  1. ACTIVATED CARBON Granular Activated Carbon may be used for a variety of water treatment applications requiring the reduction of chlorine, tastes, and odours

  2. Problem Solution • Where the in-coming water is chlorinated, or where there is the possibility of agricultural chemical spray drift, or an unacceptable “organic” smell of rotting vegetation in a rain water or surface water supply, we have an extremely effective solution to the problem. • We now import a range of cartridges that are filled with Activated Carbon and are specifically designed to dramatically reduce any unpleasant, taste/odour and dissolved organic chemicals from water.

  3. Refillable Carbon Cartidges • Traditionally, activated carbon cartridges with capacity to treat all the in-coming water to a home have been too expensive for many people to consider, despite their aversion to unpalatable or dangerously contaminated water. • To overcome this, we have refillable cartridges to dramatically reduce the operating costs. Being refillable, they are not adding to the waste disposal and landfill problem • Easily opened to remove the spent carbon, the housing can be rinsed, refilled with new carbon media, and then replaced into the housing – quickly and easily. • Available in a range of sizes and extremely economical to maintain, these refillable carbon cartridges are very popular with many perople. • We supply the carbon media in 4Litre containers at whatever intervals you request to ensure a continuous supply of clean, fresh water with no objectionable taste or odour characteristics.

  4. 1190/1190FP In-Out Head • The 1190FP 1” In-Out Head is designed for upflow. • Water upflow prevents channeling and allows greater water - to - media exposure. • The removable fill port cap allows easy access to the media bed for periodic replacement. The Head includes a removable upper distributor basket providing access to the top of the riser pipe, allowing water to be drained from the tank when replacing media. The 1190FP includes a utility wrench to be used with the removable cap.

  5. Granular activated carbon is designed for reduction of tastes, odours, and dissolved organic chemicals from municipal and industrial water supplies. Manufactured from select grades of bituminous coal to produce a high density, durable granular product capable of withstanding the abrasion and dynamics associated with repeated hydraulic transport, backwashing and mechanical handling. Activation is carefully controlled to produce exceptionally high internal surface area with optimum pore size for the absorption of a broad range of high and low molecular weight organic contaminanats. One of the most common applications for Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) is the reduction of the undisirable tastes and odours present in many chlorinated water supplies. GAC has been successful for many years in the reduction of free chlorine from water supplies. The end product is clean, fresh water with no objectionable taste or odour characteristics To obtain maximum efficiency of the activate carbon in the absorption process, it is desirable to have the greatest possible surface area in the smallest practical volume. This is necessary because the rate of absorption is proportional to the amount of surface area of the absorbing medium media. GAC has a surface are of 850 sq mt per gram. This results in high efficiency and greater system economy. GAC has an extremely high capacity but must be replaced when the filter bed loses the capacity for reduction of taste and odour. GAC may be used in either domestic or industrial applications using gravity flow or pressurized filter vessels. Granular Activated Carbon

  6. GAC is an outstanding material for applications requiring tastes, odour and dissolved organic chemical removal from water with suspended matter present. This product can be used for filtering waters having a wide range of pH levels. Large surface area results in an exceptionally high capacity and efficiency. Balanced pore structure gives a more efficient absorption range. GAC is very durable so losses due to attriction are kept to a minimum. GAC has a very high-carbon low ash content. Service rates of 5gpm/sq.ft. are practical for ordinary taste, odour and chlorine loads. GAC will impart a high ‘polish’ to the filtered water Water to be filtered should prferably be free of oil and suspended matter. The water to be filtered should be relatively free of iron and turbidity for maximum service life. Water pH range: wide range. Bed Depth: 26-30 in. Freeboard: 50% of bed depth (min) Service flow rate: 5 gpm/sq.ft. Backwash flow rate: 10-12 gpm/sq.ft. Backwash bed expansion: 30-40% of bed depth. Upon installation, backwash to remove carbon fines before placing unit into service. Advantages:Conditions
