These ventilators work very well in situations where patients are suffering from pneumonia or mass accidents. There are different types of parts and components associated with ICU ventilator. Typically, these machines consist of breathing circuit, control system, alarms and monitors. The advanced systems consist of special breathing circuits, heat and moisture exchangers, humidifiers and oxygen accumulators. These devices apply positive pressure so that gas is delivered to the lungs at normal breathing rate.
Power is supplied by an external power supply or by internal battery that is equivalent to that of a car battery. These ventilators are used as a long-term support in home, care facilities and emergency care. The Portable ICU Ventilator drive air into the breathing circuit using a motor driven turbine or a piston. In case of home-based portable ventilators, the oxygen is supplied to the patient from a tank where the oxygen is stored.
