2. What would you do if you get a cut while cutting vegetables? Will you rush to the hospital? Absolutely, no. For such small injuries that can be treated ourselves, we need not to go the hospital. But, what if a person suddenly suffers a heart attack or a severe accident takes place? Under such medical emergencies, we need to provide quick and accurate treatment. If the right treatment is not provided on time there are chances to lose a life. Therefore to deal with such situations comes the need for basic first aid. 10

Having developed basic first aid skills we can take care of ourselves and people around us in a healthy and safe manner. It helps us to easily deal with injuries. 4. Cleaning and bandaging wounds Learnings under basic first aid When an injury occurs it first needs to be cleaned with clean cloth. Then blot dry it. Afterward, apply the antibiotic ointment in the appropriate quantity. Bleeding A serve accident or a major injury might lead to bleeding. Gently by putting some pressure on the wounded area apply a bandage or tie a cloth neatly. This will stop the bleeding. Under the basic first aid course, we learn to care and provide quick and correct treatment responsively. It also builds up our confidence to handle medical emergencies. 5. Nausea and vomiting Sprains These can occur due to overeating, sickness, sleepless nights, or food poisoning. But can be treated easily. A sprain occurs with a stretch or tears in the ligament. These can cause bruise marks, swelling, and pain. With careful stretching, these can be reduced. 15

6. Basic first aid courses These courses are designed for each and every one of us. They do not have any pre- requisite. These are designed and delivered by skilled, qualified, and experienced faculties. These also include lectures, practical demonstrations, and group discussions. On successful completion of all the requirements of basic first aid course candidates will receive certificates. The course duration is only one day. 22
