    3. Saint Paul College Demographics Unduplicated headcount Fall 2010 (part-time and full-time) – Over 6,000 Total students served (2009-2010 academic year) – Over 8,000 African American 33% Asian American 10% White 45% Latino/Hispanic 3% American Indian 1% Male 47% Female 53%

A New Direction for Career and Technical Education in MinnesotaGuiding Principles: Consortium partnership required by State Each student needs at least some education or advanced training past high school whether 2-year college, 4-year university, industry certification, or advanced training through work. Increase non-traditional participation High schools and colleges must continue to implement that which has worked well and improve on areas of need.

Modeled after the Anoka STEP Program in response to the need to: Increase number of students graduating with a Post Secondary plan Increase the number of students enrolling in post-secondary education Provide cost effective opportunities for advanced CTE instruction for students district wide Provide smoother transition to Post Secondary through developing Programs of Study

    9. Encourages students who are apprehensive about attending college, a supportive college experience in courses taught, or team taught by a high school teacher. No cost to student Transportation provided by Saint Paul College Courses run daily from noon to 1:30 CPA recruitment done through advisories, assemblies, open house, career/college fairs etc.

Statistics 2009 93.9% retention rate for all courses 2009 18 out of 20 students in the engineering course continued in the engineering field of study at a Post Secondary school after graduation 2009 100% Certified Nursing Assistant Students received Certificates 2010 96% CPA Students planned to continue Post Secondary training 2010 32% CPA Students plan to continue attending Saint Paul College after graduation

Keys to Success Commitment by Superintendent and College President Perkins start up funding of teacher salaries and supplies High school instructors working with college mentor instructor to develop curriculum and sometimes team teach Students held to high standards High school counselors informed and act as the school liaison High schools open to recruitment, application and registration processes Flexibility to overcome obstacles of the two educational systems
