informed sources close to Iraq's Defense Ministry.
The activities and traffic of warplanes- especially at nights- has lately increased in the US air bases in Nasiriya southeast of Baghdad and Haditha a city in the western Iraq province of Al Anbar, the Iraqi residents and sources said.
They said the US fighters, cargo planes, helicopters and unmanned planes have intensified their flights in the last three weeks.
If this report is true, war cannot be far off. On Thursday this week Israel's defence minister warned Iran his country was ready to act if threatened. Ehud Barak said that while military action was a last resort, his country had proved in the past it would not hesitate when "its vital security interests are at stake."
His remarks came as Tehran test fired ANOTHER salvo of missiles capable of hitting the Jewish state. Iran’s state run TV interrupted its broadcast to show more missiles being fired. A former director of the Mossad, Israel's foreign intelligence service, told The Daily Telegraph that the missile testing signals that crisis is nearing a peak. The Economist ran an article this week entitled “Coming to a city near you?”
“Be very afraid, please. America and Israel often hint at military action to stop Iran’s suspected nuclear-weapons programme. The latest rumblings, however, may be more serious.” We have been given enough warning. The harvest is ripe!
Bible Quote Joel 3 9 ¶ Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: 10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.

Large meteor crosses Israeli skies
Headline Jerusalem Post July 9 2008
A large meteor crossed Israel's skies on Tuesday evening, and was seen by many residents, mainly in the center of the country, Army Radio reported.
According to citizens' reports, the object was seen at approximately 8:15 p.m., as it crossed the sky from east to west horizontally. Some witnesses said they saw two shiny objects in the sky, and others reported that they heard a shrieking sound.
A Petah Tikva resident told Army Radio that he saw a beam of light, which crossed the sky in the direction of the sea. "It looked like a comet, with a long white tail, but much shinier and moving much faster," he said.
Yigal Pat-El, chairman of the Israeli Union of Astronomers, told Army Radio that the meteor was exceptionally large, and that its entry into the atmosphere was not expected.
This relatively large and unexpected meteor streaked across the sky over central Israel Tuesday evening, sparking widespread fears that the nation was under attack by Iran or Syria. With all the missiles being fired this week in Iran perhaps this was not surprising. The large bright ball and flaming tail were visible around 8 PM and were seen by thousands of Israelis from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv. As soon as the meteor had disappeared and burned up in earth's atmosphere, calls to the police began pouring in.
We read of falling stars in the Olivet prophecy as a sign of the nearness of Christ’s coming. An unexpected large meteor is seen over Israel (of all the places in the world!) at the very time war looks close. Coincidence. NO. God is in control of all celestial events. It is another sign both to Israel and to us. We should look up.
Bible Quote Mark 13 25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. 26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. We might see much more celestial activity before the end.
Joy and grief greet prisoner swap
Headline BBConline July 17 2008
It was a day of great emotion on both sides of the Lebanese- Israeli border. In Israel it was a day of grief and anger but in Lebanon triumph and defiance have dominated.
That sense of victory was particularly strong at the Hezbollah rally in the southern suburbs of Beirut. Tens of thousands of people were packed into a square carrying the yellow and green flags of Hezbollah, as well as the Lebanese national flag. The loyalty of the Hezbollah faithful was rewarded by a rare public appearance of the leader of the movement, Hassan Nasrallah, who was there to greet the five militants who were released by Israel earlier in the day. "The age of defeats is gone, and the age of victories has come," said Sheikh Nasrallah. "This people, this nation gave a great and clear image today to its friends and enemies that it cannot be defeated."
Tears, grief and anger in Israel. Joy, celebration and victory parades in Lebanon.
The scenes could not have been more different. Israel wanted the bodies of 2 dead Israeli soldiers which Hezbollah had killed in 2006. It was these deaths that sparked the Lebanon war in 2006. In return for these 2 decomposed bodies Israel released 5 Hezbollah militants from jail and returned over 200 bodies. This prisoner release means that there are NO Hezbollah militants left in any Israeli jail. 400 of them were released in a prisoner swap in 2004. So does this bode well for peace? NO.
Incredibly it actually strengths Hezbollah and in fact brings conflict between Israel and Hezbollah closer. The Bible speaks of the final war in Joel 3. We read that the weak will say I am strong. This is very much like what Hezbollah leader said. “The age of defeats is gone, the age of victories is come”. The weak say “I AM STRONG”.
Israel continues to make godless decisions that bring the day of judgement closer.
Bible Quote Joel 3 10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.

Germany's success as Mid-East broker
Headline BBConline July 16 2008
Germany has once again drawn on its successful diplomacy and secret network of contacts in the Middle East, to help broker a prisoner swap deal between Israel and Hezbollah.
Gerhard Conrad, who holds a senior post in Germany's foreign intelligence agency, BND, has been overseeing the deal, officially on behalf of the UN.
The country's secret service agents - reportedly including Mr Conrad - have played a key role in the two major prisoner exchange deals in 1996 and 2004.
In the Middle East, personal relations are key to negotiations, and the BND has long-standing contacts with key players, among them Israeli Mossad agents as well as Iranian secret service agents. Germans enjoy a reputation in the region as an "honest broker".
We saw on the first slide how France is pushing for more Middle East involvement and commented that in fact the talk of peace will lead to war.
Here we have Germany (behind the scenes) bringing about so called “successful diplomacy” and helping to broker the prisoner swap mentioned on the previous slide.
The “successful diplomacy” has left Israel in grief and anger and has strengthened the resolve of Israel enemies. Israel should not be trusting the “honest broker” of Germany. Germany we know is part of the beast system spoken of in Revelation 17. It is this beast system (Europe) that fundamentally is against God’s people – natural or spiritual. Ultimately when Christ return it is this very system that will make war against Christ and his saints.

Hizbollah has marked the conclusion of the prisoner exchange with Israel by launching new tactics consisting of anti-air missile ambushes against Israeli Air Force flights over Lebanon and anti-ship missiles against Israel naval craft cruising off its shores.
The next day, the Lebanese army said Israeli warplanes violated Lebanese airspace in the south, Beirut, Jounieh and Dahr al-Baidar on Wednesday and early Thursday.
Israeli warships were deployed in Lebanese territorial waters from Naqoura to Tyre.
It was clear Wednesday, July 16, that Hizbollah was now calling the shots in Beirut when the president and government were forced to honour the spectacular heroes’ welcome the Shiite group organized for the five imprisoned terrorists released by Israel. Our military sources add that anti-air missiles and radar equipment have been installed on the Mt. Sannine peak in central Lebanon in the last few days, as DEBKAfile first revealed (in a report picked up by the world media).
It is also reported in Debkafile this week that with the help of Iranian and Syrian military experts, Hizbollah has ranged the length of the Lebanese coast a dense line of 1,000 Iranian C-802 anti-ship missiles. With new anti-air missiles and radar equipment that have just been installed on the Mt. Sannine peak in central Lebanon, Hizbollah is preparing to shoot down encroaching Israel flights. Israel has deployed warships into Lebanese waters and sent in its warplanes into Lebanese airspace.

Israel has 'amber light' for Iran strike
Headline Sunday Times July 13 2008
President George W Bush has told the Israeli government that he may be prepared to approve a future military strike on Iranian nuclear facilities if negotiations with Tehran break down, according to a senior Pentagon official.
Despite the opposition of his own generals and widespread scepticism that America is ready to risk the military, political and economic consequences of an airborne strike on Iran, the president has given an “amber light” to an Israeli plan to attack Iran’s main nuclear sites with long-range bombing sorties, the official told The Sunday Times.
“Amber means get on with your preparations, stand by for immediate attack and tell us when you’re ready,” the official said. But the Israelis have also been told that they can expect no help from American forces and will not be able to use US military bases in Iraq for logistical support.
The motto of the United Nations is to end war. Above the door as you walk into the UN building in New York are the words “and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks”. This is a quote from Isaiah 2 :4 which speaks of the time when Christ has returned and his kingdom established. The verse goes on to say that “nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” Interesting that the ultimate aim of the world is actually the ultimate aim of God.
But will mankind achieve this or will it take God’s intervention by sending his son?
We know mankind will NEVER achieve peace. In fact mankind does the opposite. He “beats his plowshares into swords and his puninghooks into spears”. Joel 3:10.
Note the Whitehouse advice to Israel. “GET ON WITH YOUR PREPARATIONS AND STANDBY FOR IMMEDIATE ATTACK.” Gentile advises Jew to prepare for war.

