Explanation of the uses and structure of simple present tense.

SIMPLE PRESENT Success is no an accident. It is hard work. The simple present tense is used to describe actions or situations that are habitual, repeated, or facts that are generally true. It's often used to talk about things that happen in everyday life, routines, habits, or to state facts. In the simple present tense, we use the base form of the verb (infinitive without "to") for all subjects. STRUCTURE *For most verbs: subject + base form of the verb (+s/es for he, she, it) I work in an office. She eats breakfast every morning. We study English on Mondays. *For negative sentences: subject + do/does + not + base form of the verb He does not (doesn't) like coffee. They do not (don't) play soccer. *For questions: Do/Does + subject + base form of the verb? Do you like pizza? Does he watch movies?
Usage To talk about routines and habits: "I go for a walk every morning." To express general truths: "Water boils at 100°C." For scheduled events: "The train arrives at 5 PM." For facts or scientific facts: "The Earth revolves around the Sun." Remember that for the third person singular (he, she, it), we usually add "s" or "es" to the base form of the verb.
Rules for Regular Verbs: IT'S STUDY TIME you generally add "s" or "es" to the base form of the verb for the third person singular (he, she, it). For regular verbs, which are most verbs in English, play → plays work → works For verbs ending in -o, -s, -x, -z, -sh, -ch, add "es" to the base form: go → goes watch → watches fix → fixes buzz → buzzes
For verbs ending in -y with a consonant before it, change the -y to -ies and add "es" for the third person singular RULE FOR VERBS ENDING IN -Y: s t u d y → s t u d i e s f l y → f l i e s For verbs ending in -y with a vowel before it, just add "s" to the base form: play → plays stay → stays

Examples: She plays the piano. He goes to school. It washes the dishes. The cat sleeps all day. He does his homework.
Exercise: My Typical Business Day Example: Hi! I am a business management student. My typical day starts early. I wake up at 6 AM and get ready for the day. Then, I check my emails to see if there are any important messages. After that, I have breakfast and head to class. In class, I learn about various business strategies. In the afternoon, I attend meetings with my study group to discuss our projects. In the evenings, I review my notes and prepare for the next day's classes. Overall, my days are busy but productive. THE SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE IS USED TO DESCRIBE ACTIONS OR SITUATIONS THAT ARE HABITUAL, REPEATED, OR FACTS THAT ARE GENERALLY TRUE.
