DEWA Bill Attestation in Dubai

One of the most distinct aspects of expats living in Dubai and other Emirates is the obligation to get authentic copies of original papers. Residents in Dubai do various transactions in their home countries or other overseas jurisdictions regularly. The need for expats to give genuine copies of their documents such as passports, DEWA bills, bank statements, and other documents to confirm the actual identity of the expat and the documents in issue is a prevalent feature of these transactions.

  2. Introduction One of the most distinct aspects of expats living in Dubai and other Emirates is the obligation to get authentic copies of original papers. Obtaining True copies of documents has become a daily need in Dubai and all over the UAE. This article answers certain misunderstandings about the usage of terms in Dubai and the UAE, such as notarization and true copy attestation.

  3. Difference between True copy attestation vs Notarization Expats are often asked to seek notarization of their passports, DEWA bills, Emirates IDs, or other papers submitted to any government agency or third party outside the UAE. Notarization is a phrase that is often used for authentic copies all over the globe. The word “notarization” is often used to refer to authenticated true copies worldwide.

  4. What is Notarization? In several nations, notaries public certify papers as True copies; this process is referred to as notarization. It is not the situation in the United Arab Emirates. In the UAE, the notary public does not certify true copies of any papers other than those issued by the notary public or proved to be signed in his presence. A power of attorney registered with the notary public is a frequent example of a document for which a notary public in the UAE may provide a True copy. The notary public then finds the original power of attorney from the public records and issues a certified True copy.

  5. What exactly is a True Copy Attestation in UAE? A True Copy attestation in UAE is essentially a certification by a lawyer on a photocopy of the original document. The owner of the document must appear in person before the lawyer who will certify the copy as a true certified copy such as: • You will need a passport. • Emirati ID (or Emirates ID) • Other means of identification, including the document to be authenticated and certified as a true copy.

  6. Procedure for issuing true certified copies in UAE The expat must show the original document to the lawyer, who checks its validity. Once the lawyer has verified the legitimacy of the original document, he makes a copy of it and stamps it with the following: • A statement declaring that a true and accurate copy of the original has been completed. • He also adds his name and contact information to the paper.