Mid East deal possible, says PM
Headline BBConline July 20 2008
Gordon Brown has said he is optimistic Israel and the Palestinians can sign a peace deal, and has promised British funds to help it work.
The PM was speaking after meetings with Israeli and Palestinian leaders during a visit to the Middle East.
Mr Brown said the UK "would do anything we can" to underpin a political breakthrough with economic support. Earlier he said there was an "urgent need for justice" for the Palestinians, and a viable Palestinian state.
UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown arrived in Israel last Saturday. It was a two-day visit to mark Israel's 60th anniversary. The prime minister followed in the footsteps of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, US President George W. Bush and French President Nicolas Sarkozy who visited Israel in the past months. Barak Obama (one of the candidates for the next president of America) was also in Israel this week.
The 60th anniversary of the recreation of Israel has caused these world leaders to visit the Holy Land but ALL of them come with the same repeated message for the Israelis. NOW is the time to make peace with the Palestinians, NOW is the time to withdraw to the borders of 1967, NOW is the time to divide Jerusalem.
Gordon Brown said all these things to the Knesset. “I believe that a historic, hard won but lasting peace is within your grasp”, “a two-state solution based on 1967 borders”, “with Jerusalem the capital for both”, “Israel freezing, and withdrawing from, settlements”. In fact these ideas expressed by all these world leaders are godless. The land should NOT be divided, Jerusalem should NOT be split, Israel should live in the WHOLE land. Why? Because God has gathered them to live there.
Bible Quote 2 Chronicles 7 19 But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, ….20 Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them. This is God speaking. Note he says “MY land” he has given Israel.
Britain is our friend and ally in freedom
Headline Daily Telegraph July 18 2008
On Monday, Gordon Brown will become the first Prime Minister to address the Knesset. The occasion reflects the fact that Israel's parliamentary tradition was inspired by Britain. It is fitting that, 150 years after the first Jewish MP took his seat at Westminster, the British PM will be welcomed as an honoured guest in our Jewish "House of Commons".
In Gordon Brown’s speech to the Knesset he quoted a poet. “You were born against the odds; You survived against the odds; You grew against the odds; You have prevailed and flourished against all odds; You have proved that men and women of idealism, bravery and perseverance can succeed whatever the odds. And I am proud that the British Jewish community - and the British people - have had a distinguished place and a part in your great endeavour.”
Britain has indeed played an important role in the establishment of Israel. Britain conquered Palestine in 1917 and issued the Balfour Declaration, which expressed support for the establishment of a Jewish home in Palestine. Britain’s role in relation to Israel is detailed out in the Bible. Britain is identified in the Bible as Tarshish and a latter day Tyre.
It was John Thomas (founder of the Christadelphians in the mid 1800’s) that wrote in his book Elpis Israel in 1848 these words “The finger of God has indicated a course to be pursued by Britain which cannot be evaded”. He believed that Britain would one day promote “colonization by the Jews” in the “Holy Land”. He wrote this 70 years before the Balfour Declaration!
The Bible also prophesies how Britain would turn against Israel just as ancient Tyre did.
This has also happened. Britain now promotes the division of Israel and Jerusalem.
Bible Quote Isaiah 60 9 ¶ Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far. See Isaiah 23 v 6-18 to read of latter day Tyre (Britain!)

Israel hit by new digger attack
Headline BBConline July 22 2008
A Palestinian in a mechanical digger has rammed traffic in west Jerusalem, injuring at least 10 people before being shot dead.
A bus and a number of cars were hit during the incident. Some cars were crushed and one was turned on its roof.
Witnesses say an armed civilian first shot at the driver, before he was killed by border police. Three weeks ago a Palestinian man went on a deadly rampage in a heavy vehicle in Jerusalem, killing three Israelis.
As the world leaders descend on Israel with their message of division, Jerusalem continues to see violence and death.
The latest attack took place in a busy part of central West Jerusalem, close to the King David Hotel - just hours before US Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama visited the city. Barack Obama wound up his two-day visit to Israel Thursday morning with a pre-dawn visit to the Western Wall, where he and his wife quietly read Psalm 122. The Psalm is a prayer for peace for the city of Jerusalem.
It speaks of a day when in fact Jerusalem will be a city of peace. Perhaps at this time and more than ever we should pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Note that is speaks of Jerusalem being “compact”. The word means “united.” NOT divided!
Bible Quote Psalm 122 1 ¶ I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD. 2 Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem. 3 Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together: 4 Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD. 5 For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David. 6 ¶ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. 7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces. 8 For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee. 9 Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good.

Israel says near to getting Russia gas for pipeline
Headline Reuters July 17 2008
Israel is close to an agreement with Russia that would secure natural gas for a planned pipeline project between Turkey and Israel, Israeli Infrastructure Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer said on Thursday.
The project consists of five pipelines that would carry water, natural gas, oil, electricity and fibre optics from Turkey's Mediterranean coast to Israel.
"We are very close to reaching an agreement with Russia that would supply the pipeline with natural gas," Ben-Eliezer said after meetings with Turkish energy officials over technical details of the pipeline project.
Feasibility studies on an accompanying oil pipeline will be done in 10 months, said Turkish Energy Minister Hilmi Guler, adding that the pipeline could carry at least 40 million tonnes of oil annually.
What this does show is Russia’s keen interest in Israel.
Israel is no back water country. The economy grew by 8% in the last quarter of 2007, the fastest growth of any Western nation. The major industrial sectors include metal products, electronic and biomedical equipment, processed foods, chemicals, and transport equipment. Israel possesses a substantial service sector and the Israel diamond industry is one of the world's centres for diamond cutting and polishing. It is also a world leader in software development and is a major tourist destination. In 1998, Tel Aviv was named by Newsweek as one of the ten most technologically influential cities in the world. American billionaires and business tycoons including Bill Gates and Donald Trump have each praised Israel’s economic environment.
When Russia does invade it is perhaps no surprise that Britain and America ask if Russia has come to take a spoil. There are plenty of spoils in Israel.
Bible Quote Ezekiel 38 13 Art thou come to take a spoil? ..to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?
Possibility of a Hezbollah Attack on Israel
Headline Stratfor July 21 2008
Israeli military intelligence chief Amos Yadlin warned Israel on Sunday of the increased potential for a Hezbollah attack along Israel’s northern frontier. Yadlin said that Hezbollah militants could use continuing disputes over border territories and Israeli Air Force flights over Lebanon as excuses to attack northern Israel. An attack on Israel certainly might be launched under one of the pretexts Yadlin mentioned, but Hezbollah strategy is far more complex than that.
Israel has been engaged in talks with Syria for some time now. Although Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Syrian President Bashar al Assad have not publicly sealed an agreement yet, we have seen a number of indications that the Syrians are taking steps to reduce Hezbollah’s influence in Lebanon. Cooperation between Syria and Israel spells serious trouble for Hezbollah, as any deal between the two countries will have to involve Syria cracking down on the militant group and weakening its position in Lebanon. Hezbollah needs to disrupt the talks between Syria and Israel in order to have a chance of survival. By blatantly attacking Israel, Hezbollah could exploit Israeli misgivings about Syria and a weak Israeli leadership to derail the peace talks.
Hezbollah is an Islamic political and paramilitary organisation based in Lebanon. Hezbollah leaders have made numerous statements calling for the destruction of Israel. It appears they are under some pressure with the peace talks occurring between Israel and Syria. Heavily armed by Iran (and Syria) they may well decide to provoke a new war with Israel. Interestingly in Joel 3, (which speaks of the gathering of all nations to war against Israel,) Tyre and Zidon are mentioned. These 2 cities are the current strongholds of Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Bible Quote Joel 3 4 Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? God is speaking. Tyre and Zidon have nothing to do with him.
Israel backs Georgia in Caspian Oil Pipeline Battle with Russia
Headline Debkafile August 8 2008
Georgian tanks and infantry, aided by Israeli military advisers, captured the capital of breakaway South Ossetia, Tskhinvali, early Friday, August 8, bringing the Georgian-Russian conflict over the province to a military climax.
Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin threatened a “military response.”
Jerusalem owns a strong interest in Caspian oil and gas pipelines reach the Turkish terminal port of Ceyhan, rather than the Russian network. Intense negotiations are afoot between Israel Turkey, Georgia, Turkmenistan and Azarbaijan for pipelines to reach Turkey and thence to Israel’s oil terminal at Ashkelon and on to its Red Sea port of Eilat. From there, supertankers can carry the gas and oil to the Far East through the Indian Ocean.
