Parent Application Process • Dates Open: • Sept. 30, 2008 – October 9th, 2008 • Information was posted on cvsd.org, three Valley newspapers, and school newsletters • 14 people applied • How members were chosen: • 5 director districts • 2 higher education representatives • 1 business representative

  4. Committee Makeup • 29 Teachers • 9 Administrators • All Administrators are invited to every meeting • 5 Parents • 2 Higher Education Representatives • 1 Business Representatives • ESD 101 Math Coordinator • ESD 101 Director for Math & Science Programs

  5. October 16th – 1st meeting • Agenda • Group Norms • WASL/SAT Scores • Current Reality • Aspirations

  6. October 30th – 2nd meeting • Article: “Rigor Redefined” by Tony Wagner • Activity • Committee thoughts

  7. October 30th – 2nd meeting • Decision Making – Consensus • Why Consensus? • Definition, Philosophy, and Misunderstandings • What is “most” for our committee? • Gifting Support

November 20th“All About Math” focus night • 6:30pm – 8:00pm @ LTC Board Room • Participants will learn about: • Update on Math Adoption Committee work • New statewide K-8 math standards • Best practices in mathematics instruction • Parents and the community will also be invited to provide input about their goals and vision for math instruction. • Information is posted online and a letter was sent out to schools.
