  33. Tabernacle Prayer Process Part III

  34. The Sacrifices • Five basic offerings • Lev. 1 - BURNT • Lev. 2 - MEAT/MEAL • Lev. 3 - PEACE/FELLOWSHIP • Lev. 4 - SIN • Lev. 5:15 - TRESPASS

  35. Two Classes of Offerings • Reparation- Repair damaged relationship with God. • Consecration - Advance the life of the worshipper.

  36. Two Classes of Offerings • Reparation - Repaired damaged relationship with God. • SIN - personal/private/on my own land! • TRESPASS - involves sin damage to another! .

  37. Second Class of Offerings . • Consecration - Advanced the life of the worshipper. • BURNT • MEAT/MEAL/GRAIN • PEACE/FELLOWSHIP

  38. Amos and Sacrifice ... • 22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts. • 23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. • 24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. Amos 5 What offerings are missing?

  39. They are offering sacrifices of CONSECRATION …. • But they are ignoring offerings of REPARATION - Repentance and broknessness, contrition of heart … • CONSECRATION MEANS NOTHING! …Apart from genuine repentance and honest confession before God … • Consecration follows repentance ...

  40. Two Classes of Offerings • Reparation- Repair damaged relationship with God. ROMANS • SIN 1 - 8 • TRESPASS . 9 - 11 • Consecration - Advance the life of the worshipper. • BURNT 12:1 - 2 • MEAT/MEAL/GRAIN 12:3 - 8 • PEACE/FELLOWSHIP 12:9 - f

  41. Principle One • A Place of Death • Sacrifices call the death of three things … • Sin - the sin offering • Also, the trespass offering calls for restitution of wrongs associated with the life of sin. • Self - the burnt offering • An act of total consecration • Division - the peace/fellowship offering • Unity was the first thing disrupted by Lucifer’s sin, and reconciliation to God (vertical) and to man (horizontal) are represents a completion of work at the altar.

  42. Altar Progression • Deal with SIN Get right with God • HOLINESS OF HEART OUT OF REPENTANCE • Deal with SELFStop living for self • WHOLE-LIFE CONSECRATION FOCUSED ON LIFE MISSION & PURPOSE • Deal with RELATIONSHIPS … Get right with others • HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS RESULTING IN RECONCILIATION & FORGIVENESS - The Intrapersonal experience translated into interpersonal relationships

  43. Principle Two • Sacrifice Draws the Fire of God • Leviticus 9:24 And the fire of the Lord came out from before the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. When all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.

  44. Principle Three • Don’t Let the Fire Go Out on the Altar of Sacrifice • The fire on the altar was “to ever be burning” - it was never to go out. Leviticus 6:13 A fire shall always be burning on the altar, it shall never go out.

  45. Principle Four • Days Begin and End At the Altar • Every morning & evening demanded a new burnt offering as a sacrifice for the nation. Exodus 29:38 Now this is what you shall offer on the altar: two lambs of the first year, day by daycontinually. One lamb you shall offer in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight.
