Laurent Zahut's passion for the world of cinema started at a young age, focusing on the story-telling aspect of films. Immersing himself in the world of strong images, memorable moments, and sharp dialogue, Laurent was able to escape the monotony of everyday life and get closer to the adventures of his favorite characters. Laurent Zahut learned a lot about life vicariously through films. Discovering Sergio Leone’s masterpiece “Once Upon a Time in America” was a total revelation. Cinema was his teacher and he decided to dedicate his life to it.

Laurent Zahut - Career and Role in the French Media Company In 1986, at age 18, Laurent met Alain Riou, one of the editors of the French cinema magazine, NouvelObs, and began writing articles and pitching ideas for the publication. Laurent's career took off when he was offered a professional opportunity by Alain Riou. With his extensive knowledge of film and his experience as a journalist in high school, Laurent was able to join the editorial department of a prominent French media company. He was able to identify changes in the media industry and see new dynamics in the methods used by film producers and distributors.

  4. Laurent Zahut -The Innovator Laurent Zahut helped launch one of the first multiplex cinemas in the grand shopping center, Les Halles. Working with the cinema operator, Jean-Pierre Lemoine, he helped launch the new theater as well as dozens of films being shown there, including The Last Emperor, The Name of the Rose, and The Sicilian. Promotional media, press, and special screening events were a part of his creative duties while helping the multiplex become an entertainment and cultural icon of Paris – which it still is today, albeit under new ownership.

  7. Inspiration from Outside the Industry Laurent worked for nearly a decade outside the cinema world. Marketing and advertising were broader than just the film industry, so began to work as an advertising and promotional specialist for other businesses, including McDonald’s. At the time, in the early 90s, McDonald’s was experiencing another wide expansion in France and Mr. Laurent Zahutwas there to help make it happen. He and his agency were responsible for the promotions and events for the openings of three to four McDonald’s restaurants each week across the country.
