  1. Bypass surgery Coronary artery bypass surgery, also known as coronary artery bypass graft ( CABG ), is a surgical technique that restores blood flow to the heart by replacing a blocked artery. A bypass is done by attaching a healthy blood vessel from another part of the body (typically the leg, arm, or chest) to the arteries in the heart, allowing blood to bypass the blocked artery. It is used to treat atherosclerosis, a disease of the arteries in which the arterial walls thicken and constrict owing to the buildup of white blood cells, culminating in plaque build- up. Who needs heart bypass surgery? People who have coronary artery disease or blocked arteries for whatever cause are advised to undergo heart bypass surgery. However, not everyone is a candidate for the procedure. People with the following problems, for example, may create complications: Diabetes

  2. Emphysema Diabetic kidney disease Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Recovery time The patient is transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) shortly after surgery. A breathing tube is connected to the ventilator to assist them in breathing. The breathing tube is removed when you awaken after 2 to 4 hours and begin breathing on your own. After a few days in the ICU, the patient is transferred to the recovery room. The patient's hospital stay after being discharged from ICU is usually 3 to 5 days. The patient is then released.

  3. What is the cost of Coronary Bypass Surgery in India? In India, the average cost of Coronary Bypass Surgery is between Rs. 95,000 and Rs. 4,50,000.
