THINK LIKE EUROPEAN ACT LOCALLY ESC Madeira - Teatro Metaphora
About the project In October 2025, a group of international volunteers joined Teatro Metaphora in Câmara de Lobos, Madeira as part of the European Solidarity Corps Teams project. The aim was to promote European opportunities for young people, encourage cultural exchange, and support community and environmental initiatives.
Activities Our main task was a roadshow across Madeira, visiting schools and youth centers to promote programs like Erasmus+, DiscoverEU, and the European Solidarity Corps. We designed presentations, interactive games, and discussions to inspire students to explore Europe and gain new experiences.
Info point A key part of our mission was running an Infopoint in schools. There, we answered questions, shared personal stories, and explained how young people can take part in volunteering and mobility projects. It was rewarding to see student’s curiosity grow and to know that we helped them discover life-changing opportunities.
We also contributed to the project’s visibility by creating photos, videos, and social media posts.
Free time In our free time, we explored Madeira together — hiking through mountains, swimming in the ocean, and discovering small towns.
Travelling Travelling around the island was a big part of our adventure. We visited breathtaking viewpoints, waterfalls, and natural parks — sometimes even hitchhiking or taking spontaneous road trips. Each journey helped us appreciate the island’s beauty and experience local culture up close.
This project allowed us to : Strengthen teamwork and communication skills Learn how to plan and lead educational activities Build confidence in public speaking and intercultural communication Dependent our awareness of how European programs empower young people to grow and connect across borders
