Google Analytics helps to track everything from shopper demographics to what is searched. Sign up for a free Google Analytics account is easy. Once the account is setup the website provider can add a snippet of code to the website’s back end. Google will start collecting data, and that data can be used to see how website is performing. Anything more than 2 minutes on a page is great if less than 30 seconds is bad. If the visitor is spending a lot of time on a Contact Us form’ that indicates that the form is confusing. If the visitor is not spending much time on pages with more content, such as blog posts or product description, they might not be finding what they need, which should tip you off that the content needs to be updated. Your bounce rate is the percentage of visitors who leave your website after visiting only one page. A healthy bounce rate ranges from 35 to 50 percent. Google Analytics groups your website traffic into three main categories. Direct, Referral and Organic. Direct visitors are those who come to a website by typing your URL into their browser. Referral visitors are those who come to a website by clicking a link on another website. Organic search visitors are those who find a website by clicking on an unpaid search engine listing. The program also breaks out email, social and other to fully encompass any possible source of the website traffic.
