  1. HOW TO ENSURE RELIABILITY OF A SYRINGE INFUSION PUMP

  2. A syringe infusion pump is a machine or a medical device that is used to deliver important fluids to the patient’s body in a controlled manner. It can be used to deliver fluids to the patient’s body in large quantity as well in small quantity. Sometimes, it is also used to deliver nutrients and medications such as hormones, insulin, pain relievers, chemotherapy drugs and many more. There are two types of syringe pumps based on their design. One is portable syringe pump that is compact and can be moved from one place to another. Similarly, another one is fixed syringe pump, that is generally not portable and has to be fixed near the patient’s bed. To ensure a reliable operation, the possible defects of the machine should be checked. In industry, there are a lot of syringe infusion pump manufacturers. Some of them make a near perfect device that is best suited for industry and some of them manufacture machines that have got various defects.

  3. Let us discuss the potential problems that occur in these syringe pumps. A lot of syringe pumps have got software defects. These pumps fail to activate alarms. Sometimes, a software problem can lead to over and under infusion which means that the amount of dosage may increase or become less due to software problem. Similarly, some syringe pumps have got graphical interface unit problem. These machines have unclear screens such that the instructions and information is not displayed properly. These can disturb the medical professionals and they may find it difficult to monitor the patient’s health progress. Some of the machines go through mechanical or electrical failures such as sparks or battery failure. These problems occur due to low maintenance and ageing of the machines.