Aware of Moscow’s sensitivity on the oil question, Israel offered Russia a stake in the project but was rejected.
Last year, the Georgian president commissioned from private Israeli security firms several hundred military advisers, estimated at up to 1,000, to train the Georgian armed forces in commando, air, sea, armoured and artillery combat tactics. They also offer instruction on military intelligence and security for the central regime. Tbilisi also purchased weapons, intelligence and electronic warfare systems from Israel.
These advisers were undoubtedly deeply involved in the Georgian army’s preparations to conquer the South Ossetian capital Friday.
In recent weeks, Moscow has repeatedly demanded that Jerusalem halt its military assistance to Georgia, finally threatening a crisis in bilateral relations. Israel responded by saying that the only assistance rendered Tbilisi was “defensive.”
This has not gone down well in the Kremlin. Therefore, as the military crisis intensifies in South Ossetia, Moscow may be expected to punish Israel for its intervention.
Israel backs Georgia
This is a remarkable article in Debkafile that perhaps shows us for the very first time how Israel, Georgia, Russia and oil are all linked together. It helps explain why in fact Russia eventually will invade Israel and also how oil is really at the very centre of the issue.
Israel needs oil and it appears has been negotiating with Georgia and Turkey to bring an oil pipeline down into Ashkelon. (Israel).
Russia was involved in the discussions at a very late stage and they rejected the proposals. Russia is extremely sensitive to any oil deals done on its southern border in Georgia. It wants to control as much oil flow as possible.
At the same time these oil discussions take place Georgia asks Israel for military assistance. Why? Because Georgia could see Russia stirring trouble on its borders following Kosovan independence.
So Israel (wanting the oil pipeline) sends up to 1000 military advisers to help train Georgian troops.
So suddenly we have Israel backing Georgia with military assistance and Russia attacking Georgia / South Ossetia. We can see therefore why the article concludes “Therefore, as the military crisis intensifies in South Ossetia, Moscow may be expected to punish Israel for its intervention.”
Russia is going to descend on Israel like a whirlwind. It will be very sudden. The main route to Israel is straight through Georgia, then through Turkey. As the Russian tanks pass into South Ossetia we may be looking at the first cracks in a dam that will burst with great force.
Let us at this time look up. All the pieces are in place. The return of our Lord Jesus may not be far away. The time of the judgement of the world draws near.
Bible Quote Ezekiel 38 18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face. 19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel 20 So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence

Russian units raid Georgian airfields for use in Israeli strike against Iran
Debkafile Special Report, September 5, 2008
The raids were disclosed by UPI chief editor Arnaud de Borchgrave, who is also on the Washington Times staff, and picked up by the Iranian Fars news agency. The Russian raids of two Georgian airfields, which Tbilisi had allowed Israel to use for a potential strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities, followed the Georgian offensive against South Ossetia on August 7. Under the secret agreement with Georgia, the airfields had been earmarked for use by Israeli fighter-bombers taking off to strike Iran in return for training and arms supplies.
DEBKAfile’s intelligence sources report that flying from S. Georgia over the Caspian Sea to Iran would sharply trim the distance to be spanned by Israeli fighter-bombers, reducing flying time to 3.5 hours.
Northern Iran and the Tehran region, where most of the nuclear facilities are concentrated, would be within range, with no need to request US permission to pass through Iraq air space. Russian Special Forces also raided other Israeli facilities in southern Georgia and captured Israeli spy drones, says the report.
It appears from this Debkafile report that Israel was planning to use Georgian airfields if it decided to strike Iran. Flying from Georgia would cut down Israel’s flying time and make the strike more effective.
Note as well that Russia captured Israeli spy drones during the conflict.
Before Russia’s invasion of Georgia in August few of us probably realised how Israel was involved in the area. We reported in the WWW on 08/08/08 how Israel had sent hundreds of military advisers to Georgia in recent months. Moscow has repeatedly demanded that Jerusalem halt its military assistance to Georgia.
Perhaps the future Russian invasion of Israel is partly retribution for this.
Israel Prepares To Attack Iran Amid Signs of Renewed Atomic Bomb Work
Daily Telegraph, September 12, 2008
Fresh evidence has emerged that suggests Iran has renewed work on developing nuclear weapons, according to Western security sources.
Experts responsible for monitoring Iran's nuclear program have discovered that enough enriched uranium, which if processed to weapons grade level could be used to make up to six atomic bombs, has disappeared from the main production facility at Isfahan.
American spy satellites have identified a number of suspicious sites, which the Iranians have not declared to nuclear inspectors, that intelligence officials believe are being used for covert research.
The discoveries emerged as it was learned that Israel had asked America for military supplies, including "bunker buster" bombs and refuelling planes, suitable for attacking Iranian nuclear installations.
The Israeli paper, Haaretz, reported yesterday that Israel had also asked for permission to use an air corridor through Iraqi airspace, currently controlled by America, to Iran.
It appears increasingly likely that if Iran is going to be attacked it will be Israel that would do it. Israel needs America’s “go ahead” as it requires US military assistance and permission to fly over Iraqi airspace. Developments though this week point to an attack being more likely. Iran seems to have renewed its work on nuclear weapons. On top of this, Israel is more confident than previously due to its successful operation last year when it completely destroyed a nuclear site in Syria.
Israel is described as being over confident in Ezekiel 39. The word “safely” is the Hebrew word “Betach” which can mean a false sense of security.

Kadima in uproar over talk of Jerusalem
BBConline, September 5, 2008
Israel conveyed its displeasure to Washington on Thursday over remarks reportedly made by US Consul General Jacob Walles that it had agreed to start negotiations with the Palestinians over Jerusalem. The comments prompted a bitter row among Kadima's would-be leaders.
According to government sources, Walles's comments, which appeared in the Palestinian daily Al-Ayyam, were "highly inappropriate," since there is a US-Palestinian-Israeli agreement not to go public with what is being discussed by the negotiators.
The paper quoted Walles as saying in an interview that US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told both sides during her visit here last month that the basis for the negotiations was an Israeli withdrawal to the pre-1967 lines, including from east Jerusalem. Walles said changes to those lines were possible should both sides agree.
We cannot be sure of who is telling the truth here. The US general has been quoted as saying that Israel has now agreed to start final negotiations over Jerusalem.
The current prime minister Ehud Olmert said on Thursday that "We have achieved significant progress, but we haven't started the negotiations on Jerusalem yet.“
But he went on to say he would do everything in his power to strike a deal during his last days in office - "an agreement," he said, "that would protect Israel from now on.“
Is seems as though both could be true. If Israel wants to strike a deal with the Palestinians before the end of 2008 they may well have agreed to discuss Jerusalem.
We know with Bible in hand that Jerusalem is going to be discussed. Nations will try to move it. The dividing of Jerusalem will bring the final judgements of God.
Police: Indict Olmert on corruption charges
Discovery, September 5, 2008
Israel's police recommended Sunday that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert should be indicted in a string of corruption cases, according to an official document.
The police statement said they want to indict Olmert in affairs that include receiving tens of thousands of dollars from a U.S. business -man and double-billing Jewish groups for trips abroad.
The police recommendation would have only limited effect. The decision about whether to indict Olmert rests with the attorney general, Meni Mazuz. In the past, Mazuz and his predecessors have turned down police recommendations to indict Israeli leaders several times.
Corruption charges at the highest level in the Israeli government.
These charges have already had their political impact. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will resign after his party Kadima chooses a new leader on September 17th.
Some have queried the vagueness of the actual date he will resign and believe he may try to cling on to power for a little while longer.
In the meantime this is the man that heads up the peace talks with the Palestinians.
It was only last year that the BBC had a headline “Israel faces corruption epidemic”
They quoted Ehud Olmert and also the president of Israel at the time Moshe Katsav who was accused of rape.
In these last days, before the great conflict over Israel, it should come as no surprise that the leaders of God’s people are themselves corrupt and godless. They promise peace but will bring destruction. Only Christ’s government will be without corruption.
PM: 'Greater Israel' concept over
Jerusalem Post, September 14, 2008
The concept of 'Greater Israel' concept is over, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told the weekly cabinet meeting, during which Vice Premier Haim Ramon's evacuation-compensation bill was discussed on Sunday.
"'Greater Israel' is finished. There is no such thing as that anymore. Whoever talks in those terms is only deluding himself," said the prime minister.
Olmert admitted that he had changed his mind on the subject. "I admit that I didn't always have this opinion. I thought and I also said to [Defence Minister] Ehud Barak that the concessions he offered at Camp David were exaggerated. I believed that the land from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean was all ours since in every place there which is excavated, there is evidence of Jewish History.
