  3. What is autism or ASD? • A lifelong developmental disability that affects early in childhood and affects daily functioning. • Including emotions, speech, memory, learning ability and self-control.

Early signs and symptoms • Social challenges and social understanding • Lack of expressions, emotions and eye contact • Unusual or inappropriate body language, gestures, and facial expressions • Resistance to being touched • Unusual in social interaction; prefers to be alone. • Speech and languages Difficulties • Repeating words or phrases over and over. • Problem in learning how to speak or doesn’t talk at all • Speaking in an abnormal tone of voice, or with an odd rhythm or pitch • Difficulty communicating needs or desires • Repetitive Behaviors and Activities • Performs a restricted range of activities and self harm activities • Gets upset by change in their routine or environment. • Awkwardness, abnormal posture, or odd ways of moving

What are the causes ? • A faulty or imperfect gene, a chemical imbalance, a lack of oxygen at delivery, and babies born before 26 weeks might cause to have autism. • Genetics- It can be acquired from their parents or younger siblings. And it may be an existing infrequent genetic syndrome, including Fragile X syndrome and Williams syndrome. • Environmental factors- Viral infections, medications or complications during pregnancy, alcohol, or air pollutants may play the role to developing ASD.

Types of Autism • Asperger's Syndrome-Delay in development i.e social development, communication, and the ability to use their imagination, and confusion about surrounding people activities. • Rett Syndrome- Sleep or breathing difficulties, a strange gait, teeth grinding, slowed growth, seizures, a slowing of cognitive abilities and lastly severe physical decline. • Childhood Disintegrative Disorder- Memory loss, sudden changes in behavior, like agitation, or anger, which is followed by the loss of bowel or bladder control. • Autistic Disorder- Failure to communicate, not meet eye contact, constant pitch level while talking, not responding to their name and repetition of particular behaviors.

  7. Adult with autism Adult with autismspend more time on putting stuff in a particular manner or repeat the same sentence many times. Common symptoms to determine undiagnosed autism: • Difficulties in social interactions and relationships • Verbal or nonverbal communication. • Limited interests in activities or play. • Romantic Difficulties • Sensory Processing * Many Treatmentallows for the relatively normal development of the patient with autism.
