  2. INTRODUCTION Islamic studies is a broad umbrella term that encompasses a variety of fields of study. It widely refers to the study of Islam and its philosophy, as well as the various types of academic knowledge derived from Islamic religious teachings. These include the law, religious practices, Islamic culture, literature, and so on. Traditional Islamic religious studies such as Kalam (theology) and Fiqh (jurisprudence), as well as the interpretation of Sharia laws, are included in Islamic studies. It also includes what are considered secular disciplines such as Islamic science, astronomy, and economics. Islamic studies encompass a vast treasure trove of literature that includes philosophy, history, poetry, stories, and travelogs.