But finally, after a lot of suffering and misgivings, I came to the conclusion that we need to share the land ... if we don't want to become a bi-national state.”
These are astounding words from Ehud Olmert and it is a view shared by his party Kadima and many in Israel. What Olmert calls “Greater Israel” is what God calls “the land”. “The land” is described in detail by God in Numbers 34 (which has its eastern border as the Jordan river). Olmert is saying that the Jewish nation must relinquish the West Bank. At the meeting mentioned above they discussed compensation for “settlers” living in the West Bank. A bribe in effect to persuade Jews to move out of the West Bank and move behind the “fence” that Israel has built.
Olmert also went on to say that Israel is the strongest nation in the region “no entity can overcome us!” Olmert is wrong on all counts. “The land” is the LORD’s and HE has given it to the Jews. In their godless arrogance HE is the entity that will overcome them.
Abbas welcomes Livni's Kadima victory
Jerusalem Post, September 19, 2008
Palestinian Authority officials on Thursday welcomed the election of Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni as chairwoman of Kadima and said they were looking forward to working with her to advance the peace process.
The officials said that PA President Mahmoud Abbas was satisfied with Livni's victory because he believed that she is dedicated to the peace process.
They said that as head of the Israeli negotiating team, Livni had much more experience in conducting the talks with the Palestinians than any other senior Israeli government official.
"President Abbas is looking forward to working with Livni after she succeeds [Prime Minister] Ehud Olmert," said one official. "We believe that Livni will do her utmost to achieve a breakthrough in the negotiations.
Ehud Olmert has been forced to stand down as prime minister of Israel because of all the corruption charges being bought against him. This week in Israel, Kadima (the governing party) voted for a new leader. Miss Tzipi Livni.
Ehud Olmert will formally resign on Sunday but will remain as interim prime minister until Miss Livni can form a government. She has 42 days to do this. If she fails there will be a general election in Israel. If she succeeds Miss Livni will be the first female prime minister since Golda Meir stepped down back in 1974.
So what do we know about her? Well, she has served as Israel’s lead negotiator with the Palestinians. She favours the dividing of Jerusalem. The Palestinians like her because of this and believe she will drive forward the peace process.
We enter a period of political uncertainty in Israel. A new year begins in Israel on the 29th September. This may be “the year of recompenses for the controversy of Zion.”
Bush still 'hopeful' on Mid-East
BBConline, September 25, 2008
The US will continue to seek a Middle East peace deal during George W Bush's final months in office, the president has told the Palestinian leader.
Meeting Mahmoud Abbas at the White House, Mr Bush said he was "hopeful" of a deal and said he remained committed to establishing a Palestinian state.
Speaking at the Oval Office, Mr Bush told Mr Abbas: "I appreciate your determination and your desire to have a Palestinian state. I share that desire with you. It's not easy."
"As you know, I've got four more months left in office and I'm hopeful that the vision that you and I have worked on can come to pass," he added.
In his dying days of office President Bush remains committed to establishing a Palestinian state.
America now firmly backs the division of Israel.
In Joel 3 we read of all nations being gathered to battle over Israel. We also read in verse 2 that the nations have “parted” God’s land. The word parted means divided.
God then asks a question in verse 4. “What have you to do with me…. coasts of Palestine”. The coasts of Palestine refers to the area of the modern Gaza Strip.
So we have President Bush speaking of the “parting” of God’s land with the leader of the “coasts of Palestine”! What does God think to these things. Well he tells us in verse 16. He will “roar out of Zion and utter his voice from Jerusalem; the heavens and earth shall shake”.
We see America’s proud financial institutions beginning to shake. The super power is super because of its wealth. God can remove both its wealth and power.
Financial crisis sparks anti-Semitism
Jerusalem Post, October 4, 2008
The worldwide financial meltdown has triggered an uptick in anonymous anti-Semitic comments blaming Jews for the crisis on mainstream Web site message boards, the Anti- Defamation League said on Thursday.
"Jews are greedy, rotten slimeballs," wrote one surfer on a Yahoo Finance group, according to the ADL statement.
"It's difficult, if not impossible, for one honest investor to neutralize the efforts of thousands of Jewish swindlers," another added. A YouTube video titled "The Court Jewsters" includes a montage of Jewish figures involved in the crisis - from Lehman Brothers chief Richard Fuld to US Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Benanke - and includes a shot of a dollar bill emblazoned with "In Zionist bankers we trusted."
It is amazing how many Jews either run banks or even started them when you consider how small a nation they are. For those who hate the Jews, when things go wrong they are then an easy target to blame. In fact this was prophesied in Deuteronomy 28:37 “You will become an object of horror, scorn, and ridicule among all the peoples where the LORD will drive you” (NIV).
Tuesday this week was Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Years Day) and of course the Jews have a holiday. As there are so many Jews in the American congress it meant that the timetable for the financial rescue deal in America was built around the Jewish holiday! The initial vote in congress was pushed through quickly to be taken before the Jewish holiday. When it was voted down they could not vote again until after the Jewish holiday. The Jews are at the centre of this turmoil and will be in the future war.

Mr. Olmert’s belated truths
The New York Times, October 3, 2008
Ehud Olmert, Israel’s soon to be ex-prime minister, voiced some startling truths this week. He said that in exchange for peace, Israel should withdraw from “almost all” of the West Bank and share its capital city, Jerusalem, with the Palestinians. He also said that as part of a negotiated peace deal with Syria, Israel should be ready to give up the Golan Heights.
His statements in a farewell interview with the newspaper Yediot Ahronoth were unlike anything any Israeli political leader had dared to say — at least publicly — before. He also dismissed as “megalomania” any suggestion that Israel should act by itself to destroy Iran’s nuclear program.
Ehud Olmert has been pushed out of office because of a number of serious corruption charges against him. He is now in a caretaking role until a new government can be formed.
In this caretaking capacity he can suddenly reveal for the first time exactly what he thinks and feels in relation to the land of Israel and future peace agreements.
His true colours are shown clearly, or as the headline puts it “belated truths”.
He said 'We should withdraw from almost all of the territories, including in east Jerusalem and in the Golan Heights.” No other prime minister has ever said anything like this before, so publically in such clear terms. He also vowed to continue talks with the Palestinians as long as he remains in office.
So we now have an almost unique situation where the current leader of Israel is speaking openly of dividing the land AND Jerusalem, wanting to negotiate a settlement with the Palestinians, while corruption and scandal swirl around him. It seems a potent mix which may lead to events long foretold finally coming to pass….

Israel to press Russia not to sell air defences to Iran
Daily Telegraph, October 7, 2008
Ehud Olmert, on his final foreign trip as prime minister before a new coalition government is confirmed, flew to Moscow to urge Mr Medvedev not to sell weapons to "irresponsible elements".
It is feared Israel will see the proposed sale of a sophisticated version of the S-300 surface-to-air missile system as a reason to expedite plans for an attack on Iran.
"We will remind them again of matters that trouble us greatly," Mr Olmert said.
As East-West relations have deteriorated in the aftermath of Russia's brief war with Georgia in August, fears have mounted that Moscow could choose to goad Washington by selling Iran a version of the S-300.
Considered at least as sophisticated as the American Patriot, the S-300 can simultaneously track 100 different targets and is capable of shooting down aircraft over a range of over 90 miles and altitudes of up to 90,000 feet.
The establishment of so powerful a system would make it much harder to bomb Iran's atomic installations, leading some security analysts to predict that Israel could launch a pre-emptive attack if Tehran acquired the missiles.
Where does Ehud Olmert decide to make his final foreign trip before standing down as prime minster of Israel? To Russia! to meet the Russian president Mr Medvedev.
If Russia were to supply these missiles to Iran it would “be a game-changer in military thinking for tackling Iran,” as one Pentagon official put it.
What we can see here is how accurate the Bible is. In Ezekiel 38 we read that Persia (modern day Iran) is going to invade Israel with Russia. We also read that Russia will act as a “guard” to those nations that invade with it. A guard can be a prison guard or someone who protects. We see Russia protecting Iran - the invasion will also happen.
Jewish-Arab riots shock Israeli city
BBConline, October 10, 2008
Israeli forces have quelled a third round of clashes between Jews and Arabs in the northern city of Acre, first ignited after an Israeli Arab man drove into a Jewish neighbourhood on Yom Kippur on Wednesday.
