  1. Yali GoldenbergP.412/15/11College Project

  2. Johnson and Wales college questions. • Is financial aid available for student attending this college? Yes, in fact, about 90% of students attending Johnson and Wales receive some sort of financial aid. • What majors does this college focus on? Johnson and Wales has a wide arsenal of major options, but it is most widely known for its culinary arts. • What is the acceptance rate for Johnson and Wales university? About 72% of students who apply get • Is this college a private or public project? Public.

  3. Johnson and Wales scholarship questions • how many different types of scholarships are available for freshman? 3, ranking from the highest rating to lowest. • Is a full scholarship program available for JWU? Yes, they have a certain scholarship which gives you the full ride, tuition free college, only thing you have to pay is dorm if you decide to live on campus. • How long is the culinary arts term?2 years for a chefs license/ degree and another 2 for a business degree too. • How does JWU rank in the state as best colleges? #82

  4. Questions on major • What is the best college in the state for a marine science major? UM has a huge marine biology building and is great college for science. • What is UM ranked nationally among colleges? University of Miami is ranked #39. • Would it be better to go out of state for a college? Well, it really depends on what you want to do, and what you want to major in. • Which is the best college in state for a 4-year business major? FIU is a great school for a business major, maybe the best in state.

  5. Scenario 1 • No, I think this statement is completely wrong. If both graduated and got a degree and a good education, then the rest of the choices is up to them. 2 people can graduate from the same college, one chooses to throw it to waste and sell drugs, and the other gets a high paying job, with a great salary. That is 100% the persons fault. In this situation the person who didn’t do anything with they’re life is obviously an idiot. However, there is one exception, and its pretty big. The story didn’t specify what college’s they went to. One person could've gone to Miami Dade college, and the other to UM. There is an obvious explanation to why one person is more educated than the other. So in conclusion to this scenario reflection, the person itself should be the one blamed for not doing anything after receiving a diploma

  6. Scenario 3 • In this situation, the parents can be blamed for the girl getting pregnant. Being protective of your daughter is understandable, but parents cannot take it to that extent of giving her no freedom at all. As soon as the girl went of to college, she saw the opportunity of not being with her parents anymore, she basically saw freedom; and she took it. Her getting pregnant and not being able to tell her parents is all their fault. They should have been more open with her and maybe given her a little more freedom, while still staying on top of her. In conclusion the girl should have an abortion, but she SHOULD tell her parents. They need to be more open with each other, and be able to talk about things. She should also introduce her boyfriend to her parents. Lastly, she needs to confront her parents and tell them she is an adult, and not a young child anymore.

  7. interview For the interview part of the project I had to opportunity to interview my father. My dad went to Le Cordon Bleu, which is a great college for a culinary arts major. After studying at le cordon bleu for 2 years, he got a job at a hotel in sunny isles as a chef. Even though he does not cook professionally anymore, he still enjoys it very much. i was hanging out with my dad last weekend, and got to interview him. • Do you regret going to college for a culinary arts major? No, it has taught me many things that I would never have learned while studying a different major. • Did you enjoy Le cordon Bleu as a college? Yes, the tuition is average and the professors and staff and very nice and patient with students. • Why did you stop being a chef? The job was too hard. It consisted of long ours. The pay wasn’t bad, but wasn’t as good as much as I working. • Was being a chef your dream as a kid? Yes and no. As a teenager I had many dreams, but being a chef was definitely one of them. • If you could, would you still be a chef now? If I found a job with a high salary I would continue being a chef because cooking is my passion. • As a teenager, did anyone encourage you to go to college and get a degree? No, going to college was completely out of my ambition. I set a goal for myself and completed it. • Do you regret anything during college? Yes, if I could I would take a 4 year term at the same college or maybe a different one so I can receive a much larger salary.

  8. PRE-COLLEGE TO-DO LIST: • Memorize SS number- this will be needed when filling out most paperwork • Open a bank account- college will bring a lot of expenses, thus a bank account with a credit card will be a smart choice. • Get all shots- college will be requiring a form of proof that you got all your shots. • Focus on the small things- gas, books, money to spend on campus etc. • Check for available deals- you shouldn’t spend extra money on things that aren't that necessary. As if college isn't expensive already.,
