  1.     1      5 WORK FROM HOME RULES  FOR BETTER PRODUCTIVITY   ___    INTRODUCTION  With Work From Home becoming a new normal and even after this pandemic is over Work From  Home(WFH) is only going to increase globally. As a result, it is extremely important for leaders  as well as managers to understand the dynamics of the impact of WFH on their employees and  team members to get the best out of them.   www.m2wsolutions.in

  2.     2      This E-book is designed to equip leaders and managers with 10 GOLDEN rules along with the  DO’S and DONT’S of WFH(Work from home). Once you have read this manual you will be able  to derive better results from your employees.   RULE#1: START THE DAY ON TIME  For a leader its not just about planning your own day, A leader is also responsible to get best out  of their team. Remember we are living in a result-oriented economy, whether your team is  working from home or office, it does not matter anymore, only RESULTS matter. The first rule  to get the most out of your day and from your team is to start the day on time. And if you are in  an environment where you are responsible for daily results, then the best way to start the day is  with a call with your team members first thing in the morning. This sets the tone for the day for  you as well as your team. If you are in a more of an operational environment where daily targets  do not play a crucial role then you should still have a team call twice a week to ensure  everything is going smooth and all team members are on the same page.   RULE#2: RESPECT BOUNDARIES OF YOUR TEAM MEMBERS  Very much related to the first rule, you must respect the privacy of your team members.   Before writing this short manual, A short survey about problems faced during work from home  was done, and the number one problem employees reported was the tasks assigned to them  after working hours. While once in a blue moon, every employee knows and understands that  they have to entertain such requests but this becomes a daily habit, no employee likes it.  No matter how much pro flexi timing your team is, You do not want to be a leader who assigns a  task at 10.30 P.M at night and wants it done by the morning, because you had a deadline  tomorrow and you forgot about it.   Similarly, a lot of leaders were keen on having calls over the weekend for the work which could  have been easily done during the week, and no employee was happy about it.   From a leader or manager’s perspective, they felt employees are not giving their best during  work from home and they wanted to get some work done over the weekend. For starters, A  leader must assign work and timelines carefully during the start of the week to ensure no such  situation arises. Even if it does, a leader must communicate this to the employee and inform  them that this is why the following tasks need to be finished over the weekend. This will ensure  www.m2wsolutions.in

  3.     3      that employees are also aware and they will plan their work better next week. However, there  are always some employees who find themselves more productive over the weekend and as a  leader, you must ensure that this behavior does not impact other employees.   RULE#3: CLEAR COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY  While this is true for every business on any given day, this becomes even more crucial during  work from home. Even when you are on a call, you do not know whether every employee is  paying full attention and not getting distracted by whatever is going on at their home.   BONUS TIP: Use video calls to ensure that everyone is paying attention. Video calls are  considered most effective around the globe when working remotely.   RULE#4: USE CLOUD SOLUTIONS INSTEAD OF TRADITIONAL  SOFTWARES  If you haven’t already, its time to move to cloud solutions. While cloud solutions may not be as  feature-rich as the traditional software, the fact that two employees can work on a spreadsheet  or a document at the same time and communicate without even switching the screen or tab is a  great advantage when working remotely and enables you to finish work quickly and increase in  overall productivity.   Cloud solutions are not just limited to office applications, solutions required by HR, Finance,  Sales, CRM, Customer Support are now all available over the cloud and offer increased  transparency.   RULE#5: PROJECT MANAGEMENT TOOLS ARE YOUR BEST  FRIEND  Project management tools not only help you to organize your daily work and projects, but they  also create transparency, help you monitor employee efficiency and productivity along with  improved communication within the team.   Project management tools also help you standardize your organization processes. There is a  major difference between having a project management tool and actually using project  www.m2wsolutions.in
