  1. A SHORT GUIDE ON SYRINGE INFUSION PUMP

  2. Syringe infusion pump is widely used in various sectors of the medical industry such as clinics, nursing homes, hospitals and other medical facilities. This pump is used for applications such as delivering fluids, medications and nutrients to patient’s body in a controlled amount. These devices are largely preferred in medical industries due to its ability to deliver medication in small as well as large volumes. Some infusion pumps are capable of delivering medication to the patients at automated intervals. There are different ways in which these infusion pumps are used. They are used intravenously, subcutaneously, through arteries, epidural etc. In intravenous method, the medications or nutrients are delivered to the patients directly through the vein. Intravenous technique is used for fluid replacement, blood transfusions and medication delivery. In subcutaneous system, medications or nutrients are delivered to the patient through subcutis region. Subcutis is a skin layer that exists between epidermis and dermis. Subcutaneous delivery is useful for insulin and vaccination transfers. In arterial method, a syringe infusion pump transfers fluid to the patient’s body through arteries. Arteries in human body are responsible for transferring blood from the heart to the rest of the body parts.

  3. In epidural method of infusion, drugs are injected to the patient’s body through the epidural part of the spinal cord. Only a small amount of fluid must be transferred through epidural part. To monitor the dosage perfectly, syringe infusion pumps are used as they have the capability to transfer fluid in a perfectly controlled manner. Infusion pumps have evolved the process of fluid transfer between patient’s body and the medication container. These pumps are required for many cases where proper administration of fluid transfer is required, because if done manually in such cases, then it can result in consequences.