No one has been killed or seriously injured but riot squads have used water cannon and tear gas to break up the violence, the worst in this mixed, northern coastal town in years. About 100 cars and 40 shops have been heavily damaged in the fighting, with at least three people injured and more than a dozen arrests.
About 700 police have been brought into Acre to maintain calm while police in other parts of the country are also out in force, for fear clashes will spread ahead of the Jewish Sabbath.
"We are planning ahead for the scenario of, God forbid, violence spreading to other places. I call on leaders, both in the Jewish community and Arab community, to act sensibly," the Israeli interior minister, Avi Dichter, said.
The Israeli foreign minister Tzipi Livni, who is expected to succeed Prime Minister Ehud Olmert after winning the ruling Kadima party primary last month, also visited Acre and called for calm.
The Jews are descendants of Abraham’s son Isaac. The Arabs are descendants of Abraham’s son Ishmael. With Ishmael being the son of a slave woman (Genesis 16:1-16) and Isaac being the promised son who would inherit the promises to Abraham (Genesis 21:1-3), animosity between the two sons was almost inevitable.
In fact an angel even prophesied to Hagar that Ishmael would “live in hostility toward all his brothers” (Genesis 16:11-12).
This hostility as prophesied continues to this day. It will be ended when Christ returns.
Iranian Air force exercise simulates attack on Israel
Debkafile, October 15, 2008
DEBKAfile’s military sources report that the drill beginning Thursday, Oct. 16 in northern Iran, is Tehran’s rejoinder to Israel’s big aerial manoeuvre last June.
Then, more than 100 Israeli fighter-bombers went through their paces over the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas, roughly the same distance from Israel as Iran.
Tehran’s media claim the exercise will test its air force’s ability to fly to Israel and back without refuelling.
The exercise will also test the US-made FBX-T band anti-missile radar system delivered in September and installed at the IAF Nevatim air base in the Negev. The Iranians say they will be practicing their “state-of-the-art military equipment and flight tactics,” meaning an attempt to jam US and Israeli electronics and radar.
According to Iranian media, the entire range of Iran's fighter fleet will take part, including US-made F-4, F-5, F-7 and F-14 fighters and domestic Saegheh fighters. Mid-air refuelling will be provided by Boeing 707 aerial tankers.
We are watching the nations practising for the final war. Israel last year had a dry run in simulating a massive attack on Iran. This week Iran has begun a dry run in simulating a massive attack on Israel.
These so called “war games” are not games at all. They are needed to prepare for war.
It helps military planners increase their understanding and knowledge and test their equipment. It also enables them to see how their enemy reacts. Finally it increases the tensions and the nations take another step forward towards conflict.
This is precisely what God says will happen. The verse below speaks of Gentile nations preparing for war. The preparation will soon lead to action.
Israeli youth seek Judaism
Israel National News, October 12, 2008
A powerful trend has been noted at the Beit El Yeshiva website: Dozens of teenagers tenaciously overcoming family and other obstacles to become religiously observant.
The decade-old Beit El Yeshiva website provides thousands of Torah classes in various formats by leading rabbis, and features a popular "Ask the Rabbi" section. Among the 100,000 monthly visitors are those who are not religiously observant, but who want to learn more about Judaism.
In recent months, the website administrators say, "the wave of requests for spiritual direction - particularly from young readers who have not been formally exposed to Judaism - has been increasingly strong. We sense an undercurrent of a tremendous process of awakening and desire to return to authentic Judaism among young people"
There is an incredible number of Jews that do not believe in God at all. Israel has become a mainly secular nation. HOWEVER, this is beginning to change.
One example is given above. Another example is an organisation called Aish HaTorah ("Fire of the Torah"). Aish HaTorah is an Orthodox organization and yeshiva (Torah study). The organization's stated mission is "providing opportunities for Jews of all backgrounds to discover their heritage." Its headquarters are in Jerusalem. A key Aish HaTorah program is the Discovery Seminar. It explores the authenticity of Judaism and its relevance to modern times. It attempts to answer questions such as, "Why Be Jewish?" "Does God Exist?" and "Is Torah True?“ More than 100,000 people (mainly Jews) worldwide have attended the seminars! They are very similar in approach to the seminars we run as Christadelphians. The Bible speaks of a time BEFORE Christ returns when SOME Jews do look back and believe again. It is the work of Elijah.
Israel considers Saudi plan for peace with Arab world
Daily Telegraph, October 20, 2008
Israeli leaders are seriously considering a dormant Saudi plan offering comprehensive peace between Israel and the Arab world in exchange for lands captured during the 1967 war.
Defence Minister Ehud Barak said it may be time to pursue an overall peace deal for the region since individual negotiations with Syria and the Palestinians had made little progress. Mr Barak said he has discussed the Saudi plan with Prime Minister-designate Tzipi Livni, who is in the process of forming a new Israeli government, and that Israel was considering a response.
Saudi Arabia first proposed the peace initiative in 2002, offering pan-Arab recognition of Israel in exchange for Israel's withdrawal from the West Bank, Gaza Strip, east Jerusalem and the Golan Heights..
Behind the scenes Jerusalem is being discussed in Israeli political circles. Why?
Well when Ehud Olmert stood down as Israel’s prime minister a few weeks ago his successor Tzipi Livni had just a few weeks to form a new government.
Israel’s government is complex. It means that no one party can really ever rule on their own. Ms Livni has to form a coalition government with smaller political parties.
Some of these parties are religious as you would expect in Israel. One of the larger religious parties is called Shas. It announced this week it would not join her coalition because Ms Livni refused to rule out talks with the Palestinians concerning the future of the Jerusalem. Shas chairman Eli Yishai this week, "A year ago, the decision was made in Shas that if [the division of] Jerusalem is discussed, it would withdraw from the government. Even more so, it will not join [a government] without a commitment not to negotiate over Jerusalem. Jerusalem is not for sale.” Jerusalem is on the agenda!
Blair urges Obama to sort out Middle East
Daily Telegraph, November 10, 2008
Tony Blair led public pleas yesterday for Barack Obama, the incoming US president, to take a strong role in the Middle East peace process as soon as he enters office in January. Mr Blair and other mediators between Israel and the Palestinians were attending a summit at Sharm el-Sheikh.
The former British prime minister revealed that he had spoken ‘regularly’ with Mr Obama in the past three months about the peace efforts.
Mr Blair, the envoy of the Quartet (the European Union, Russia, the US and the United Nations) to the Middle East, urged Mr Obama’s new administration to make peace talks a top priority as officials revealed a follow-up summit is set to take place in Moscow in spring.
Early indications from the Obama camp are that the administration intends to make a lasting peace settlement one of its top priorities.
The last two American presidents also made a peace settlement between Israel and the Palestinians a top priority as well. They both failed. President Clinton devoted much of his presidency to trying to negotiate a deal that foundered when Yasser Arafat, the PLO leader, refused to sign the final draft negotiated at Camp David. Mr Bush was determined not to suffer a similar fate and established a “roadmap for peace”. This roadmap was supposed to bring peace in 2004/5! Following a peace conference in November 2007 a final date for a final peace deal was set for the end of President Bush’s term in office. The collapse of Ehud Barak’s government because of corruption allegations have prevented this happening. The next summit is to be held in Moscow!
The only leader that will ever bring true peace to Israel and the world - is Jesus Christ.
Iran tests missile, Israel in easy reach
Associated Press, November 12, 2008
Iran said it successfully test-fired a new generation of long range surface-to-surface missile on Wednesday — one that could easily strike Israel and as far away as southeastern Europe with greater precision than earlier models.
The Sajjil is a solid fuel high-speed missile with a range of about 1,200 miles, Defence Minister Mostafa Mohammed Najjar said on state television.
Solid-fuel missiles are more accurate than the liquid fuel missiles of similar range currently possessed by Iran. The country has had a solid-fuel missile with a shorter range — the Fateh, able to fly 120 miles — for several years.
The defence minister, quoted by Iran state television, said the two-stage missile with two solid-fuel engines has "an extraordinary high capability" but gave no further details. He did not say whether it was capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.
With its range, the missile could easily strike Iran's arch-foe Israel and go as far as southeastern Europe.
The ancient Medes brought the empire of Babylon to an end in about 538BC.
One encyclopaedia says “The Medes were an Iranian people of Aryan origin who lived in the western and north-western portion of present-day Iran. During the 8th century BC they were dominated by the nomadic group of the Scythians.”
