  1. Some Little Known Impala Facts From the Camaro to the Chevelle and the Impala, Chevrolet had manufactured some of the most significant muscle cars of the 60s. While it is difficult to say which of these models is the most popular among car enthusiasts, it is not out of the question to say that the Impala was one of Chevy's most popular models. The first Impala was rolled out in 1958, and it was used as Chevy's most expensive full-size model. It was used to compete against the full-size models being manufactured by both Ford and Plymouth. Chevy's new car became an overwhelming success, as it became the top-selling auto in the US. The Impala was named after a specific antelope that could be found in Africa. This was Chevy's way of giving the impression that this model would be both fast and elegant, just like these antelopes. Oddly enough, today these cars are more known for being muscle cars, than anything else. I say this is odd, because these type of cars are usually thought of as mean and powerful, but an antelope is anything but these things. So how successful were the sales of the Impala? These models sold in excess of 13 million units, in an eight year span from 58 to 66. These were record sales for that time, and in fact still hold true to this day. The 64 model was the most popular seller, coming in at just a shade over 1 million units sold. To this day no

  2. manufacturer has sold as many units of one specific model, as Chevy's did with the Impala in 1964. Perhaps the greatest testament to this car is the fact that it is still being sold today. While the car has changed significantly since it was first introduced almost 60 years ago, is still one of the most popular models on the market today. If you own an antique car then consider a reputed company like Leland West Insurance for insuring your classic beauty.
