Additionally,thefollowingtoolbarcontrolsarealsoprovided. Controls Description ARLMsg Bringsupaform that allowstheusertoselecta RoutineorEmergencyARL message. Onceamessage isselected,theuserispromptedforanyembeddeddata neededtocompletethemessage. Check Thisbuttondoes thefollowing: • Checkstomakesurethatallrequiredfieldsare filledin. Ifarequiredfieldismissing,thefieldis highlighted. • ReformatstheMessageTexttobeconsistentwith NTSpacketformattingrules.Thisincludes replacingeachperiod(.)withan“X”and reformattingthemessagesothereareonly5words perline. ThePreamble“Check”field isfilledinwiththe numberof wordsinthemessage. Save PerformsaCheckofthemessage(sameasabove),then saves themessagetotheMessageForm.Themessage form fieldsarefilledinperthestandardNTSpacket messageformat. ClearMessage ClearstheAddress,Message,andSignaturefields. Cancel ClosestheNTSMessageMakerformwithoutsaving themessage. Pressingthisbuttonwillcauseany messageenteredtobediscarded. HandlingInstr BrowseButton LocatedtotherightoftheHandlingInstrfield inthe Preamble. Bringsupaform that allowstheusertoselecta Handling Instruction. Thisisasequentialnumberbeginning with1eachmonthoryeartobeassignedbythe originatingstation. OutpoststoresthelastNTSpreambleused.The MessageNumberisautomaticallyincrementedwith eachnewmessage. Precedence Requiredfield. ThePrecedenceisasinglecharacter tobeenteredinthisfield. Thefourcategoriesof Precedenceare: E-EMERGECNY: Anymessagehavinglifeordeath urgencytoanypersonorgroupofpersons.This includesofficialmessages towelfareagenciesduring emergenciesrequestingsupplies, materials,or instructionsvitaltoreliefof strickenpopulacein emergencyareas. Usetheabbreviation“E”inthe packetmessage. P -PRIORITY: Importantmessageshavingaspecific timelimit.Officialmessagesnotcoveredinthe Emergencycategoryarecoveredhere.Usethe abbreviation“P”inthepacketmessage. W-WELFARE:Amessagethatiseither(a)an inquiryastothehealthandwelfareofanindividualin thedisasterareaor(b)anadvisoryorreplyfromthe disasterarea. Usetheabbreviation“W”inthepacket message. R-ROUTINE: Mosttrafficnormallywillbearthis designation. Duringadisaster,Routinetrafficshould behandledlastornotatallwhencircuitsarebusywith othertraffic.Usetheabbreviation“R”inthepacket message. HandlingInstr Optionalfield. Handling instructions(HX)serveto conveyanyspecialinstructionstohandlingand deliveringoperators.Thefollowingdefinitionsapply: HXAnumber-Collectlandline(phonecalls)delivery isauthorizedbytheaddresseewithinnumbermiles(if nonumber,authorizationisunlimited). Enteronly“A number” HXBnumber-Cancelmessageifnotdeliveredwithin numberhoursoffilingtime;servicetheoriginating station. Enteronly“Bnumber” HXC -Reportdateandtimeofdelivery(TOD)to originatingstation.
