  1. Lyric analysis Please remember that this is subjective, and this is how I have interpreted the lyrics. The artist may have meant them to have a different meaning “Holdin’ me down” – by Onitsha

  2. Verse 1 Clearly the artist is aware of a mistake that she has made and did it knowingly, however she does feel guilty as it seems like she is asking for forgiveness I have taken full advantage of your grace and mercy, lord and though I try to abstain from sin, my flesh just hurts me and its so hard to believe the depth of how you love me and you're not mad you're not mad at me In this line she talks about how the temptation was to great and she couldn’t resist the sin she has committed Because of the previous references to the Lord, in this line I presume she is talking about God rather than the person she loves. ”God loves all his children”. She wonders how God could still love her even after the mistake she has made Here she is talking to God directly wondering why God has forgiven her without any punishment. “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins”

  3. Chorus 1 – (the chorus changes slightly each time) Clearly, she keeps repeating her mistake that she mentioned in verse one. An Idea I had for this line is a to get a big spinning wheel with our male actor on one side and on the opposite side and film them as they spin slowly. keep going in circles - circles round and round  don't know why you love me like you do you just keep holdin' me down I feel so stupid so foolish (so stupid so foolish) I whished you loved me this way and what can I say but I'll never know (I'll never know why you'll always take me back) Here the artist is talking to the person she is involved with. I have interpreted this as she doesn’t understand why she keeps going back to the person shes in a relationship with. She feels ”stupid” and “foolish” about going back to him. The male also sing the lyrics ‘so stupid so foolish’ I have interpreted this as he has cheated on her. She wants him to love her as much as she loves him. In this line the artist doesn’t know the love interest keeps coming back to her even though they have both made mistakes. – for this line I would like both the actors to move together in the center of the spinning wheel as they spin but the camera angle changes from birds eye view to a mid shot on the ground

  4. Verse 2 – Males verse in this line, I have interpreted this as he is hurting the female artist by his actions, and he knows he is making the relationship toxic. “you give, I take” she gives him everything and he doesn’t reciprocate. No excuse for what I've done to make you feel this way I've done nothing for this gift I have you give I take such a shame I have to go through something to call your name its so insane, you'd die for me, you did it all to save me I feel stupid saying it, cus I know you're already hurting yeah e yeah but I wont do it again here he talks about how the only time he gives her attention is if he’s messed up. He feels bad because he knows she would do anything for him and he probably wouldn’t do the same – we know this by the lyric ‘its so insane’ because he thinks its insane she would do something like that for him, even though he knows he doesn’t deserve it. He feels bad for telling her that she has cheated because she has enough going on and shes probably doesn’t trust him because I presume this isn’t the first time hes done this. But he says “but I wont do it again” I have interpreted this as him trying to comfort her

  5. Chorus 2 keep going in circles - circles round and round  don't know why you love me like you do you just keep holdin' me down i feel so stupid so foolish  how could you love me this way tell me what can i say and i'll never know (i'll never know why you'll always take me back girl) This is the only line in the chorus that has changed – I have interpreted this as she is wondering why he keeps putting her through this because its not fair

  6. Bridge In this part of the song our female lead will be singing in the rain. Here the goldy references are key this could possibly be because she worships the man like he’s God. I have interpreted this part of the song as she loves the boy because he protects her and doesn’t judge her for her issues in spite of my issues  Lord you cover with grace  don't know where i'd be if you turned away so glad that i have you  to pick me up when i fall your amazing love keeps me coming home She feels lost with out him in her life and therefore giving reasoning for why she keeps going back to him even though he keeps committing infidelity She really does love this boy and is willing to forgive him for his actions because he makes her feel good and he treats he well. In this moment I would like our female and male lead to hug in the rain.

  7. Chorus 3 keep going in circles - circles round and round  don't know why you love me like you do you just keep holdin' me down i feel so stupid so foolish (so stupid so foolish) i wished you loved me this way but what can i say but i'll never know (i'll never know why you'll always take me back) This is the outro to the song and the chorus repeats. Here I would like our female lead to finally escape the circle and push our male lead away from her and finally step off the spinner and walk off leaving our male lead stood there alone to contemplate his actions.