The Bible speaks of a latter day invasion of the area of Babylon (Isaiah 13) and at the same time the spirit of the Medes is raised up. The verse below could also have a latter day fulfilment. Here we have the Medes (Iranians) making “bright arrows”. A bright arrow could well refer to modern day missiles. These Medes are “raised up”. See also Isaiah 13:17. These Iranians then bring great destruction to Babylon (modern day Iraq).
Iran at some point may well bring great destruction on Iraq and the US troops there.
Obama and the Jews
Jerusalem Post (Special Report), February 24, 2008
With all due deference to the Obama celebrity supporters like Steven Spielberg and George Soros, can Jews here in Israel and in America and other friends of Israel risk a vote for Obama in November? A quick look at the facts should switch on a big red light in most peoples' minds.
First and foremost among the considerations that should trouble friends of Israel is the foreign policy team Obama has selected to advise him. The composition of a candidate's advisory panel is usually a very good indicator of where the candidate will come out on the issues if elected. The Obama team is headed by the following people.
Zbigniew Brzezinski, (National Security Adviser). Brzezinski has been disseminating vitriol about Israel for three decades and recently publicly defended the Walt-Mearsheimer study which concluded that US policy towards Israel was the result of Jewish pressure and inconsistent with American interests.
Robert O. Malley, President Clinton's special advisor on Arab-Israeli affairs, is an unabashed advocate for the Palestinians.
In recent days the foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Likud leader Binyamin Netanyahu have both expressed reservations over Obama and his potential stance with Israel’s enemies eg Iran. So will he be cooler towards Israel? The Jerusalem Post said this week, “Whatever the Obama administration's position on Israel may be, it will not be more supportive of the country than the Bush administration has been.”
The Bible states that America will still be on the side of Israel when Russia invades. HOWEVER, quite possibly NOT to the extent they have been in the past. Why? Well it appears that when Russia invades Israel, America just looks on – it is not actively involved in defending Israel. This would indicate a more luke warm approach to Israel.
There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.
Rice says Mid-East deal unlikely
BBConline, November 6, 2008
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has appeared to concede that a Middle East peace deal will not be reached by the end of the year.
Ms Rice, on her 22nd visit to the region, said however that there was a "firm foundation" for an agreement between the Israelis and Palestinians.
She will meet leaders from both sides before moving on to Jordan and Egypt.
US President George W Bush said a year ago that he wanted a peace deal signed before he left office in January 2009.
"Obviously Israel is in the middle of elections and that is a constraint on the ability of any government to conclude what is the core conflict for Israel and the Palestinians," Ms Rice said upon her arrival in Tel Aviv.
"I think that whatever happens by the end of the year, you've got a firm foundation for quickly moving forward to a conclusion," she said.
Peace between Israel and the Palestinians remains as elusive as ever.
Despite the talks that began in Annapolis, in November 2007, few tangible results have been achieved. All talks are now expected to be placed on hold for at least several months during the US transition from Bush to Obama administrations.
Israel is also in transition as new elections are to be held 10 February 2009.
It is a void of leadership therefore in both America and Israel and one that others could exploit. In fact this week more than 35 missiles have been fired against all the Israeli towns and villages within range of Gaza since early Wednesday, Nov. 5.
Obama has said he wants to concentrate on the economy. He may be forced (as his predecessor was) to concentrate on the Middle East. 9/11 came just months after Bush was elected. Russia’s actions this week show the end is near.
Tehran is Convinced an attack is imminent
Debkafile, November 28, 2008
Iran's rulers have convinced themselves that the United States or/and Israel are bound to attack their nuclear installations and Revolutionary Guards bases in the interim period before Obama is sworn in as president on January 21.
They strongly believe in a conspiracy between George W. Bush and his successor to bring this about and are reading omens of war in every move made by Washington.
According to a senior Iranian source visiting Abu Dhabi to clue its rulers on the thinking in Tehran, the Iranians seized on the rumour that Obama intended asking Robert Gates to stay on as defence secretary - even before it was confirmed – as evidence that US leaders were making ready for armed conflict with Iran and were accordingly not changing horses in mid-preparation.
Iran's strategists also take Hillary Clinton's nomination as secretary of state and the possible appointment of Marine General James Jones as Obama's national security adviser to prove that the future president has opted for military action. This team is seen in Tehran as more inclined to support a war option than the Bush White House.
Iran believes Obama will fall flat on economy and resort to war
Iran (ancient Medes) are being stirred up. They know time is running out. At the end of the day America and Israel will never allow Iran to produce a nuclear weapon.
Iran's nuclear chief announced on Wednesday that Iran now has more than 5,000 centrifuges operating at its uranium enrichment plant, flatly defying UN resolutions.
UN nuclear watchdog reported last week that Tehran had stocked enough enriched uranium to make its first A-Bomb, while US analysts said that they expect the Iranians to be able to make three bombs by the end of 2009.
War draws near. At some point conflict will occur between Iran and its foes.
UN to mourn 60 years of Israel's existence
The Palestinian flag next to the UN flag. No flag of Israel! Photo from this weeks meeting.
EyeontheUN, November 24, 2008
This Monday, November 24th, the UN will commemorate its annual International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People with a film depicting Jews as Nazi-equivalents and a public exhibit mourning the sixty years of Israel's existence.
Monday's observance marks November 29, 1947 - the day that the UN voted to establish a Jewish and an Arab state in Palestine - a decision accepted by the Jews and rejected by the Arabs. This year's observance is being held a week early due to scheduling conflicts.
The President of the UN General Assembly has launched an unprecedented attack on a UN member state from the Assembly podium. Going beyond even existing UN resolutions, Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann of Nicaragua accused Israel of apartheid and called for "a campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions" against it. Reminiscent of a classic antisemitic slur, Brockmann (himself a Roman Catholic priest and one-time official of the World Council of Churches) also claimed our Palestinian "brothers and sisters are being crucified" by Israel. His remarks were made on November 24, 2008
Every year on the 29th November the UN has an International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people. Its real agenda is to delegitimize the birth - and the perseverance - of the state of Israel.
The UN is obsessed by Israel. Out of the 10 emergency special sessions ever called by the UN General Assembly, six have been about Israel. 18 resolutions have been made about the Israeli Palestinian conflict in the last 18 months all of which are one-sided or blatantly anti-Israel.
It may be that the UN will provide a means of formalising the final attack against Israel, in which case “all nations” would be represented by the UN.
Prospect of Israeli strike on Iran more likely
Israel News, November 21, 2008
Intelligence sources have told the London-based The Times newspaper that the prospect of Israel taking pre-emptive military action to knock out Iran’s nuclear facilities appears to have become significantly more likely in recent weeks.
A report published this week by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) points to the possibility that Tehran has already obtained enough enriched uranium to make one atomic bomb.
The Jerusalem Post also commented this week on the article in The Times newspaper.
It does appear that the chances of a pre emptive strike by Israel on Iran has increased.
The Times also reported that President Bush is to hold White House talks with the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Monday after publication of a nuclear watchdog’s report this week showing that Iran may have stockpiled enough enriched uranium to make a nuclear bomb.
The timing of the talks, between two lame duck leaders with only weeks to go before they leave office, is intriguing. Israel has stated repeatedly that it would be unacceptable for an Iranian regime to acquire nuclear weapons. Although Tehran insists that its uranium enrichment programme is for peaceful purposes, President Ahmadinejad has vowed to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.
We cannot say for certain if Israel will attack Iran as the Bible does not mention this.
We can say that Iran will bring great destruction to Iraq. Many ancient prophecies speak of a cataclysmic end for the literal land of Babylon (modern Iraq). See Isaiah 13.
Iran has threatened to bring such destruction on Iraq if it is attacked by either Israel or America. Therefore it is possible Iran will be provoked to do so at some point.
Barack Obama discussed these very issues with EU leaders at a recent meeting.

UK hopeful of Middle East change
BBConline, November 19, 2008
Britain's foreign secretary has said he hopes the coming year will be an opportunity for global change which will benefit the troubled Middle East.
David Miliband, who has been in Israel, the occupied West Bank and Syria, was speaking after meeting Lebanese President Michel Suleiman in Beirut.
He cited the new US administration and scheduled elections in Israel, Iran and Lebanon as potential agents of change.
He said each country must think how it will contribute to peace and stability.
"I think 2009 is going to be a very important year," Mr Miliband told reporters after meeting with Lebanese President Michel Suleiman.
"It is the year of change globally because there is a new American president, there will be a new Israeli government, there will be elections in Lebanon and.... in Iran as well."
Britain is hopeful that with a change in leadership in America and Israel that peace is more likely in the Middle East.
There is no doubt at all the Britain is heading towards judgement for the way it has turned its back on the Jews. See Isaiah 2:12-16 (Tarshish = Britain).
This week we have seen Britain meeting with Syria and siding with Israel’s greatest foe. We have seen Israel being urged by Britain to do nothing about the constant barrage of rockets fired at them. We have seen Britain begin to penalise Israel for exporting food and beauty products out of the West Bank. Click here for full report.
Israel is infuriated by these UK interventions – especially the last one. Israel sees it as an attempt by Britain to force its hand on the settlement issue.
Britain has become a harlot. Despite “hearing the word of the LORD”, she (like ancient Tyre) has turned against the Jews. God will turn against her.
(Isaiah 23:15 & 17)
Israel willing to go it alone on Iran attack
Daily Telegraph, December 4, 2008
Israel is drawing up plans for an attack on Iran's nuclear infrastructure that does not require America's support, it has been claimed. Defence sources told the Jerusalem Post they were considering going it alone in a strike on Iran. Conventional military thinking states that Israel would need America's backing if only to allow Israeli warplanes to reach Iran by overflying Iraq, where the airspace is controlled by the United States Air Force.
But the paper said Israeli planners had come up with ideas that did not require support from the United States.
This comes after Ehud Olmert, the outgoing Israeli prime minister, failed to persuade President George W Bush to support an Israeli air attack in the last few months of his presidency.
It is always better to co-ordinate,'' a source, described by the Jerusalem Post as a top Defence Ministry official, said. "But we are also preparing options that do not include co-ordination.''
Almost every week for the past month there have been reports that an attack on Iran is increasingly likely by Israel – with or without American blessing.
Israeli officials have said it would be difficult, but not impossible, to launch a strike against Iran without clear support from America. One option would be to use Israeli submarines firing cruise missiles from off the Iranian coast in the Gulf. Another might be to use Israel's close links with Turkey to persuade Ankara to allow Israeli attack aircraft, air refuelling jets and pilot rescue helicopters to use Turkish airstrips.
We may well see latter day fighting against “the prince of Persia”.
(Daniel 10:14 & 20 NIV)
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Tyre. London = latter day Tyre
Brown: Israel must tackle settlers
Daily Telegraph, December 16, 2008
Israel must tackle illegal settlements in the West Bank in order to achieve a durable Middle East peace settlement, Gordon Brown has said. During talks at Downing Street with Ehud Olmert, the Israeli prime minister, Mr Brown also urged his counterpart to lift constraints on the Palestinian economy.
Israel is restricting cash shipments to Gaza banks in a bid to weaken the hard-line ruling Hamas party. The World Bank and International Monetary Fund have both called for the blockade to end. During their talks, the prime minister stressed his view that Palestine could not become a viable state without a strong economy, which would involve the ability to attract private investment.
After their discussion, his official spokesman said: "The meeting was an opportunity to discuss prospects for peace in the Middle East. Both men are strongly committed to making progress.
Ancient Tyre was the capital of Phoenicia. It was a trading city that setup colonies around the Mediterranean about 600BC. Tyre to begin with was very pro Israel. Hiram king of Tyre “loved” David and Solomon. However as the years went by Tyre became very rich and proud and eventually looked on Israel as a way of making money and gloated when Assyria attacked. They saw Israel’s demise as a way of making more money as they could sell Jews as slaves. Ancient Tyre we are told passed over to Britain. The UK has followed a very similar pattern to ancient Tyre. Very pro Jewish to start with – even helping to establish the state of Israel. But now having grown rich and proud they turn against Israel encouraging Israel to give up land given to them by God.
Hamas declares Israel truce over
BBConline, December 19, 2008
The Islamist militant group Hamas says it has ended its six-month ceasefire with Israel in the Gaza Strip.
As the ceasefire expired at 0400 GMT, Hamas issued a statement blaming Israel which had not "respected" the truce.
Israel's foreign ministry spokesman said the militants, who control Gaza, "had chosen violence over truth".
The Egyptian-brokered deal began on 19 June but has been tested regularly by Palestinian rocket attacks on Israel and Israeli operations in Gaza.
Hours after the announcement, Palestinian television carried pictures of militants conducting exercises.
We have reported before that both Israel and America have “lame duck” leaders at the moment. Ehud Olmert has resigned due to corruption scandals but remains in office until new elections are held in February next year. Meanwhile President Bush is weakened due to the fact only a month remains of his presidency and the world now looks to Barack Obama.
It comes therefore as little surprise that Hamas announces now that the ceasefire with Israel is over. Announcing the end of the truce on its website, Hamas said: "The ceasefire is over and there won't be a renewal because the Zionist enemy has not respected its conditions.“ Israel's Haaretz newspaper reported that the Israeli military had cancelled weekend leave for all troops stationed near the Gaza Strip and instructed units to prepare for mobilisation.
The verse below speaks of the Philistines (modern day Palestinians) wanting to destroy Israel. These words are being fulfilled in front of our eyes.
Olmert: Peace with Syria is feasible
Jerusalem Post, December 18, 2008
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who announced suddenly that he will go to Turkey for talks on Monday, said Thursday evening that "a peace treaty between Israel and Syria is feasible" and would result in "significant advantages" for Israel. "A peace treaty would lower the possibility of war, break the strategic ties between Damascus and Teheran, lead to the expulsion of the Islamic Jihad and Hamas headquarters from Syria, and would stop the cash flow to Hezbollah," Olmert told a conference of the Institute for National Security Studies at Tel Aviv University.
"Syria does not necessarily want to be part of the axis of evil," he said. "Syria wants to reconnect with the West and the United States. "Removing Syria from the axis of evil is an Israeli interest."
The prime minister said that although he could not guarantee the success of a peace process with Damascus, it was important to try. "How will we know if we don't try? How can we try if we are not prepared to take any risks?" he said.
Since resigning in September, Olmert has been busy! He has travelled to Russia, the US and Britain. He now announces he is going to Turkey to for peace talks with Syria.
They may be talking about peace but destruction is more likely. Damascus let it be known Friday. Dec. 19, that acceptance in advance of its "borders document" was the pre-condition for direct peace talks. This six-point document covers Israel's withdrawal -not only from the Golan but also from another slice of territory, the northeastern bank of the Sea of Galilee and Hamat Gader region, which is part of pre-1967 Israel.
When they SAY (speak about, advise, mention) peace we know destruction is near.

Israel cancels army leave on northern border
Middle East Newsline, December 26, 2008
Just hours after The Media Line exclusively reported on Israel’s military heading into a heightened state of alert on the country’s border with Lebanon, Beirut said it discovered rockets ready to be fired towards Israel. The Lebanese army said it found eight Katyushas fitted with timers, which would have been launched on Friday. The rockets were located close to the border in an area in which only the Lebanese army is permitted to carry weapons, according to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. The Lebanese army was aided by the U.N.’s UNIFIL force in dismantling the devices. It is not clear who was behind the planned strike. Meanwhile TML has learned the Israeli army has cancelled leave for many soldiers currently posted to the northern border. Jerusalem fears the Lebanese-based Hezbollah may launch an attack while Israel’s military focus is on the distant Gaza Strip and its battle against Hamas.
The previous slide noted the similarity of the dates of the wars between India and Pakistan and Israel and the surrounding Arab nations. The headline on the previous slide was “Pakistan sends 20,000 troops to India’s border”. The same day we have a headline “Israel cancels army leave on northern border”. It appears Hezbollah are gearing up for an attack on Israel soon while Israel’s attention is diverted towards Gaza
As I am typing this on Saturday morning there are reports coming in of a large Israeli air strike on Gaza using F-16 bombers. The BBC reports that scores of people have been killed. In recent days Hamas has fired hundreds of rockets into Israel. They have not killed anyone but have caused damage to houses and infrastructure. Many have been treated for shock. Israel threatened to retaliate. We see conflict drawing near.
Red Sea water will bring Dead Sea back to life
Daily Telegraph, December 25, 2008
The Dead Sea could be saved from drying up under a groundbreaking plan to flood millions of gallons of seawater in from the Red Sea more than 110 miles away.
Funding has been secured for a feasibility study into the ambitious and controversial scheme to reverse falling water levels.
The scheme involves a 110-mile long canal, dubbed 'Red To Dead', that would channel roughly five million tonnes of seawater each day into the Dead Sea.
While schemes on a similar scale have been tried before for fresh water, this is by far the most ambitious seawater canalisation programme ever envisaged.
The new water is needed to avoid the complete disappearance of the Dead Sea, an event the World Bank warns would represent "an environmental calamity".
Overuse by farmers of water from the Jordan River, the only major influx into the Dead Sea, and climate change mean the level of the Dead Sea plunges by about three feet every year. Its surface area has shrunk by a third to just 240 square miles in the last forty years and vast areas of foreshore have been exposed, pockmarked with dangerous sink holes.
The Dead Sea is the world's saltiest body of water, found at the lowest point on the Earth's surface. It is said that it will disappear in 50 years' time unless more water is pumped into it. It is the area where Sodom and Gomorrah were probably situated and subsequently destroyed. It has become symbolic of mankind and sin and death.
It is interesting to note that even the little water there is drying up and though futile efforts will be made to save it we know that only the coming of our Lord Jesus will restore it. For it is only Jesus who can save man from his sin and make him alive again. We long for the time when the Dead Sea shall be restored to a living sea.
Operation 'Cast Lead' Begins
A traditional wooden dreidel
Israel National News, December 27, 2008
The IDF began its long-awaited attack on Hamas-controlled Gaza at 11:30 AM Saturday, and according to initial reports managed to catch Hamas off-guard, after deliberately sending soldiers home on furloughs Thursday to create the impression that a military strike was not imminent.
The operation is codenamed "Cast Lead" – a phrase taken from a well known Hanukkah song which refers to "cast-lead dreidels."
It is worth considering the codename that Israel has given the operation to attack Gaza. It has been called operation “Cast Lead”. Lead as in the metal lead. Why this name?
Well the military attack on Gaza began during the festival of Hanukkah. Hanukkah celebrates the time when the Jewish Temple was rededicated to God following the desecration of it by Antiochus Epiphanes. Jewish legend has it that a miracle occurred during the rededication of the temple. They only had enough oil to light the 7 branch candlestick (the menorah) for 1 day and yet it burned continually for 8 days.
During the festival of Hanukkah which celebrates this, Jews eat special food, listen to Hanukkah music and play games. One of the games is with a dreidel, a 4 sided spinning top. Each side of the dreidel bears a letter of the Hebrew alphabet: נ (Nun), ג (Gimel), ה (Hei), ש (Shin), which together form the acronym for "נס גדול היה שם" (Nes Gadol Haya Sham – "a great miracle happened there"). There is a famous Hanukkah song that sings of a dreidel CAST of LEAD. This is what the operation was named after. Perhaps those who came up with this operational name are expecting “a great miracle to happen there”. i.e. they win the war against Hamas. But the dreidel is really a gambling game. Israel are gambling that this attack on Gaza will bring them victory. We know however that they should not gamble but turn to God. HE brings the victory.
225 dead in biggest Israeli raid in 40 yearsSignals new phase in conflict
Sunday Telegraph, December 28, 2008
A year of information-gathering by Military Intelligence and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) paved the way Saturday for Operation Cast Lead.
At 11:30 a.m., more than 50 fighter jets and attack helicopters swept into Gazan airspace and dropped more than 100 bombs on 50 targets. The planes reported "alpha hits," IAF lingo for direct hits on the targets, which included Hamas bases, training camps, headquarters and offices. Thirty minutes later, a second wave of 60 jets and helicopters struck at 60 targets, including underground Kassam launchers - placed inside bunkers and missile silos - that had been fitted with timers.
Their locations were discovered in an intensive intelligence operation. The goal: to strike at Hamas's ability to fire rockets into Israel.
More than 170 targets were hit by IAF aircraft throughout the day. Over 225 Gazans were killed and over 780 were wounded, according to Palestinian sources.
So why now? Well there are a number of reasons. Firstly Hamas ended its ceasefire last week and fired hundreds of rockets at Israel in just a few days. This appears to be the final straw with Israel. Secondly we have the unusual political situation in both America and Israel. Back on the 6th November 2008 I wrote in the WWW, “All talks are now expected to be placed on hold for at least several months during the US transition from Bush to Obama administrations. Israel is also in transition as new elections are to be held 10 February 2009. It is a void of leadership therefore in both America and Israel and one that others could exploit.” We now see the truth in this. There IS a void that Hamas exploited by calling off its ceasefire. Israel was then able to retaliate without censure from America. A “perfect storm” has been created – by God himself.
Israel set to begin ground war against Hamas in Gaza
The Times, January 2, 2009
Israel is poised to launch a major ground offensive into Gaza tonight after allowing hundreds of foreigners living in the devastated territory to evacuate.
After a week of air strikes that have killed at least 420 Palestinians and left scores of buildings in rubble, the Israeli army was set to fling hundreds of troops and tanks into a blitz to stamp out Hamas’s military wing, The Times understands.
Despite the looming onslaught, more Hamas rockets which have so far killed four Israelis were fired into southern Israel today.
The Islamist group vowed that its attacks, which have lasted for years and which finally provoked the massive Israeli campaign, would not stop.
A high-level European delegation is due in the region at the weekend, as were Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president, and Tony Blair, the international community’s envoy to the Middle East.
Israel has called up 6,500 reservists this week in preparation for a ground assault on the Gaza Strip. It does seem that an invasion of Gaza is likely according to Debkafile.
They say that high-ranking military sources believe that this decision is a historic one: Without a decisive ground assault on Hamas, a million citizens of the South will be entitled to feel that for the first time in 60 years, the state has abdicated its responsibility for their safety. Hamas will take it that Israel has lost its nerve.
It also appears from a statement made by George Bush that America has given its backing to Israel invading Gaza. He blamed Hamas entirely for the current situation.
So what happens next? Well God makes clear that one day the iniquity of Israel will finally be judged. They think they can win but God will bring judgement on his people.
Syria pulls out of peace talks after Gaza airstrikes
Ma’an News Agency, December 29, 2008
Syria has ended its indirect peace negotiations with Israel in light of the latter’s ongoing assaults on the Gaza Strip.
A Syrian official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak with the media, said that “Israel’s aggression closes all the doors” to a peace settlement in the Middle East.
Israel and Syria has been negotiating indirectly in Turkey since May. The two sides had met as many as four times, news accounts suggested.
Last Monday, Syrian President Bashar Assad said he believed direct peace talks with Israel were possible.
One week later, over 310 Palestinians are dead, along with hopes for a future agreement between Israel and its northern Arab neighbour.
Ma’an News Agency is in fact a Palestinian news channel, however this has also been quoted in Reuters under the headline “Conflict puts the brakes on Syria-Israel peace”.
The big question is this. Have we had the talk of peace and safety or is it still to come?
What about Ezekiel 38 which says Israel must be dwelling confidently and without walls? Is this still in the future or has it happened? We cannot be dogmatic either way but it is possible to see both aspects as already fulfilled. This would mean that the final conflict is a more likely the outcome than future peace agreements. Why do I say this?
Paul does NOT say when the IS peace and safety, he says when they shall SAY peace and safety. The word SAY means advise / talk about. Since Annapolis in 2007, people have been talking about peace. In terms of Ezekiel 38 and the dwelling without walls in confidence- click here to download an article. It shows this too may have happened.
Review of 2008
Weekly World Watch, December 30, 2008
2008 has been a remarkable year.
It began with a visit by George Bush to Israel. It was his first and only visit to Israel as President of the United States. He came with a message of peace.
“We see new opportunities for peace in the Holy Land and the region,” he said on January 9th 2008. Just a month before he had convened 40 nations in Annapolis to discuss peace between Israel and the Palestinians. They discussed the dividing of God’s land, his people and his Holy city – Jerusalem.
It was not until November 6th 2008 that Condoleezza Rice after her 22nd visit to the region declared that Middle East peace would NOT be achieved by the end of the year.
And so we end 2008, not with the peace promised by President Bush, but with WAR.
Iran remains extremely hostile to Israel and intent on acquiring nuclear weapons.
We have seen Russia fight a short but very brutal war with Georgia. We have also seen Russia become increasingly aggressive and few would doubt we live in a new Cold War situation. When Barack Obama was elected in November Russia welcomed him with the deployment of nuclear missiles on NATO’s border for the first time since the Cold War! It was “a glacial welcome to the world stage”, the Telegraph reported.
Perhaps one of the biggest news stories has been the financial crisis - the credit crunch. No nation is unaffected by this. We see the perplexity of the governments of the world. We can see how the riches of man are built on sand.
I have produced a 50 minute powerpoint presentation on these things as a review of 2008. It needs to be downloaded. Full instructions of how to download are in the email sent with this weeks WWW.
Let us pray 2009 will see the return of our dear Lord Jesus and our salvation.
